BRUTAL GWAR B-Q & BREW w/ ODERUS URUNGUS ANNOUNCED  FOR AUGUST 3rd IN TAMPA, FL

Everyone's favorite alien overlord and lead-throat thing of GWAR, Oderus Urungus, will take a brief break from his arctic slumber to get "fucked up with the fans" for the debut of the "GWAR-B-Q Beer".  The beer was created from a recipe by Rob Chalmers especially for the upcoming GWAR-B-Q (August 17th in Richmond,VA).  But as a special treat for the fans Oderus himself will be travelling (via bat-shaped helicopter, of course...) to Ybor City, Florida to officially debut the brand-new, mind-altering product. "This is another milestone on the road leading to the GWAR-B-Q, the new GWAR album, and the brand-new GWAR show we will be putting on tour this fall," said the hardest-partying front-creature in rock. "I am looking forward to meeting with the fans, getting incredibly wasted, and then vomiting all over them. Then we will sell that!" The event, which is presented by GWAR, Cigar City Brewing, Crowbar Live and DMD will feature free samples of the all new "GWAR B-Q Beer" as well as Brutal Burgers topped with GWAR-B-Q Sauce. Formed by Thomas Storz (bass, percussion), Justin Toland (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Andrew Denham (drums, percussion), and originally from Mississippi, the power trio Dirty Streets now calls Memphis home. That’s where they recorded their new albumBlades Of Grass, at the legendary Ardent studio, under the guidance of sound engineer Adam Hill. The core trio also enlisted the talents of Lucero's Rick Steff on keys for this effort. Blades Of Grass is an old school rock'n'roll record with nods to the sounds of Humble Pie, Jeff Beck Group and others. It’s heavy music bathed in blues, folk and psychedelia, with chops to spare and a working class point of view. The band already has two independent releases under their belt, including an album with renown Memphis producer Doug Easley, and has toured extensively in the Southeast, with a couple of East Coast runs, and an eight week U.S. tour with Radio Moscow.

NORTH CAROLINA BAND LOWLAND HUM ANNOUNCES EAST COAST TOUR DEBUT ALBUM NATIVE AIR OUT AUGUST 6

Lowland Hum, the multisensory artistic collaboration of husband and wife duo Daniel Levi Goans and Lauren Plank Goans will self-release their first full-length album, Native Air, on August 6. The band then kicks off an East Coast tour on August 9 with an album release show at their beloved neighborhood bookshop Glenwood Coffee & Books in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The self-produced Native Air was recorded at Daniel’s parents’ home and mixed by Rick Parker, whose recent work with Lord Huron the pair admired. The album was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign and was mastered by Brent Lambert at Kitchen Mastering in Carrboro, NC. NPR recently premiered the video to the song “War Is Over” which can be viewed HERE.

Although folk music is the primary medium of Lowland Hum, the band incorporates a curated multisensory experience to fully engage audiences during their live show. Inspired by Lauren’s independent design and publishing business, Florida House Press, the band seeks to seamlessly integrate visual, musical and even olfactory methods during performances. The duo create illuminated art installations to frame their performances, and distribute handmade lyric booklets and bread from local bakeries to cultivate a communal experience.

Daniel and Lauren met while Daniel was working on his solo album. Lauren quickly became one of his most trusted collaborators, ultimately singing on four tracks. Shortly thereafter, they married and formed Lowland Hum, writing and recording all of their songs collaboratively. The pair were drawn to the name as it alludes to “what is felt but not seen; the buzzing electricity underneath everything.”

EARTH CRISIS Takes Break From Recording To Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of Firestorm With Live Performances

The members of EARTH CRISIS are readying for their first live dates since early February. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of their landmark Firestorm EP, the band will mark the milestone with performances on both coasts and a quick trip south of the border before resuming work on their anticipated new album. Joining the band will be Shai Hulud, Thy Will Be Done, and White Widows Pact for the east coast dates with Lionheart and Harness completing the billing for the west. Tickets are still available via notable agencies and all venue box offices.

EARTH CRISIS guitarist Scott Crouse recently said, “We can’t believe we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Firestorm. None of us were even 20 years old when we recorded it. Its release forever changed our lives and, we are told, many other people’s. Come out and help us do this right.” When the dates were initially announced mid-May, the band noted to Alternative Press Magazine, "Come celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Firestorm EP with us! We'll be playing the EP in its entirety, plus some rarely played other songs."

LiveHighFive.com calls Firestorm, “one of the heaviest and most influential recordings in hardcore history.” Released via Victory Records in 1993, Wikipedia calls it “one of the more controversial releases in US hardcore history.” The EP would be followed by the release of the EARTH CRISIS’ full-length debut, Destroy the Machines, in 1995.

Syracuse, New York’s EARTH CRISIS was founded in 1989. The band has over 200,000 catalog sales to date, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Regardless of passing trends, the five-piece has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly, respected their fans in the 20-plus years of their performing career. Signing with Candlelight Records late 2012, the band enters a brand new chapter in their career. Vocalist Karl Buechner said, “I’m really looking forward to sharing this next chapter of EXC with Candlelight Records. I think they’ve proven to know the genre well, and will help push us in the right direction.” Reacting to the signing, Lambgoat.com editor Alex Arnold noted, “EARTH CRISIS has made a name for itself not only through punishing metal and hardcore, but via staunch support of straight edge, animal rights, and veganism. Few bands command the respect that EARTH CRISISdoes, and they’ve earned it through 20 years of hard work and consistency.”

