SEBASTIEN GRAINGER (EX - DFA 1979) SIGNS TO SADDLE CREEK FULL LENGTH SEBASTIEN GRAINGER & THE MOUNTAINS TO DROP OCTOBER 21 DEBUT AMERICAN NAMES

DIGITAL EP OUT NOW

Eminent indie powerhouse Saddle Creek, whose roster has bourne the careers of such luminaries as Bright Eyes, The Good Life, Son Ambulance, Two Gallants, and several others, is now pleased to count amongst its storied ranks Sebastien Grainger.

Best known for his contributions as singer and drummer for Canadian dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979, whose decadently catchy anthems took the world by storm with the release of their breakthrough record You're a Woman, I'm a Machine in 2004, Sebastian Grainger is soon be even better known to the world as a singer and songwriter of sophisticated distinction via his new solo works. Fans of his prior work will likely be surprised by his new direction; delicately layered folk-rock ruminations rich with energetic arrangements and deep melodic undercurrents. Saddle Creek recently released his debut digital EP American Names with a debut long player entitled Sebastian Grainger & the Mountains to be issued in October.

American Names is the end result of countless hours working in his studio working and reworking a set of songs over the course of a year. Touring as a four-piece band, songs that were originally written alone in the stillness of night became energized. The outcome is a new sound that followers of his previous musical endeavors may be surprised to hear--this is a clear melodic statement. While his new songs may have an affinity for the balladry of days gone by, Grainger manages to remain contemporary.
