IN TOP 40 RADIO PLAY
Breakthrough New Artist To Perform
'ONE OF THE BOYS' Album In 50-City 2009 World Tour
(NEW YORK, NY November 18, 2008) - This years best new artist keeps breaking through. Capitol Records' own KATY PERRY adds another milestone to her already remarkable career, as the high-voltage smash "Hot N Cold" becomes her second No. 1-charted hit, reflecting national play in America's Top 40 radio format. The platinum-selling ONE OF THE BOYS rebounded into the Top 25 of the national Billboard Top 200 album chart five months after its release, thanks to the massive radio play of Katy's second consecutive chart-topper. The song is also No. 1 in Canada and Australia and in the Top 15 in the UK, Finland, Holland and New Zealand.
Katy begins her first worldwide headline tour in early 2009, starting January 23rd in Seattle, WA, and closing in her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA in May, with stops in 50 cities. Tickets are currently on sale.
Katy's debut single, "I Kissed a Girl," was her first international No. 1 hit. Its seven-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 equaled the Capitol Records label record previously set by The Beatles' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". The song was the 1,000th American No. 1 hit of the rock era, surpassing 2 million domestic paid downloads, and now approaching 6 million in global single sales. In addition, the song was No. 1 nationally in 15 countries, including the U.K., Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Australia as well as a No. 1 iTunes download in over a dozen countries, and a No. 1 airplay smash in 20 territories.
ONE OF THE BOYS made its debut at No. 9 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart, and No. 4 on the Top Digital Album chart, on July 5, 2008. The album track fan favorite "Thinking of You" is being prepared for single release in December.