Maldivian melodic heavy metal band NOTHNEGAL and their international label Season of Mist have issued an updated release date for the band’s upcoming experimental self-titled EP. The new release North American release date for the EP will be August 6, 2013. The EP will release in all other territories a week prior on July 29^th.

“This EP will have an experimental sound inspired from traditional music of the Maldives with the lyrics being based on the folklore, beliefs and legends of the islands here,” states guitarist Hilarl. “We wouldn't say that this is the successor of Decadence, as the sound on these songs would be far from our normal sound, so we want to treat this as more of an experimental release. We are curious to know the people's reaction to this. We have already started writing the material for our next full length album which would have a more familiar sound to the fans.”

Hilarl adds, “The other major change on this would be the fact that our longtime guitarist Fufu, who is also a founding member of NOTHNEGAL was not able to be part of the songwriting and recording of this EP due to personal commitments. Chippe' (Serenity Dies) filled in for him.”

The EP was recorded at Vakaruge Studios in the Maldives with producer Shamheed, with additional production being handled by Matt Hyde (Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine, As I Lay Dying) and Paul Reeve (MUSE). TheNOTHNEGAL EP will consist of four tracks and will be released exclusively through digital retailers in North America and other parts of the world.

October Gold, an acoustic alt-folk duo based out of Montreal, is the latest collaboration of singer/songwriter Kit Soden and his partner in music (and life), violinist Aliza Thibodeau. This marriage of Soden’s folksy roots and Thibodeau’s classical sensibilities has created a unique sound that has been described as “painting your imagination with song.”
Since 2010, October Gold has been quietly captivating audiences across North America and Europe. The release of their first album, Into the Silence, showed the depth of sound the duo had developed in such a short period of time, apparent as well in their upcoming follow-up.
Aside from the noticeable chemistry between these two emerging artists, October Gold has managed to bring together a collection of brilliant musicians during the recording of their albums. Over 20 different instruments came together to create the mythical symphonic sounds of Into the Silence, resulting in a combination of powerful orchestral emotions and knee- slapping, hoe-down riffs.
October Goldʼs soon to be released sophomore album, Bridge of the Sun, makes use of this rich, fully orchestrated sound, as well as the talents of author Steven Erikson. The albumʼs lyrics are derived from poetry scattered throughout Eriksonʼs best-selling series, ʻThe Malazan Book of the Fallen.ʼ A concept album, Bridge of the Sun walks the line between imagination and reality, holding a special connection for Malazan fans while still standing on its own as an independent collection of songs.
October Gold continues to tour North America and Europe, and will be releasing Bridge of the Sun in July 2013.

Woods announces full Summer / Fall tour, stream both sides of their new single now

In July the band will tour the East Coast and Midwest with Parquet Courts, including a return trip to Pitchfork Fest in Chicago. In September they'll headline their own Woodsist Festival, with events in Big Sur and Pioneertown, California - on the Sept. West Coast run they'll be joined by pals The Fresh & Onlys. The band will release a new single on July 9 in celebration of the tour, and on the B-side they cover The Kinks' "God's Children." More about the new single: The recording of these songs serves as a farewell to Rear House, Woods' home, recording studio, creative refuge and beloved shithole for 10 long years. "God's Children" is a classic Kinks tune from the soundtrack to the 1971 British film "Percy." "Be All Be Easy," originally from 2011's Sun and Shade, was re-recorded to capture the live form that's taken shape since it's original release. AMON AMARTH Score Their Strongest Chart Impacts Around The World With New Album Deceiver of the Gods 

Band Set To Unleash “Father Of The Wolf” Video; Main Stage Slot On North American Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest Underway

The release of Deceiver of the Gods, the latest studio album from Swedish melodic death metal titans, AMON AMARTH, has broken the band's previous sales records around the world.  The album landed at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #19 on the Top Current Albums Chart. The band’s last album, Surtur Rising, entered the Top 200 Chart at #34 making Deceiver of the Gods the band’s highest charting record to date.

In Germany, Deceiver of the Gods entered the Top 100 Chart at #3, the official Media Market/Saturn Chart at #3 and the German Media Control Weekend Trend Chart at #2.

Deceiver of the Gods came in at #9 on Canada’s Top 200 Chart, #2 on the Hard Music Charts and #21 on the Digital Music Chart. Additionally, the record came in at #2 on the iTunes Metal Chart, #2 on the iTunes Rock Chart and #7 on the iTunes Top 200.

In the UK, the record entered the official Album Charts at #67, the Rock/Metal Chart at #4 and the Independent Chart at #14 marking the highest UK chart placements for the band yet.  

Elsewhere, Deceiver of the Gods came in at #9 on the Top 100 Album Chart in Switzerland, #7 on the Austrian Top 100, #9 in Sweden, #27 in Denmark, #51 in France, #34 in Czech Republic and #51 in Hungary.

Deceiver of the Gods, released in North America via Metal Blade Records on June 25th, was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Killswitch Engage, Megadeth, Opeth) and is reaping critical accolades internationally.  Notes Decibel Magazine in a 9/10 rating of the record: “Deceiver of the Gods goes from rampaging to brooding to anthemic over a well-conceived trajectory…. Literally invading U.S. shores, AMON AMARTH's main stage slot on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest stuck awe into the hearts of media and fans alike when it opened last Saturday in San Bernardino, California. The band's mammoth stage production, including a Viking Longboat and the amassing armies in the war between Odin and Loki, has lit up the internet with excitement for the band's set.  Said Metalassault.com, "the stunning stage production was what really made this AMON AMARTH show stand out from their own past shows, and indeed from all other bands that played this festival."
