Co-Headlining the AP Tour 2011 This Spring
BURBANK, CA - Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, fronted by singer and songwriter Craig Owens, will release their debut album, entitled D.R.U.G.S., on Decaydance/Sire Records February 22, 2011. Two songs off the album, "If You Think This Song Is About You It Probably Is" and "Mr. Owl Ate My Metal Worm" can currently be heard at www.thisisdrugs.com.
After Owens left his previous band, which he had fronted since 2001, he turned his energy toward creating a new project that would eclipse anything he'd done in the past by founding Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. "Over the last 12 months I've done a lot of growing as a human being, as far as figuring out who I am," Owens says. "The idea for this band stemmed from the fact that I wanted to do this right; I wanted to make the biggest band I possibly could, and that's exactly what I've done here."
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows pairs Owens with other musicians who have undergone similar experiences: From First To Last guitarist Matt Good, Matchbook Romance drummer Aaron Stern, Story Of The Year bassist Adam Russell and Underminded guitarist Nick Martin. Though they had never played together before, they have put their undeniable chemistry as a unit to use creating something vital and new.
Recorded in Los Angeles, CA with John Feldmann, (The Used, Panic at the Disco), Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows' debut is the most aggressive album Owens has made in his musical career, yet it still retains the keen sense of melody that has helped him become one of today's most celebrated frontmen. "It was so cathartic making this record because music is my form of therapy," he explains, "Almost all of our first headlining shows were sold out and we can't wait to start the AP Tour and play for all the fans we haven't met yet."
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows will be co-headlining the AP Tour 2011 this spring. The nationwide run kicks off March 18th in Dallas, TX and runs through May 6th in Cleveland, OH. The tour also includes a stop at SXSW. For ticket information please visit www.theaptour.ning.com.

Wire New Album Red Barked Tree Streaming on NPR; North American Tour Dates Announced
On January 11, 2011 Wire will release Red Barked Tree, the follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed, Object 47. The full album is streaming now on NPR.
At a time when back catalogue outsells fresh creativity and newcomers achieve fame by adding a lick of paint to their parents' record collections, it's unusual to find a band who, despite plying their trade for decades, are willing and able to make new work that's as vital and relevant as their own illustrious past recordings. Wire are such a band, and with Red Barked Tree they just might have succeeded in making a statement that will sound as strong in 30 years as their celebrated historical oeuvre does today.
Red Barked Tree rekindles a lyricism sometimes absent from Wire's previous work and reconnects with the live energy of performance, harnessed and channeled from extensive touring over the past few years.
Red Barked Tree was conceived, written and recorded mostly during 2010 by the pared-down line-up of Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey -- with no guests. Ranging from the hymnal "Adapt" to the barking sledgehammer art-punk of "Two Minutes," the album encompasses the full palette of style and nuance that has always endeared Wire to pastel-tinged pop aficionados and bleeding-edge avant-rockers alike.
Whatever Wire make is Wire music: this is the band's enigmatic guiding axiom. While Wire remain agnostic about the nature and identity of their aesthetic essence, it's always been instantly recognizable, manifesting itself throughout their heterogeneous work. Perhaps this enigma will be revealed when we find the "Red Barked Trees"....
Wire will be touring this spring in support Red Barked Tree.

Jim Bianco announces the release of his third LP Loudmouth on April 5.
Funded entirely from his fiercly loyal fan base,
Loudmouth is a return to form as Jim Bianco goes at it again:
speaking to the sinner and the heartbroken in all of us,
sifting through the filth and wreckage in his crooked heart and putting it to music
in a way that makes women want to simultaneously sleep with him and slap him in the face;
and men want to pick a fight and sing along.
Jim Bianco and the creation of Loudmouth
LOUDMOUTH |ˈloudˌmouθ|
Noun
a person who tends to talk too much in an offensive or tactless way.
And so Jim Bianco goes at it again; exposing, embarrassing and offending ex-girlfriends, future girlfriends, fellow singer/songwriters and, most notably, himself.
