Wampire streams new album + on tour now

On the heels of early single "Wizard Staff" and "The Amazing Heart Attack" and as the band wraps up their West Coast tour with Temples tonight, Wampire are back today sharing a stream of their new album Bazaar in its entirety before its release next week. In addition to streaming the record in full, the band has provided some insight to each track in a Q&A with Noisey. Following the release of their debut album Curiosity in 2013, Wampire went from a duo most accustomed to playing house parties around their hometown of Portland to a five-piece band performing in venues all over the world with groups such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Foxygen, and Smith Westerns.

That 12-month span saw Wampire play more shows in more cities, countries, and continents than in all their previous years together combined -- a nearly non-stop barrage of new and memorable experiences that, above all else, forced the band members to become more fully immersed in music than at any other time in their lives.

As a result, when founding members and primary songwriters Rocky Tinder and Eric Phipps returned home at the tail end of the year, they immediately dove into the process of working on a new album in order to capitalize on the creative energy that had been steadily amassing during their days, weeks, and months on the road.

Says Phipps of that moment in time, "I holed up in a tiny room within a friend's warehouse and began knocking out as many different songs as I could. I tried not to look back, just wanting to explore everything I could possibly create. I started to feel like I was becoming a Kafka-esque insomniac musical novelist at one point."

The reference to the German writer is an apt one for a band that has always imbued its disarmingly off-kilter pop with tinges of paranoia and surrealism (both lyrically and musically), but even more fitting is the title of Wampire's new record: Bazaar.

Like the tantalizing blend of exotic treasures and captivating sensations its namesake suggests,Bazaar continually offers listeners a variety of unexpected and alluring sonic flavors over the course of its nine tracks -- ranging from raucous riffs ("Bad Attitude") to seductive sax ("Wizard Staff") to charmingly catchy choruses ("The Amazing Heart Attack").

As with their previous full-length Curiosity, Wampire recorded Bazaar with trusted producer Jacob Portrait (of Unknown Mortal Orchestra), though this time around the sessions took place at The Museum, a studio in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood, and were done directly to tape.

Far from home once again, Tinder and Phipps used the city to their advantage -- writing lyrics on the 40-minute bus ride to and from their temporary residence in Bed-Stuy and rushing to a shop down the street to buy a guitar -- one that looked and felt like it had been buried in dust for decades and had just the right analog sound -- as their allotted studio time was winding down.

Another important change was the addition of touring drummer Thomas Hoganson to the recording and songwriting process. Though Tinder and Phipps had previously sought to minimize distractions in the studio by just working with each other, Hoganson's diverse musical abilities (in addition to drums, he also plays piano and saxophone on Bazaar) made him an ideal collaborator. 

And so, after a year spent in vans and on planes, in European clubs, Australian beaches, and everywhere in between, Wampire emerged with more confidence, a stronger vision, and what is undeniably their best batch of songs to date. Bazaar will be available on CD, LP (Polyvinyl e-store limited edition of 300 on 180-gram clear purple, black), cassette and digitally.

New York City-based band HAERTS has unveiled details of their forthcoming self-titled debut album, available everywhere October 27. With the release of their buzzed about EP Hemiplegia last fall, HAERTS has quickly won over fans and garnered fantastic critical praise. Time Out New York named the group one of their “Rising New York City Bands You Need To Know.” In January, the band sold out their first-ever hometown headline show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tastemaker KEXP in Seattle helped launch the new single “Giving Up” with major support, while in the coming weeks, the band will appear on NPR’s World Café. And this year alone, HAERTS has performed at SXSW, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Firefly, Bunbury and Time festivals, in addition to touring with London Grammar and Bastille.

Deepsend Records - MISERICORDIA (Swedish Black Metal)

This is a band of a rare calibre. Misericordia knows how to play real black metal - the blistering kind, reminiscent of Marduk, Sammath and 1349, while tempering it with atmosphere and melodies of Dark Funeral and Dissection respectively. This is a very well-rounded release, one that leaves no stone unturned in expressing the art. From start to finish, this album is vicious, carrying an undercurrent of melodies, and is dynamic in its expression. Black metal albums aren't made like this these days. Too much is sacrificed for the sake of cult or commercial appeal. This one satisfies fully.

