STUCK MOJO

Napalm Records has signed STUCK MOJO. The Band is undoubtedly among the founders of Crossover Metal and has released one hit album after the other since 1995. Now, Napalm Records takes on the band and re-releases their latest album Southern Born Killer including 3 new unreleased bonus tracks.
STUCK MOJO Guitarist Rich Ward: "we feel good about Napalm; they understand that their groups need to take their music to their fans by touring and they have given us the support we need to make records and tour - without taking a piece of everything which seems to be a common practice with most labels these days."

Southern Born Killers hits the streets on March 4th in North America and the band will embark on a European tour just in time for this release!

LOTUS

ANNOUNCES THEIR "COPY PASTE REPEAT" TOUR

LOOK FOR NEW ALBUMS, ESCAPING SARGASSO SEA AND
COPY PASTE REPEAT: LOTUS REMIXED IN STORES NOW

For those waiting for a concert experience with the dynamics of a rock band (read: no laptops), the dance inducing rhythms of club music, and the sophistication of modern electronica, an unlikely musical alternative has arrived in the form of the band Lotus. Formed at a Mennonite college that had banned on-campus dancing as late as the 1980’s, Lotus brings their club-worthy beats and rocking instrumental anthems to theaters throughout the country this fall. No glow-stick bracelets, pretentious Can trivia, or expensive distressed fashion required.

In January 2008, Lotus embarks on their "Copy Paste Repeat" tour, which celebrates the release of Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed, and album the band released this past November. The recording offers 12 remixes by renowned producers including DFA Records artist Juan Maclean, DJ Harry, and Lotus’s own Jesse Miller. Lotus’s post/electro/dancerock is deconstructed and reassembled into club ready dance, dub, glitch-hop, and IDM tracks. The band’s website is currently offering up the source files for the track ‘Bubonic Tonic’ for fans to create their own remix and submit for review. The site will feature the band’s favorite submissions. Visit www.lotusvibes.com for details.

Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed comes on the heels of the band’s third studio album. Escaping Sargasso Sea, released May 2007, is a double-disc live album that draws from two previous studio albums, Nomad and The Strength of Weak Ties , along with never before released material. From the post/math-rock of "When H Binds to O" to the slippery dance beats of "Wax," this collection shows Lotus’s ability to deconstruct, stretch, and rebuild their compositions spontaneously on stage. Restraining from flaunting their individual chops, Lotus builds compositions on catchy melodies and heavy grooves.

The five-piece band has creatively fused electronic dance music with instrumental post-rock for eight years. The result is an explosive live show that has made crowds get down across the US, Canada, and Japan. Armed with a massive light rig and one of the most energetic shows on the circuit, Lotus proves why they have become a go-to act for late night festival slots. This tour takes the band into renowned theatres nationwide including Georgia Theatre in Athens, the Recher Theatre in Towson, and the Granada Theater in Dallas, among others.

Lotus’ complete list of confirmed dates is as follows:

High Score's Johnnie Newman is bombarding the airwaves

"Birds of Paradise" takes flight

According to its author (Johnnie Newman), They Set You Up is a mostly jazz-free answer to Steely Dan's The Royal Scam. If the Eagles' Hotel California and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours had a three-way with Michael Jackson's Off The Wall while watching The Breakfast Club - then They Set You Up would be the resulting bastard lovechild. " In other words, it's perfect for weddings and bar mitzvahs."

Johnnie Newman is a singer, songwriter, rocker and, believe it or not, a one time writer of soap opera. Soaps must be in his blood since his parents met on the CBS daytime serial Guiding Light in the early 70's. Newman was born in NYC and caught music fever as a young kid. After experimenting with every kind of a variety of musical directions he has settled on a decisively skewed-pop position and a uniquely melodic one at that.

In college, Johnnie began his mutually beneficial kinship with the technically illegal substance known throughout the world as marijuana. Music composition soon followed. Whole days were subsequently lost, unsentimental drum beats were found.... Johnnie began writing Aphex Twin inspired electronic madrigals. These first homemade records, the majority of which were instrumental, resembled a thudding attempt at sonic profundity.

