COCAINE MOUSTACHE: New Album, 'On The Mirror' OUT NOW on Reversed Records - Available for Purchase Now on iTunes and CD Baby!

COCAINE MOUSTACHE: New Album, ‘On The Mirror’ OUT NOW on Reversed Records – Available for Purchase Now on iTunes and CD Baby!

Are you tired of the mundane societal pressures and trends that make music generic, sterile, and emotionless? Can you remember the last time when a song actually made you feel something other than wanting to buy the latest pair of designer jeans, or take a dump? Do you wish your emo neighbors would just cut themselves already? Are you ready to party?

Don't fret! COCAINE MOUSTACHE’s debut album, On The Mirror, is ready for the world to inhale now with purchase from iTunes or CD Baby! The album will go on sale in Canada in January 2012. An orgy for the ears, this is the perfect soundtrack to a world that is in need of a killer party.

Singer White Willie Sniffsum only has one thing to say, “If this record isn’t the best thing you’ve heard in decades, GO FUCK YOURSELF!”

Conceived in 2009 when an ongoing party turned into a band, COCAINE MOUSTACHE created "Good Time" songs, influenced by soul, rock, blues, and funk with a hard edge. COCAINE MOUSTACHE joined forces in 2010 with Reversed Records and Producer/Juno Award winning engineer Rob Shallcross, who has captured these epic sessions. The result is this nine track sonic cocktail of booze-fueled anthems that will be one of most dangerous sounding rock records to come out since the '80's. Starting with a sell-out crowd at their first show, COCAINE MOUSTACHE quickly made a name for themselves. This uncontrollable party has helped them to land opening slots for Nashville Pussy, 3 Inches Of Blood, and The Dayglo Abortions.

COCAINE MOUSTACHE “On The Mirror” tracklisting:
1.         The Drip
2.         Out Of My Hands
3.         Better Back In Time
4.         The Pledge
5.         Cocaine Moustache
6.         Garbage Bags And Shovels

ABYSMAL DAWN: Debut Music Video, Kick-Off U.S. Tour

ABYSMAL DAWN has debuted a brand new music video for the song "My Own Savior" exclusively via Metal Injection at this location. The video was created by Rob Mensas as part of a fan video contest with the site. Charles Elliot of ABYSMAL DAWN had this to say about the winning video:

"What can we say other than this guy really impressed us with this video! The dark religious and industrial imagery of the clip fit the song and band perfectly and the look of it is just stunning. You even see the trademark Abysmal Dawn eclipse which was a nice touch as well. Great editing and post effects make this the winner by far. Truly proud to call this our official video. We're drinking and partying with this guy for sure when we see him on our tour with Obscura!"

Additionally, ABYSMAL DAWN has kicked off an extensive North American tour as direct support to label-mates OBSCURA.  The tour begins tonight in Wilmington, Delaware and runs through Dec. 7 with additional support from LAST CHANCE TO REASON (select dates) and ENFOLD DARKNESS (select dates).  A full list of dates is included below.

Early next year, the Los Angeles-based death metal band will re-issue their long out-of-print debut album, 'From Ashes', on January 17th via Relapse Records.  Originally released in 2006, this wildly underrated album will feature 3 bonus tracks and is available for pre-order now at this location.

Ani DiFranco "Which Side Are You On?" First New Album in Three Years

ANI DIFRANCO RETURNS WITH HER FIRST
NEW ALBUM IN MORE THAN THREE YEARS

Which Side Are You On?
Release Date January 17, 2012

Powerful collection features array of iconic guests, including
Ivan & Cyril Neville, Anaïs Mitchell, and the legendary Pete Seeger
JTSinger/songwriter/guitarist Ani DiFranco has announced the upcoming release of her eagerly awaited new album. Which Side Are You On? arrives via the Grammy-winning artist's own Righteous Babe Records on January 17, 2012.

Which Side Are You On? marks DiFranco's first studio album in more than three years. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today. Backing DiFranco is a remarkably diverse line-up of stellar musicians, including members of her own crack touring band as well as such guest players as Ivan and Cyril Neville (of New Orleans' first family of funk and R&B, The Neville Brothers), avant-saxophonist Skerik (Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, The Meters), acclaimed singer/songwriter (and Righteous Babe recording artist) Anaïs Mitchell, guitarist Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Amos Lee), and a host of New Orleans-based horn players known for their work in such outfits as Galactic, Bonerama, and The Rebirth Brass Band.

