RABBITS: Opening Track From Untoward Let Out Of The Cage Via The A.V. Club; October European Tour Dates Begin To Leak

Today, The Onion's A.V. Club explores the depraved burrow in which Portland's RABBITS inhabits, letting loose a dirge-strewn new single from their upcoming third LP, Untoward, nearing release on Lamb Unlimited. Contorted with untamed riffage and coprophagous lyrical tyranny, the unsmooth sounds of "Ever Mind" are a thunderously adequate introduction to this mutant, predatory trio and the latest mangled and raucous tonal destruction in the ongoing lineage of these undomesticated vertebrata.

"Like a shovelful of sludge to the skull, the record reeks of blood, mud, and the rancid pheromones of AmRep veterans like Cows and Killdozer," states the Onion's A.V. Club write-up coinciding with the track premiere. "There's also a blunt, metallic thrust to the disc, best heard on 'Ever Mind,' one ofUntoward's least amiable onslaughts of prickly noise. Go ahead, cuddle it."

Hear for yourself as "Ever Mind" grabs you by the throat and twirls you round and round, round and round, round and round... DO IT HERE.

The previously uncaged "Pack Up Your Shit" from Untoward is shredding via Invisible OrangesHERE.

Widespread live infestation in support of Untoward begins immediately, including the upcoming three-day, seven-show, twenty-five-band D.I.Y. "anti-fest" dubbed Festicide, running from August 15th through 17th in Portland, Oregon, booked by RABBITS and their resurrected outsider label, Eolian Empire. Amidst other live actions being sorted, the band has also announced the first installment of dates for their upcoming return to Europe this October. With nine dates confirmed and more to be announced in the coming days, the entire run will see the bandalongside Norway's eclectic Årabrot, whom RABBITS co-released their split 7" EP with last year.

Untoward will be released on August 12th via Lamb Unlimited, the label spawned of Chris Spencer of Unsane and Alan Schneider of No More Records, the album exhaustingly tracked live to tape at Type Foundry, Portland in one day and mixed in two. The engineering duties on Untoward were tag-teamed by Jeremy Romagna (Trees, Tecumseh, Wives) and Fester (Nux Vomica, Usnea, Stoneburner), both of whom have recorded the majority of the band's previous material, the tracks mastered by Ryan Foster at Foster Mastering, and the cover artwork hand-sewn by Anne Mersereau. ThroughRABBITS's already unwelcoming tsunami of blaring amplification and sarcastic, parasitic methodology, the outsider trio unloads nearly a half-hour of their most centered but dynamic aggravation yet on Untoward.