A year or two later, Johnnie had secured a precarious writing contract with the NBC soap opera Days Of Our Lives. With a new but fickle reservoir of spendable cash, Johnnie bought a homemade recording rig and began his songwriting career in earnest, under the clunky moniker Jack Studio. A hundred lo-fi songs followed and Johnnie met an unctuous music manager who introduced him to prodigious music producer and unforgiving hedonist Oliver Goldstein, of Ima Robot fame. Within an hour, Goldstein and Newman were writing songs in a dizzying haze of acute pharmaceutical psychosis. Inspired by a Quixotic fit of grand delusion, they decided to start a band. They called the band Tarzana. DJ Lethal of House of Pain soon joined, but the group dissembled after five shows due to a general lack of courage. Johnnie, licking his wounds on a summer family vacation - aboard a Mediterranean cruise liner which should have been called the Sycophant of the Seas - managed to find a quiet and rarely-frequented room replete with decades-old board games and a Yamaha grand piano. The room was called Cloud 9. It was here, amidst six cubic tons of banana daiquiris, floating blackjack tables and belly-flop contests, that Johnnie would write the bulk of the songs for his proper debut EP They Set You Up.

THE TOMORROW SHOW WITH TOM SNYDER:

JOHN, PAUL, TOM & RINGO

John Lennon’s Last Televised Interview
Finally Available on DVD from Shout! Factory,
as well as Interviews with Ringo Starr,
and Paul and Linda McCartney

IN STORES APRIL 1, 2008 FROM SHOUT! FACTORY

Los Angeles, CA – On April 25, 1975, John Lennon gave what was to be his last televised interview on “The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder.” No one knew then that Lennon would be taking an extended hiatus from public life, taking time to raise his son and live a less public life. Speaking openly on the subjects of drug use, the breakup of the Beatles, and his immigration problems while seeking permanent residency in the U.S., the interview Lennon gave Tom Snyder in 1975 revealed he had tremendous humility and an affecting sense of humor.

Five years after that interview, Lennon was fatally shot while coming home from a recording session. The day after the shooting and Lennon’s tragic death, “The Tomorrow Show” re-aired that last interview in tribute to him. Shout! Factory’s “The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom And Ringo” contains the complete interview with Lennon as rebroadcast on December 9, 1980, along with interviews from that day with journalist Lisa Robinson and Lennon friend and producer Jack Douglas. The show is a poignant remembrance of the aftermath of his murder and the huge void his passing had on music, and indeed, the world.

The 2-DVD set “The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo” also includes a 1981 interview with Ringo Starr, who discusses his film and music career, as well as remembrances of his band mate and friend John Lennon, and a 1979 interview with Paul and Linda McCartney, Denny Laine & Laurence Juber, from a stage in London, who were then enjoying huge success with Wings.

“The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder” premiered in October 1973 in the late-night time slot following Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” and continued in one form or another until January 1982. Also available on DVD from Shout! Factory are “The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: Punk & New Wave,” featuring Elvis Costello, John Lydon, Iggy Pop, The Jam, Patti Smith, The Ramones, Joan Jett, and The Plasmatics, and “The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: Tom Snyder’s Electric Kool-Aid Talk Show,” featuring interviews with Timothy Leary, Tom Wolfe, Ken Kesey, and performances by The Grateful Dead.

“The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom And Ringo”
Distributed by Vivendi Universal
Selection Number: SF 10129
Suggested List Price: $24.99
Release Date: April 1, 2008

Disc One:
John Lennon Tribute Original Air Date 12/9/80

Additional Guests: Lennon Immigration Attorney Leon Wildes, Journalist Lisa Robinson & Music Producer Jack Douglas

It was December 9, 1980, and John Lennon had been shot and killed just one day earlier outside his New York apartment. Not since April 25, 1975, on The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder had Lennon sat with anyone for a television interview. Snyder re-aired his conversation with the former Beatle while new guests Lisa Robinson and Jack Douglas provided additional commentary in light of the previous day’s tragic event.