What's more, Ani is joined on her stunning new version of Which Side Are You On? by the aforementioned Pete Seeger, whom she praises as "my elder, my forefather in folk music and political song." DiFranco was inspired to record the famed protest anthem after being invited to perform at Seeger's 90th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden in May 2009. She contributed her own straight-from-the headlines verses to the song and has used it to close her own live shows ever since. The newly recorded version of Which Side Are You On? is a funk-fueled epic, incorporating not just Ani's band, but Seeger himself on banjo and vocals alongside The Rivertown Kids, a Hudson Valley-based children's chorus, and The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders, a brass band consisting of students from The Roots of Music, a music education program for at-risk middle-school students in New Orleans.

"All of my musical community, my comrades, are in there," says Ani of the cross-generational recording. Which Side Are You On? was co-produced by DiFranco and her longtime collaborator Mike Napolitano over a series of sessions in 2010 and 2011. The basic tracks feature two slightly different versions of Ani's touring band, recorded at Bogalusa, Louisiana's renowned Studio In The Country, Brooklyn, New York's Brooklyn Bridge Studio, and her own New Orleans home studio, The Dugout.

The album represents an extraordinary snapshot of DiFranco's own life as well as her sense of where the country stands at this particular moment in time. The long gap since 2008's acclaimed Red Letter Year offered an array of new opportunities, including a backlog of songs and the ability to painstakingly fine-tune new recordings. Many of the songs featured on Which Side Are You On? are reflections on growing older and being totally okay with that process. As she sings on "If Yr Not," "If yr not getting happier as you get older/then yr fucking up."

Elsewhere, Ani tackles some of the many crises that are currently confronting the nation and the world, spanning environmental disaster, government inaction, and a culture hooked on comfort and acquisition at any cost. Songs such as "Amendment" and "J" see DiFranco addressing these issues with a directness that is striking even for an artist long known for her activism and outspoken point of view.

"I'm testing deeper waters with the political songs on this album," she says. "I feel a little bit frustrated, politically desperate. After having written hundreds of songs over decades, I think, 'Now what? How far can I go with this? Can you sing the word 'abortion,' can you sing the word 'patriarchy' - what can you sing and get away with? I guess I've been pushing my own boundaries of politics and art. Seeing what people have the ears to listen to. How big is my mouth? What can I get out of it successfully?"

The last two decades have seen DiFranco staking a historic claim on popular music, spanning 16 studio albums and countless live recordings (including 1997's RIAA gold-certified Living in Clip), EPs, and compilation contributions. Along the way she has amassed a devoted fan following, received numerous awards and nominations, earned rapturous reviews, and basically rewrote the rules of the recording industry.

Now Ani's recommendation about the album's opening track "Life Boat" can be said to apply to Which Side Are You On? as a whole: "Just listen, drop your idea of who is singing and what you already know they're saying, and go somewhere else, open yourself up to a new story."

Pitchfork premiered the video today, and it's available at the links below. The video, directed by XXXX, features a girl who falls down a rabbit hole to discover another world in perfect Lewis Carroll fashion.  It showcases the band performing in a high school gym auditorium, outfitted with beautiful flowers, as if nature has exploded at the prom. Experience the fantasy for yourself at the link below:

Don't miss Mates of State on the road, as they are currently in the middle of their Fall tour's second leg, which is in support of Mountaintops, recently released on September 13th via Barsuk Records to critical acclaim. About the Torche / Part Chimp Split EP:

Euphoric rockers Part Chimp return to the US for the last time this fall with their final recordings in hand, appearing on a split release and east coast tour supporting US noise merchants Torche.

Having supported their previous studio albums - "Thriller" (2009), "Chart Pimp" (2003) and "I Am Come" (2005) - with extensive, worldwide touring through Japan, North America and Europe, their new release is guaranteed to satisfy their die-hard following and curious first-timers alike.

Did we mention that this is the final time that Yanks can see these Brits? Well, it is.

Signed to Mogwai’s Rock Action label ten years ago, the Camberwell crew have recruited bassist Joe Mclaughlin (Kling Klang, The Left Hand, Plectrum) to add even more texture to their dense, pervading noise that doesn’t betray their roots as a traditional rock band. Fans of everyone from Black Sabbath and MC5 to TAD, Sonic Youth, The Melvins and Harvey Milk stand to be impressed by the band's suffocating but liberating vibe that sounds brain-shakingly loud regardless where the volume dial is turned on your stereo.

