Margaret Cho's Return to TV and new tour dates!!!!!

MARGARET CHO’S “BEAUTIFUL” TOUR EXTENDED WITH NEW DATES THRU THE FALL

MARGARET’S NEW TELEVISION SERIES “THE CHO SHOW” DEBUTS ON VH1 AUGUST 21

MARGARET WILL GUEST ON “CHELSEA LATELY” SHOW AUGUST 20 AND “THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON” SEPTEMBER 5

July 28, 2008 - Los Angeles, CA - The incomparable Margaret Cho returned to her stand-up roots with her brand new one-woman show called “Beautiful” earlier this Spring to a string of sold-out shows. With the huge success of that tour, Margaret is proud to announce that “Beautiful” has been extended thru the Fall with new shows beginning September 5. Tickets for many of the markets will go on sale to the public this Friday, August 1, 2008.

Beautiful, presented by VH1 and LOGO, received rave reviews on its first outing like this one from The Boston Globe – “Cho was larger than life on the video screen above her - all the better to see her masterful facial expressions. The Woman is Fearless.”

In describing what “Beautiful” means to her, Margaret explains, “I want to explore the nature of beauty. What is funny and scary about it, why we often don’t feel beautiful because our society’s standards are so rigid and unattainable. A DJ once asked me, ‘What if you woke up tomorrow and you were beautiful, what would you do? If you were, blonde, blue-eyed, 5 foot 11 and weighed 100 pounds, what would you do?!?’ Well, I probably wouldn’t get up in that case, because I’d be too weak to stand. If that is his only idea of beauty then I feel really sorry for him. I want everyone to feel beautiful and I want to do it with laughter. Why not feel good about ourselves?”

In other news, Margaret will return to series television for the first time in over 10 years with her brand new show “The Cho Show” beginning Thursday, August 21. “The Cho Show” will follow the irrepressible Margaret Cho and her eccentric entourage as she fights to be herself in an industry that in the past wanted her to be something different. “The Cho Show” blends Margaret’s real life with some imaginative and comical situations that touch upon all aspects of Margaret’s “anything goes” lifestyle. From the complicated and awkward moments with her somewhat traditional Korean parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cho, to the more irreverent and outrageous experiences shared with her colorful cast of friends and colleagues, “The Cho Show” invites viewers into Margaret’s unique reality. The Cho family is joined by her no-nonsense assistant Selene Luna and her “Glam Squad”: John Stapleton (make-up), John Blaine (hair stylist), and Charlie
Altuna (wardrobe) who help her keep it together from head to toe. Viewers will get the opportunity to meet the people that provide her with plenty of material in her stand-up routines and follow the journey of this pioneering comedian.

In addition Margaret has been invited as a guest on E! Television’s “Chelsea Lately” show Wednesday, August 20 and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” Friday, September 5.

Comedian Liam Sullivan, known as internet sensation "Kelly," will be opening for Margaret in several cities on the tour. Liam has gained quite a cult following from his online short films, including his hit video, "Shoes," which has garnered over 40 million cumulative views and made him the second most watched comedian on YouTube. Liam won the 2008 People's Choice Award for Best User Generated Video for “Shoes.” Liam was a crowd pleaser as his character Kelly in Margaret's Off-Broadway variety show, The Sensuous Woman, and is sure to be a riot on her upcoming tour as he showcases new videos and characters. Los Angeles based, Transgendered, Stand-up Comedian, Ian Harvie will open other select dates on the tour. No matter how you identify your own sexuality, Ian’s humor will quickly help you feel like family. You’ve seen him on MTV's Logo Network: OutLaugh on Wisecrack. Ian also has his own monthly live, self-titled, comedy/talk show in Los Angeles. Ian has entertained such guests as Jane Lynch, Jorja Fox, Alan Cumming, and of course, Margaret Cho.