Speaking to the sinner and the heartbroken in all of us, Jim Bianco has sifted through the filth and wreckage in his crooked heart and put it to music in his new record, Loudmouth. And as always, he’s done it in a way that makes women want to simultaneously sleep with him and slap him in the face; and men want to pick a fight and sing along.
The songs on Loudmouth explore the reckless depths of a touring musician, the devastation of a broken heart, the irony of being in love with someone who treats you like shit and the whimsical inclinations of a temporary secretary who dreams of being an elevator operator.
“There is humor on this record, but there is a darkness that comes along with it. You’ll get an occasional laugh, but it won’t be free. And there is no love song. There are songs of lust, songs of loss and songs of longing, but no love song.”
Bianco, who has always been a fiercely independent artist, funded the record entirely through his fans.
“With the decline in funding for the arts that we’ve seen over the past few years, and the fact that music is so accessible that it’s essentially free, I’m thankful that I can put out an album and tour independently with only the support of my fans. I’m grateful that, as an artist who has a direct relationship with his fan base, I can continue making the music that I like for the people who want it – all without a middle-man to muck up the process.”
Bianco’s fans are also grateful for the direct line they have to him. But it’s not only about the music. There’s a sensibility that Bianco radiates in all his art. “I began blogging from the road just to pass the time. There’s something redemptive about having people read about my follies and laugh and cry along with me.” Bianco’s writing has received such a positive response from fans that he is in the process of publishing a book of short stories, which he plans to sell on tour in 2011.
As if that weren’t enough, Bianco has recently taken to writing, acting, directing and editing his own silent films, which have garnered not only the attention of his fans, but of cinephiles, including Lorenzo DeStefano, the head of the Ventura Film Society. "Jim Bianco's new silent films embrace and expand on a lost era of filmmaking...they illuminate the human spirit in a way that is honest, charming and at times quite profound."
But at heart, Bianco is a performer. And he’s no stranger to the stage, having toured with the likes of Squeeze, Shelby Lynn, Imogen Heap, Joshua Radin, Josh Ritter and Loudon Wainwright III, to name a few. He’s been part of the legendary Hotel Café tour since it’s inception. His live show can take you on a voyage through the weightlessness of falling in love, or into the dark, dirty depths of the red light district of your imagination. With a firecracker’s presence on-stage, vocal chords that crack the plaster, and an occasional burlesque dancer, it is truly a wonder to watch him command a room.
Over the years, Jim’s music has been featured in a wide array of formats from key placements on in films and high profile TV shows including True Blood, performances on late night’s Craig Ferguson and NPR’s Mountain Stage.
With Loudmouth, Bianco feels that his live show will be catapulted to a new level. “These songs demand more of me because of their candor,” says Bianco. “ They require all the tricks of my past performances – the intensity, the burlesque, the gitter; but also a resounding honesty that I’ve realized is fundamental in all worthwhile performances.”
Loudmouth captures the playful wit and spirit that has always defined Bianco, but is a marked departure from his earlier works. There’s plenty of mischief on the record, but there’s a certain maturity too. Not the kind of maturity that involves mortgages or afternoon naps; but the kind that is required to create something timeless.
With Loudmouth, it’s as if Bianco has transformed himself from the juggling clown of the circus into to it’s ringleader. But make no mistake - he’s still in the circus.
And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

MEGAN SLANKARD TO RELEASE LONG-AWAITED THIRD ALBUM
San Francisco, CA—Singer/songwriter Megan Slankard has made her fans wait long enough. Her new album, A Token of the Wreckage, is three years in the making, and if it’s any consolation to her rather large indie fan base, the wait was well worth it in many ways. The official release date is March 5, 2011 (street date March 8, 2011), following up 2005’s A Little Extra Sun, which followed 2003’s Freaky Little Story, which combined have sold more than 25,000 units to date. Megan continues to embrace her indie status and the grass roots movement that she has remained a part of. She also has grown a lot as an artist.
