Gotye Announces Spring 2012 North American Tour

It is our pleasure to introduce to you Australia's hottest up-and-coming artist Gotye.  In case, you're not responsible for one of the over 20 million views of his video for "Somebody That I Used To Know" (featuring Kimbra), Gotye's brand of art pop calls to mind classic progressive artists such a Genesis or The Police, while maintaining an undeniable air of inherent modernity.  His most recent album Making Mirrors was certified two times platinum in Australia, and will be released in the United States on January 31st via Samples'n'Seconds/Fairfax Recordings/Universal Republic. The lead single (the aforementioned "Somebody That I Used To Know") enjoyed almost unheard of sales numbers in this day and age, having reached five times platinum and secured the #1 spot on the Australian iTunes charts.  For more information on this soon to be classic record, you can watch a "making of" documentary for Making Mirrors.

Gotye has been selling out concerts all over his native Australia, and has already been picked up on by major American tastemakers such as Pitchfork, who gave Making Mirrors a favorable review, and KCRW who also featured the album on their "Morning Becomes Eclectic" show. MTV Buzzworthy clearly stated their fanship when they described Gotye as "just about one of the coolest artists we've come across in a hot second. His style is almost hard to define -- we could say indie folk, we could say indie pop, we could say indie alternative, but what we really wanna say is that it's just pretty effing amazing."

Gotye made a brief trip stateside this past fall for the CMJ Festival, where he was among the most buzzed about artists. He will be back for an extended tour of the states starting in February (dates below). With an energetic live show which can easily be mistaken for a listen to the album if you close your eyes, this upcoming run of North American dates should solidify the sort of mainstream stardom for Gotye in the U.S. that he experiences in his homeland.
