"Came Back Haunted" is the lead single from Nine Inch Nails' new full-length album, Hesitation Marks, which Columbia Records will release on September 3. Rolling Stone observed, "['Came Back Haunted'] rides a sleek electronic bassline over a jittery, popping beat that is increasingly overlaid with swirls of synthesizers as the tune builds to a slashing guitar break...Reznor sings with restrained, clenched-jaw intensity, his voice enveloped by the music." SPIN summed it up in one word: "Awesome." Billboard praised "Came Back Haunted" as "a bouncy electronic track with flourishes of NIN's familiar gritty electric guitar" while Entertainment Weekly hailed it as "new classic Trent" and People called the track "electro-fying."
