FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE'S ADAM SCHLESINGER RECEIVES EMMY NOMINATION

Fountains Of Wayne bassist/songwriter Adam Schlesinger received an Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics" for the song "Much Worse Things," a duet performed by Stephen Colbert and Elvis Costello on Comedy Central's holiday special A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All! All the songs for the special were co-written by Schlesinger and David Javerbaum, executive producer of The Daily Show.

Schlesinger has previously received nominations for Oscar, Tony, Grammy, and Golden Globe awards, but this is his first one for an Emmy. He and Javerbaum received a Tony nomination for Best Original Score for the Broadway show Cry-Baby, which was also nominated for Best Musical. Schlesinger's title song for Tom Hanks' film That Thing You Do received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song. Fountains Of Wayne received two Grammy nominations for their Welcome Interstate Managers album.

Schlesinger has recently been playing in the group Tinted Windows along with Cheap Trick's Bun E Carlos, Taylor Hanson of Hanson, and ex-Smashing Pumpkin James Iha. Tinted Windows debut album was released this spring, and both Fountains Of Wayne and Tinted Windows are playing shows this summer. He also is a member of the band Ivy. Both Fountains Of Wayne and Ivy are currently working on new albums, due next year.
