Whether it is a Wilco member collaborating on a new track or Nicole Atkins announcing on Twitter that they are her "favorite band right now," Minerva Lions have been turning heads since their recent inception in June 2010. Comprised of Jared Samuel (keys, acoustic guitar, lead vocals), Grey McMurray (electric guitar, backing vocals), Joseph McCaffrey (bass, backing vocals) and Tim Kuhl (drums), the Brooklyn-based quartet has been hitting the local live show circuit non-stop while building a cult fanbase.

The Lions recently played the Northside Music Festival at Pete's Candy Store on June 16th and will hit the stage to open for Nicole Atkins, who is a frequent Lions collaborator, at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ on July 28. Samuel also recently performed alongside Norah Jones for the Bob Dylan's 70th birthday party at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. Every Minerva Lions member has a knack for interchanging their musical roles and are active members with other performers. Individually, they have lent their musical contributions to a wide range of artists including Dan Deacon, Superhuman Happiness, The Avramina 7 and Wilco-offshoot Pronto.

Recent praise for Minerva Lions:

"While melancholic folk rockers Minerva Lions have only been around for a short time, the Brooklyn-based quartet seems posed to take their next step with the physical release of their debut EP Great Strides, Priestess & Queen." -PASTE

"...perfectly steel-entwined laments recalling the dreamy, longing sounds of Sea Change-era Beck" -L MAGAZINE

"NYC artists on the rise..." - THE DELI

Tour Dates:
July 7 @ Rockwood Music Hall in New York, NY
July 28 @ The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ (with Nicole Atkins)
