Pitchfork Advance is streaming the impressive sophomore full-length I'll Be The Tornado(out 10/14/14 on 6131 Records) from New Jersey natives Dads this week.
I'll Be The Tornado sees the duo branching out into guitar-driven indie rock, with lyrics that manage to be perfect sketches of what it's like to transition from youthful angst to adulthood. There's something very powerful and connective that lurks in singer/drummer John Bradley's words, and a quality to his voice that makes the album feel very human.Pitchfork said in a review of the album's single "Chewing Ghosts", "If there ever was an anthem for kids trying to learn from their mistakes and treat youth as a mile marker instead of a residence, Dads' "Chewing Ghosts" is as catchy, idiosyncratic, and relatable of one as could be."
Dads are set to embark on their first full North America headline tour this fall, bringing along Tiny Moving Parts, Nai Harvest, and Choir Vandals to support them, and appearing at The Fest 13 this month as well. The band recently wrapped up a summer North American support run with Touché Amoré and Tigers Jaw as well as appearances at Riot Fest Chicago and Riot Fest Denver (all tour dates below).
