Little Tybee releases Building a Bomb TOMORROW!

"The whole record ebbs and flows, the songs build their momentum and everything is beautifully crafted. The mixture of Brock Scott’s vocals and Ryan Gregory’s violin brings out the poetic mystique of this record. Even the hand made folded case is inspiring." - Americana UK [8/10]

Little Tybee was formed in the winter of 2009 by Brock Scott, Josh Martin and Ryan Gregory as a rebound from the breakup of other groups. Since its conception, Little Tybee has gone from a trio to a five piece with the addition of Ryan Donald on bass and Pat Brooks on percussion.

The roots of Little Tybee stemmed when Brock Scott and Josh Martin met while in college and began writing instrumental music together. Brock met Ryan Gregory in 2008 while collaborating with New York-based artist Nic Rad to create a visual/musical experience called Dreamer Boy Dan. Combining the music and publishing worlds, DBD invented a unique method of character creation and storytelling. Working fluidly between illustration, music, and poetry, DBD aimed to return printed content to the music consumer. The project was greatly inspired by the format of children’s storybook vinyl used by Disney and other publishers in the 1950s and 1960s. Over fifteen musicians collaborated with Brock and Nic on this project, including Josh and Ryan, and after four months of recording, a 10-song/10-poem/10-illustration product emerged.

The album was recorded by Pat Brooks in Atlanta, GA and mastered by Grammy winning producer Don McCollister (Sister Hazel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins). The project was pitched to multiple publication firms and record labels, but an unsure marketing strategy stalled the project from further production.

After collaborating with Pat Brooks on recording Dreamer Boy Dan, a great creative chemistry was formed. This same chemistry was realized with the creation of Little Tybee始s first EP, I Wonder Which House The Fish Will Live In. The EP was recorded over the course of 4 days in Brock始s apartment in downtown Atlanta. Keeping collaboration an integral part of Little Tybee始s mission, the band worked with printmaker Jason Kofke to develop original album art.

"I've not experienced a band that so beautifully incorporates cheesy 70s style electric piano and casiotone drum beats, with violin, real piano, and traditional musical arrangements." - Viva Indie Rock

"The EP is filled to the brim with soft orchestral pop that reminds me of Andrew Bird on one side and Fleet Foxes on the other." - Pasta Primavera (I Wonder Which House The Fish Will Live In EP)

"Stunning violin floats above equally gorgeous piano and guitar riffs with strangely synthetic percussion filling in the rest in a combination that is as bewildering as it is engaging." - Chewing Gum For The Ears
