CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN’ RACKETTES

AUSTRALIAN SINGER-SONGWRITER AND HER ENSEMBLE HEAD TO U.S. FOR FALL PREVIEW SHOWS. DEBUT ALBUM ‘BABY CAUGHT THE BUS’ TO BE RELEASED IN THE U.S. IN EARLY 2013

2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN’ RACKETTES. The singer-songwriter and her band--an original interpretation of soul, jump blues, doo-woop, jazz and R&B with a lyrical tale to tell—are already a stylish sensation in their native Australia. After unforgettable gigs at Big Day Out, Melbourne Festival at the Forum Theatre, the Gold Plains, Falls Festivals and many late-night sweaty, sequined club shows along the way, CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN’ RACKETTES will perform two fall shows in the U.S. Tuesday, November 13 in Los Angeles at The Mint and Thursday, November 15 in New York at The Studio at Webster Hall.

Their Australian debut, BABY CAUGHT THE BUS moves through heart wrenching doo-wop wailing, to drunken pianos and tough hard-hitting soul. Produced by Steve Schram (Little Red, Little Birdy, Cat Empire). The record was recently named “Album Of The Year” by ABC Radio National and is drawing overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, listen to the full album and see a sampling of critical reaction below. BABY CAUGHT THE BUS has spawned an international hit in first single “Love Letter.” With CLAIRY’s big, soulful voice and the horns leading the procession for the jazz-inflected, upbeat track, “Love Letter” was been hand-picked for Heineken’s award-winning campaign The Switch. Watch the clip as CLAIRY and her band bring to life a dingy, old bar. The clip has already received over 750,000 views on YouTube:

Formed in 2009 over a mutual love of early rhythm n’ blues records, diva CLAIRY BROWNE and her harmonizing group of rogue musicians THE BANGIN’ RACKETTES began rehearsing in a condemned former coffin factory in the suburbs of Melbourne. Together the young band has come a long way thrilling both festival and club crowds alike with their refreshing, modern take on a big band wild theatrical performance, the nine-piece group’s stage show often starts with a marching band playing outside the venue, processions through the room, costume changes and cameos from singers and dancers within the crowd.