Imagine a primordial swamp of pre-grunge British noise / rock, when Britain pre-empted grunge... believe it, it is true... flannel shirts? Pah... we’re talking skinny faded black jeans with knees worn out, grubby t-shirts with crap sloganeering, and knackered shitkicking boots...

A band with a definite history, Part Chimp were formed following the dissolution of cult underground rockers Ligament by vocalist and guitarist Tim Cedar and drummer John Hamilton adding Iain Hinchliffe, purloined from legendary jock noise outfit Sawyer. Since their inception in 2000, the Chimp have built up a reputation as a formidable live act, blowing audiences away with a mix of sonic belligerence and unashamed rock ‘n’ roll showmanship.

Miami's sludge-pop heroes Torche are back following their latest "Songs For Singles" release and co-headlining US tour w/ Big Business, to bring their fans three new covers of legendary indie-rock icons Guided By Voices. Limited to 500 total copies pressed, the Part Chimp / Torche split 12" is definitely a rare treasure to beholden.

Cate Le Bon announces album details, wrapping up tour w/ St. Vincent

STREAM: "Puts Me To Work" -

Cate Le Bon photographed by Piper Ferguson

A new force in song craft, Cate Le Bon currently resides in Cardiff's infamous French quarter and befitting a songwriter who only writes in the dark, her music is a heady and highly personal Gallic stew of equal parts Nico, Malkmus and the chronicler's own emotional observations on the impossibility of existence.

Disheartened by the constant stream of dead animals she found herself burying in her parents farm in Penboyr, West Wales, and inspired by her fathers impeccable record collection (The Velvets, Neil Young, Pavement et. al) Cate packed her things and begrudgingly set sail for the neon lights and ample rehearsal space available in her country's capital.

Following a string of club night shows in the city, Cate caught the attention of Super Furry Animals front man Gruff Rhys who over a cigar and a glass of brandy offered her some support slots with his band. Cate continued to gig extensively in the UK releasing singles and a Welsh language EP (Edrych Yn Llygaid Ceffyl Benthyg) on the Indie Record label Peski.

Knowing that there's never too much of a good thing, Rhys roped Cate into his hip hop exchange program Neon Neon. What began as a guest vocal appearance on their debut single, "I Lust You," resulted in a year of touring the world as part of their band.

During a month's break from the road, with her confidence and enthusiasm doubled, Cate retired to Y Gerlan in the mountains of North Wales for a prophetic 10 day recording session which resulted in the release of her debut full length album Me Oh My to rapturous critical acclaim. On the back of the album's US release in April 2010, Cate completed a two month tour stretching from SXSW in Texas to Café Hotel in Los Angeles, sending postcards from Boston, Buffalo, San Francisco and New York along the way.

Like a dutiful daughter Cate returned for the British festival season, seeing out the summer at Glastonbury, The Great Escape and Field Day to name a few, and snatching free time between performances to write new material in her North Walian bolthole.

At the dawn of 2011, Cate re-entered the studio to start work on a new record of her own. Drawing on her experiences of the last year, Cate has created collection of pop nuggets that sound like they've fallen off the back of a broken carousel, imbued with the playfulness of Faust and Syd Barrett and the tropical melodies of Os Mutantes. Existential word play abounds and fuzz fused guitar lines tear through like an angry bee in a CAN on CYRK, which is due in the US via The Control Group label in early 2012.  "Puts Me To Work" is the first single from that record.

DESALMADO Confirm European Tour; New Album Completed

DESALMADO Confirm European Fall Tour
Full-Length In Final Stages; To Be Released Early 2012

Brazilian grindcore bandits DESALMADO have locked down a string of Europe live assaults, set to begin in less than two weeks. The band will invade Portugal on November 10th and rampage through several regions of the country before moving on to pillage audiences throughout Spain, Belgium, Holland, France, Denmark, Germany and Italy for a solid month, for the most part headlining clubs and DIY venues with support from brutal local acts in each market.

DESALMADO are currently in the mixing stages of completing their forthcoming full-length album, coming together for release sometime in the first quarter of 2012. The album was produced by Jean Dolabella of Sepultura and mastered by Jamal Ruhe at West West Side. The album's confirmed release date, track listing, cover art and more will be announced in the coming weeks, likely in the midst of the band's European assault, which will see the band performing material from the forthcoming album live at every show.
