(NEW YORK, NY): Indie pop singer/songwriter Simon Spire hits the U.S. with a new album titled Four-Letter Words out today!  Spire has also released a new video for the single, “Uncomfortable,” from the forthcoming release. Originally from New Zealand, Simon Spire’s musical journey brought him to New York where he has lived for the last few years and where he ultimately wrote and recorded the new material. Four-Letter Words was produced by Rich Mercurio and Lee Nadel with mixing by engineer Brian Malouf (All American Rejects, Michael Jackson, David Gray).

Four-Letter Words, the second album from the Kiwi artist, showcases Spire’s talent for energetic, upbeat pop songs while still managing to cover considerable dynamic ground, highlighting a gift for lyrical depth throughout. Spire reaches for a revealing side, saying “the songs are about being radically true to the core of oneself, to the extent that there is constant openness to and inquiry into what’s driving us.”

The album’s single, Uncomfortable, was released in September, followed by a video in early October. The video, which is currently being featured on AOL Music, can be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXijs5SIoDA

A three-time award winner in the USA Songwriting Competition, and one of U.S. television network Channel One’s Top 20 Artists of the Year, Spire has also landed on the Top 20 and Top 40 airplay charts in New Zealand, with Four-Letter Words debuting at #6 on the New Zealand independent sales chart. The album has garnered advance praise both in the US and New Zealand.

“An exciting emerging songwriter…heartfelt and wise.”

“Indie pop perfection…Simon Spire is going to be a star.”
-Performer Magazine

"Gloriously vulnerable and emotive…Four-Letter Words’ sound is very versatile with comparable moments to Owl City, Ryan Adams and Sufjan Stevens, putting it on par with some greats in the alternative music scene."
-Muzic.net.nz

"While I would normally highlight my favorite lyrics, I'll refrain this time, because I'd be writing them all out. Plus, it's the music and Simon's voice that sells this so well."
-Relate Magazine

"Spire is a musically diverse talent with a Midas touch for great hooks."
-M2 Magazine

Spire has also recently teamed with the fashion brand, Jatalo. Jatalo is a socially-conscience brand that creates culturally inspired backpacks, to support the education of underprivileged children around the world. Simons songs traverse the ground between upbeat indie pop, and singer-songwriter introspection, making him a perfect fit for the international brand. Also currently pursuing graduate studies at Columbia University, Simon values the importance of education and is proud to be part of the organization stating, “I'm thrilled to be involved with Jatalo as they work to support education for children in need, and provide new opportunities for learning." Simon’s partnership with Jatalo has also grabbed the attention of the 1 Band 1 Brand organization, who is promoting the pair this week.

Simon Spire’s love for music began at a young age, but it wasn’t until he heard Nirvana for the first time at the age of 13, that he discovered his true passion for the guitar. Later, he discovered artists like Neil Diamond and Leonard Cohen, who sparked an interest in developing his talent for songwriting. His interest in understanding the influences that help shape our world drew him to a degree in economics and finance at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, all the while developing his abilities as a musician. He ultimately decided to pursue a career in his first love, relocating to the U.S. and releasing his debut album, All or Nothing, in 2008. With Four-Letter Words set for an October release in the U.S., Simon continues his love of learning, currently pursuing graduate studies at Columbia University.
