“Terrible Mind” is the latest single from the “Tracing
The Alphabet Part 1” EP by Dearling Physique
“…dark and hypnotic, sexy and sinister, an alluring sound
that swallows you whole.” – The Onion
“As a new resident of Berlin, I am working to expand the Dearling
Physique network by collaborating with new musicians and artists,”
says Domino Davis, leader of the formerly Minneapolis-based band.
Dearling Physique has become known for its
extravagant and beautiful videos since the release of the “Discipline
Your Hands” clip in 2010 and Davis’s relocation has only
upped the ante on what the group is capable of, a fact on full display in the
band’s new video for the song “Terrible Mind”.
“I think of the video as a ‘Frankenstein’ story in its simplest
form. Music as mad scientist, a monster of desire is born. Fractured and
horrible, it goes to war with its other selves, destroying itself in the
process,” says Davis of the visually arresting clip. “It tells
the story of extremes. Black and white. Animal and artifice. Good and evil.
Suspended in fragile peace until forced to interact.”
The “Terrible Mind” video involved the
largest crew to work on a Dearling Physique production to
date, with James Lotter (director of the band’s previous “Up
All Night” clip) returning to the helm. The version of “Terrible
Mind” heard in the video also features a verse by rapper Xavier
Marquis not heard on the original EP edition of the track.
As for the future, Davis explains “We’ve
been preparing a remix album, parts II and III of ‘Tracing The
Alphabet’ will be compiled into a full-length album for release in
early 2013 and Europe will pay witness to some live performances in the Fall.”
