Rapper To Take a More Serious Tone in 2012
“Backed by nostalgic, sample-filled beats, Burgundy’s
flow is laid back and uses a classic rhyming style while employing the highly
personal storytelling techniques of contemporary rappers like Murs and
Atmosphere.”
- CMJ
Are you ready to launch into 2012? MAX BURGUNDY sure
is. Making quite an impression amongst music listeners in 2011, the next year
is only going to be bigger and better for the Indie Hip Hopper who is already
on fire.
Hailing from the Bronx and now residing in Brooklyn, this
all around New Yorker is ready to take on the world. Raised by a
lone wolf of a single mother, petty street violence, John Singleton movies and the
only genre he's ever known, MAX BURGUNDY has never stopped
paying attention to himself and his surroundings, and it shows in his
music. With a sound described by some as equal parts Slug, MURS
and Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Burgundy has a stage presence that is
neither subtle nor ordinary. Max brings the emotion and anxiety of a tortured
adolescence and early adulthood to his music and performance art.
Max has shared the stage with Pitbull, Das Racist,
Chromeo, Gordon Voidwell, Atomosphere, Twin Shadow, MURS, Eyedea and
countless others. He has collaborated with esteemed producers OMEN (Drake,
Lil Wayne, Ludacris), KHRYSIS!!! (9th Wonder, The Away Team,
Little Brother)Cookin Soul (Nipsey Hustle, 50 Cent), and the Fyre
Dept (Adam Deitch, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli).
And that's not all.........2011 was a HUGE year
for Max. Not only did he release his debut EP, #Waiting, but
opportunity seemed to be present everywhere he looked. This year saw Max's
first video for "Life Ain't Funny," premiere onMashable. Max's
follow up single for "Save Ferris (Fuck My Job)," premiered onBaeble
Music, and the video for the song made an impressive premiere onCMJ.com.
The Deli Magazine has featured him as a NYC Rapper on
the Rise, and he was just voted by Sonicbids into the Number One
Spot for their top 5 Hip Hop artists of 2011. Max has also done
a guest feature in the MTV.com Blog....wait...make that TWO guest
features! This year saw Max playing shows at CMJ, Pop Montreal, and AC3 which
are impressive to say the least.
As we speak he is currently in the studio recording his new
album, which will feature a collaboration with Aaron Pfenning (Chairlift,
Rewards), for one of the most anticipated collaborations of 2012. “Life Ain’t
Funny” will also appear in the trailer for the Kevin Hart and Big Boy movie
titled "Exit Strategy," and on the soundtrack released by Snoop
Dogg's Doggystyle Records. 2012 also sees Max accepted into SXSW,
Canadian Music Fest, and a chance to play Midem in Cannes.
2012 is going to be a colossal year for MAX
BURGUNDY. Listen up and listen closely. If #Waiting was
his Ace Ventura, expect the Freshman rapper to drop an Eternal
Sunshine at the top of the year. Max is a definite artist to be
on the look out for in 2012. Don’t miss out on what he has to offer!