Disc Two:
Paul McCartney Interview Original Air Date 12/20/79
Features Wings Music Video “Spin It On”
Additional Guests: Fellow Wings members Linda McCartney, Denny Laine & Laurence Juber

Live via satellite from London, it’s Paul McCartney! By 1979 Wings was already a great band with a solid following, but that didn’t stop Tom Snyder from asking Paul about a Beatles reunion. This conversation took place via satellite from London just prior to Wings going onstage for a holiday concert.

Ringo Starr Interview Original Air Date 11/25/81
Features Ringo Starr’s Music Video “Wrack My Brain”
Additional Guest: Actress (and Ringo’s wife) Barbra Bach, Actress Angie Dickinson

Interviewed in Los Angeles, Ringo talks about his then-current album Stop And Smell The Roses—a title that reflects what Ringo was in effect doing at that time after years of “turmoil, ecstasy, frenzy and confusion,” as Tom notes. Ringo also speaks out about his dear friend John Lennon.

The Dodos

Release Sophomore LP “Visiter” on Frenchkiss Records March 18th 2008 Play El Rey Theatre December 15th With Les Savy Fav

Music for Robots: “Singer/guitarist Meric Long sweeps his voice along in a similar croon to Zach Condon without sounding as pretentious or needy. The drums fill in the spaces with clicks and clacks of wood on metal, creating an air of urgency that moves your body along on impulse alone. It's the type of thing that makes you brush your teeth a few turns faster, drink your coffee with a gulp not a sip -- it's a subtle speed that brushes you along like a wave or the wind.”

Visiter, by San Francisco band The Dodos, is their second full length and first for Frenchkiss. Originally formed in 2006 under the moniker Dodobird as a one man acoustic act, Meric Long would gig around SF playing folky guitar with a combination of loops and ambient keyboards. Having already studied West African Ewe drumming, Meric got turned onto country blues fingerpicking and sought to create a band where the drumming could be a center role and help bring out the syncopated rhythms coming out of the acoustic guitar. Through a chance introduction by a roommate, Meric met Santa Cruz transplant Logan Kroeber, who had also been experimenting with drumming, but in the area of progressive metal. Eventually the band changed their name to the Dodos, through constant harrowing from first tourmates Peter and the Wolf, and got a rehearsal studio where they'd spend long hours improvising the music that would become their first record& nbsp; Beware of the Maniacs. The band quit their day jobs as a line cook and a printer and hit the road in Oct. 2006.

The Dodos' principal concept behind Visiter was to reconnect with the energy and intensity of their live show. They decided to return to Type Foundry Studio where Beware of the Maniacs had been recorded. With producer/engineer John Askew back at the helm, they began expounding upon what they had learned since the previous record. The basic drum and guitar takes were recorded live simultaneously with very minimal post production. Type Foundry's warehouse-sized live room led to experimentation with mic placement, capturing a variety of ambient & natural sounds. At one point during tracking, the audible din of a thunderstorm inspired an impromptu horn session between Meric and guest trumpeter, Cory Gray. A small section of this can be heard between the songs "Fools" and "Joe's Waltz" on the record.

Visiter was completely written while on the road from the fall of 2006 to the summer of 2007.

The name of the record came from a drawing a kid did for them when they played for his special education class at Dorsey High in South Central on a road trip down to LA. With all of their time being spent on the road, Meric's lyrics drew heavily from his experiences while touring. They would come home for days at a time, and then leave for a month, always coming and going, which pretty much shaped every relationship the band had during that year.

The Dodos have recently toured with Jennifer Gentle and Akron Family along w/ several west coast appearances w/ Les Savy Fav. 2008 will bring even more touring for them with a Spring tour in the works and a stop at this year's SXSW festival.