“The record almost wrote itself,” said Megan. “That doesn't mean it wasn't a ton of work, as it was probably one of the most challenging projects I've had to date, but it did feel like the record itself was dictating the direction. All I had to do was to listen and put my back into it. There is a theme of growing up and an awkward transition from being a child into facing adult situations that runs through the characters and songs on this album. Perhaps it's about trying to find out who you are after you've left your childhood behind you."
In addition to the twelve tracks that make up A Token of the Wreckage (co-produced by Megan and Jerry Becker and mixed by Counting Crows’ David Bryson), the video for the title track has already been released. Interpreted and directed by Matthew Ward, Megan says the video subtly reflects the song. “It could be about making light out of dark situations,” said Megan. “The song in a very general sense is about finding a piece of something meaningful in the din of the figurative collapse of things around you.”
While Megan has been pounding the pavement for several years, and has influences that range from The Beatles to Counting Crows to Prince to Metallica to Simon & Garfunkel; she is rarely pigeonholed with comparisons musically or vocally. However, more than one critic has compared her to Rikki Lee Jones. Fans will get to draw their own conclusions about that when Megan hits the road in support of A Token of the Wreckage, which she hopes to do a lot of in 2011. She also has been supported for a while by powerhouse AAA station KFOG in San Francisco, and hopes to nurture that relationship and build it into more national radio play. She has already opened for the likes of Colin Hay (Men at Work), Dan Vickrey of Counting Crows, David Knopfler of Dire Straits, Dishwalla, Hootie and the Blowfish and others. In fact, Megan has toured Europe multiple times with Knopfler.
Megan has placed in several songwriting competitions, including the 2009 IMA Vox Populi for her cover of Paul Simon’s “America.” She was also selected as a finalist in the 2008 and 2009 Musician’s Atlas/Borders Books Independent Music Awards, and as a semi-finalist in Discmaker’s 2007 Independent Music World Series, as well as the 2007 International Songwriting Competition. Also, TLC’s “What NOT to Wear” featured Megan and as a result, sales of Freaky Little Story reached #5 on Amazon.com. But now it’s time to turn the page and start a new chapter, and Megan hopes to do just that with A Token of the Wreckage.
“I am definitely excited to be releasing this record for many different reasons,” she said. “A big part of that is I haven't released a CD in years, but the biggest part is that I am absolutely thrilled with how this new record has turned out. Everything from the amazing local artist, here in San Francisco, who created the artwork, to the tracking done by my band, to the mixing by David Bryson of Counting Crows. This project also gave me a chance to finally record something with longtime fellow musician and engineer, Jerry Becker, who helped produce the record. Every one of these things brought it to life."

Netherfriends release a new album "Alap," recorded during a break in the 50 Songs 50 States tour!
Netherfriends spent much of 2010 traveling
from Florida to Maine, California to Alaska on the 50 Songs 50 States touring adventure.
What does a prolific touring machine do during holiday time off?
Why record an improv drone album, of course!
Alap, a term used in Indian classical music for a sectin that is improvised and free flowing,
is up for free release from Netherfriends this week via their BandCamp page!
Accompanying videos are being created by the minds behind the Lateral Label,
who released Netherfriends' debut LP Barry and Sherry.
Check out videos for "Saturday," "Sunday" and "Monday."
Netherfriends will undertake their heftiest voyage of the 50 Songs 50 States tour to Hawaii April 3-14.
All "Name Your Own Price" album purchases on BandCamp will help them reach the 50th State in the Union.
Shawn Rosenblatt (Netherfriends) on Alap
This is not a typical Netherfriends release. The recording of this album was something I did for a week during Christmas because I don't celebrate and I was bored out of my mind!! I had been working hard on the 50 state songs and needed a short break. I did one song a day and was inspired after playing a similar sounding set at a yoga studio. I figured since the music was so easy and fun to make that I could record one session a day for a week and release it. I think the music should be listened to while relaxing or doing work. Maybe since the pieces are named after the days of the week, a listener could listen to one piece a day as a way to maybe mediate or relax. Easy listening d00ds.
Some thoughts and reflections on the 50 Songs 50 States Tour
Alaska
Played a house show the night of my birthday in a huge log cabin with a spiral staircase in the middle and slept in this crows nest at the top of the cabin looking out over Fairbanks.