GODHUNTER & AMIGO THE DEVIL Present Collaborative 7-Inch EP For Black Friday; GODHUNTER's West Coast Tour With Sorxe Begins This Week

As Tucson's GODHUNTER takes their confrontational auditory demolition back out on the road this week for a twelve-city West Coast run with Sorxe, the band announces yet another new set of recordings destined to see release this Fall. After the release of their debut album, City Of Dust and the more recent GH/0ST:S split LP with Oakland's Secrets Of The Sky both released this year, GODHUNTER now announcesa collaborative EP with Miami-based AMIGO THE DEVIL. While all of GODHUNTER's 2014 releases have shown their generally crushing sludge/crust-influenced hardcore grooves giving way to more ethereal, organic rock influences, expanding the use of keys and acoustic instruments, the newly completed collaboration presents an incredible new sound completely. The charismatic murderfolk of AMIGO THE DEVIL, currently calling Miami, Florida home, features the soulful vocals and Americana-based anthems of one Danny Kiranos, who here unites with GODHUNTER, who provides virtually all instrumentation on these two incredibly accessible, somber and beautiful yet ominous tracks. The collaboration, The Outer Dark, includes one original tune, "Weeping Willow," paired with an awesome cover of Nirvana's "Something In The Way" on the B-side. As with City Of Dust and GH/0ST:S, The Outer Dark will see release through a union ofGODHUNTER-co-owned Battleground Records and Earsplit's label The Compound, who will release the album on 7" vinyl on Black Friday, November 28th. EYEDRESS releases new track "When I'm Gone (feat. GEoRGIA)

Today, Eyedress releases a brand new track "When I’m Gone (feat. GEoRGIA)". This release follows the critically acclaimed mixtape Hearing Colours and his debut EP Supernatural (released last year on Abeano) The track sees the Filipino producer lends his self proclaimed ‘spacey-assed beats’ to the airy vocals of hotly tipped singer and producer GEoRGIA.

Based in Quezon City, Manila, Eyedress is 24 year old Filipino producer, Idris Vicuña. He records music using Fruity Loops in his bedroom on a PC laptop handed down to him by his father. Since his emergence he has supported the likes of Jungle, Grimes and Mac DeMarco and earned plaudits from the likes of I-D, Fader and Dazed & Confused.

"Colin and I both felt that after two records utilizing hand drums exclusively, it was time to change it up and go with a live drum kit to augment Colin's rhythm programming. REVOCATION Post Third Video From The Making of "Deathless"

REVOCATION have spent the last eight years converting fans to their cause with four full length albums, an EP with Scion AV, and a charismatic live show led by guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson. The Boston-based band also features the staggeringly talented lineup of: Dan Gargiulo on guitar, Brett Bamberger on bass, and Phil Dubois on drums. REVOCATION has firmly been established as one of the genre's finest and will continue their campaign as part of the Metal Blade Records roster. Their fifth album, "Deathless," is a fitting debut for the label, and a definitive statement of intent from the band.  The artwork for "Deathless" was hand painted by internationally recognized tattoo artist Tom Strom.

"Deathless" was recorded with acclaimed producer Zeuss at Planet Z studios in Massachusetts. The album is ten tracks of ambitious, catchy, and undeniably heavy material. Musically, cuts like "Madness Opus" showcase a more deliberate REVOCATION - restrained, if even moderately so, to deliver a slow, near-dirge like track. Alternatively, the title track highlights the diversity of Davidson's vocals with a catchy chorus. It's an earworm the likes of which the band had only previously hinted. The rest of the album offers a refreshing variety of music and truly feels like an "album", rather than a collection of similar tracks. This is a refinement, achieved only through years of focusing on their craft. 

