Luluc- Australia's fave duo North America for summer tour

Melbourne's favorite quiet sensation, Luluc (pronounced Lou-Luke),
return to the US for a summer tour!

The music of Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett has quickly become renowned for its
austere and unadorned beauty. In songs pared down to an essential core,
Zoe’s unique alto is central and exquisite melodies are sung with uncommon grace and solemn power.

US Tour dates:
14 July - Los Angeles - Hotel Cafe' w/ Laura Veirs
15 July - Los Angeles - Bootleg Theatre w/ Rachael Cantu
23-26 July - Calgary - Calgary Folk Festival
28 July - Montreal - La Divan Orange
11 August - New York - Pete's Candy Store

Australian press has fallen in love with Luluc’s Dear Hamlyn
“An album seemingly outside of time, eleven songs suffused with a downcast,
unadorned beauty that is increasingly rare and incredibly precious.”
Guy Blackman

“Luluc’s new CD Dear Hamlyn has been on high rotation at my place for the last few weeks, and will stay there for many more. The album has an almost majestic simplicity, with its evocative lyrics ringing clearly over the calming, gentle instrumentation. This is one of those recordings that demonstrates the truth of the old saying ‘less is more’. The languid beauty and lack of artifice puts this CD in my Top 5 for 2008.”
Derek Guille 774 ABC Melbourne

"One of the most exquisite albums of the past year is the debut album by Luluc. Pure, unadorned, plain-spoken, a beautiful set of delicate folk songs."
Woody Mcdonald, Golden Plains

“Zoe Randell is a rarity in a crowded indie-music coterie. Her voice is of such simple and inimitable qualities – a rich timbre and evocative depth – that it renders notions of era and place all but frivolous …
Dear Hamlyn is a startlingly pure, subtly transcendent debut.”
Dan Rule, The Big Issue

“Cut from the same indie folk/alt country cloth that has spawned recent records from acts like Bon Iver, Radical Face and Fleet Foxes, Dear Hamlyn is a rich and mellow acoustic outing. It is fireside warm and cosy, yet wistful and broken. Its simplicity is, at times, quite breathtaking.”
Paul Ransom, Inpress

Who is Luluc?
Luluc recorded Dear Hamlyn in the attic of a faded Melbourne mansion. Zoë and Steve arranged the album at their own pace, favouring antique guitars and close harmonies to underscore a body of work remarkable in its restraint and emotional purity. Since the album's release less than a year ago, Luluc have found friends and fans among a select musical coterie, touring with Lucinda Williams, José González, Charlie Parr, Joan As Policewoman, Eric Bibb and Fleet Foxes.

Like a whisper or a caress, Luluc hold their audiences entranced. Zoë’s silken voice provides a strikingly beautiful counterpoint to her nylon-string guitar; Steve’s subtle vocal and guitar accompaniment weave in to complete a rich and deeply affecting sound.