Seattle, Washington
Being a bum for a month and staying/meeting some amazing new friends. Riding a brake-less bike that my friend let me borrow was a terrible idea.
Oakland, California
The last minute shows are the best. We played a backyard BBQ on Labor Day with fireworks being shot off by the neighbors. In Sacramento getting paid way too much.
Mobile, Alabama
Running out of gas in at 3AM caused me to miss recording in the state. Got handed a bag of mushrooms for playing "a decent set."
Casper, Wyoming
Playing a steak house with Chad Lorne the tap dancing/beer on the head balancing act. INCREDIBLE! Taking that dude on the road at some point.
North Carolina
We got asked to take a picture with a bunch of dudes because they thought we were famous and then causing a handful of teens to do the same. When they asked who we were, we told them that we weren't really allowed to say, but they will find out soon.
Chicago, Illinois
Returning to Chicago and being without a home in the city where I had lived for the last 5 years.

PALE CHALICE: Debut EP Details Released
San Francisco heathens PALE CHALICE, the latest acquisition to The Flenser's blackened roster, have finalized the details to their debut EP, set for CD and digital release on March 8th, 2011, Recorded at Death Midi Soundlab by Navene Koperweis (drummer for Animals as Leaders), the expansive four-song Afflicting The Dichotomy Of Trepid Creation EP captures nearly half-an-hour of this fairly new yet wholly ripened act's honed, black metal skills, bearing more content and gritty traction than many full-length releases from the genre we'll see released throughout the coming year. View the album's cover art and more at this location.
Afflicting The Dichotomy Of Trepid Creation Track Listing:
1. Transplant Of Dimensional Recourse
2. Command of the Formless
3. Caressed by a Feeble Flame
4. Ascend the Idyllic Sphere
Propagating intensely memorable yet brutal riffs, devoid of filler, the band's lyrics are dark and abstract, with influences which range from introverted psychosis to dimensional anomalies.
The outfit that would become PALE CHALICE was born as 2008 was dying off, essentially bearing three founding members: Oram Evad, Masthantric Nodrab and Baneist Nonrutin. A plethora of bassists and vocalists persisted through the years, until early 2010, when Ephemeral Domignostika (Mastery, Pandiscordian Necrogenesis, ex-Horn of Dagoth) and Grobahn Huv were added as permanent members.
While a great deal of touring from PALE CHALICE is not planned for the immediate future, the band are capable of annihilating live audiences as the desire, having already provided live support locally for internationally touring acts such as Watain and Goatwhore, as well as local favorites and now lablemates Necrite since they took the act live in the Summer of 2010.
Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming EP, sporadic live actions and more on PALE CHALICE throughout the coming year. Promos of The Dichotomy Of Trepid Creation will be available to journalists worldwide in the coming days via Earsplit.

More About Carol Bui
Tacoma, Washington’s Carol Bui took up drums and Middle Eastern dance over the years since her last album, and these new pursuits play vital roles on Bui’s upcoming third record Red Ship. The album is set for release on March 8th, 2011 on Bui’s own Ex Oh Records and while she has yet to be approached to blog about Middle Eastern Dance, Bui recently discussed being a new percussionist with Modern Drummer HERE.
Like Red Ship’s lead single “Mira: You’re Free With Me” released last November, the new track “‘Geisha’ Means ‘Open-minded’” is a festive, fiery blend of celebratory Middle Eastern and North African percussion coupled with progressive pop melodic tendencies. My Old Kentucky Blog debuted the new song today HERE previously proclaimed Bui’s last album the completion of the rock trifecta that also includes Liz Phair’s Exile In Guyille and PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me.
The provocative content, lush production (once again by TJ Lipple of Aloha), and unique arrangements demonstrate what Bui chooses to term “the primitive means of expressing joy.” She explains by asking, “What did people do to make music and express happiness back when there weren’t sophisticated instruments around? They hit things! And sang! And danced! This record is to invoke that spirit.”