Revocation are touring in support of "Deathless" now with Crowbar in North America, followed by a full European tour with new label mates Cannibal Corpse and Aeon.  The tour stops tonight in Portland, OR and is set to run through October 10^th in Houston, TX.

Chicago post-metal/noise rock unit, ANATOMY OF HABIT, will unveil their Relapse debut, Ciphers + Axioms, next month.

Fronted by noise icon Mark Solotroff of Bloodyminded, ANATOMY OF HABIT boasts an all-star lineup 

featuring legendary drummer John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea And Cake, Gastr Del Sol etc.), guitarist Will Lindsay (Indian, Wolves In The Throne Room etc.), percussionist Theo Katsaounis (Joan Of Arc) and bassist Kenny Rasmussen (ex Radar Eyes). Recorded at Soma Studios with sound alchemist, Sanford Parker (Minsk, Twilight, Corrections House), on Ciphers + Axioms, Solotroff leads the band through two twenty-plus minute epic compositions made of tense, monolithic walls of guitar and percussion all accompanied by his chilling, baritone vocal poetics. A traumatic and terrifying tranced-out masterpiece, here ANATOMY OF HABIT takes their place amongst Swans and Neurosis as being one of the most unique and truly gifted post-metal heavy music acts of their generation.

ANATOMY OF HABIT was forged in Chicago in October 2008. Encompassing elements of doom metal, post punk, death rock, noise rock, and shoegaze, their boundry-free sound earned the band consistent praise from a wide swath of listeners, be they people who experience the band for the first time, diehard fans who attend almost every show, or fellow musicians with whom ANATOMY OF HABIT has shared stages. ALPHA TIGER Sign With SPV/Steamhammer

Hanover label Steamhammer/SPV has announced an exciting new addition to its roster: Alpha Tiger, the melodic metal act from Saxony, have signed a worldwide recording deal (excluding Japan) and are set to release their third album iDENTITY on Steamhammer on 19 January 2015 (Scandinavia: 14 January, Germany: 16 January 2015, USA end of January). The latest recording by the five-piece was cut under the direction of Mirco 'Godi' Hildmann (Guano Apes, among others) and Dominik Glöckner at Berlin's Music Flash Studio. The nine songs plus intro were produced by Alpha Tigerthemselves, before being mixed and mastered by Tommy Newton (UFO, Victory, Gamma Ray) at the Area 51 Studio in Celle. Guitarist Peter Langforth promises a haunting new recording for which Alpha Tiger clearly focussed on their own identity - as the album title hints: "Comparisons with Iron Maiden, Helloween and Queensrӱche, which we used to listen to occasionally, won't happen with iDENTITY. Our new material relies more on diverse grooves with a musically wider range without losing any of our edge." 

iDENTITY will be available in three formats: as a Digipak including DVD featuring recordings from Alpha Tiger's performance at the Bang Your Head festival in June 2013, as a jewel case and as a gatefold vinyl LP. Following the advance release of 'Lady Liberty' in early summer 2014, Alpha Tigerare set to shoot a video to support their new single 'We Won't Take It Anymore' in the next few weeks. The band are also planning a number of spectacular release shows to follow the album launch entitled 'Alpha Tiger & Friends', which are scheduled to feature a number of the group's pals.

Peter Langforth: "Having signed with Steamhammer, we now have a label on our side with the greatest expertise when it comes to this kind of metal. While we tended to feel a little out of place with previous imprints, we have now joined the right family in every respect." Olly Hahn, label boss atSteamhammer/SPV, looks forward to this collaboration: "In Alpha Tiger, we have signed one of Germany's most promising young melodic power metal bands, who have taken an unmistakable step forward with iDENTITY and who promise great things for the future."

Today multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Lorde unveiled her new single “Yellow Flicker Beat”, the lead song from the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The single is available now on iTunes and Spotify and will be on all digital retailers tomorrow.

The highly anticipated single offers an intriguing glimpse into what has become one of the most talked about soundtracks of 2014.
