The group Parenthetical Girls recorded a song entitled "Careful Who You Dance With," and several other people remixed said song. This is an EP of those remixes by other people. They are touring the West Coast soon with their pals Extra Life and Abe Vigoda.

Bio:

"Didn't Our Mother Love Us Enough?"
Ever the pragmatists, Parenthetical Girls are in the midst of releasing Privilege--the band's new full length--as a box set of five extremely limited 12" EPs on their own Slender Means Society label. These EPs will be sold separately in sequence every quarter over the next 15 months, each as they are completed. They will not be distributed to stores. As the cycle concludes, the fifth and final 12" will come packaged in a beautiful, aesthetically cohesive LP box designed to house all four of the preceding releases, forming the complete Privilege album. Limited to 500 physical copies per EP, the 12"s will each feature original art by renowned Swedish illustrator Jenny Mörtsell, and will be hand-numbered in the blood of their respective band members. The third 12"--subtitled Mend & Make Do--was released on March 22, 2011, and are numbered in the blood of cover star Jherek Bischoff.

Having taken pop extravagance to its logical conclusion with their critically acclaimed Orchestral Pop opus Entanglements, Parenthetical Girls have given the orchestra their leave--and the resulting transformation is no less momentous. Returning to its core membership of vocalist/creative director Zac Pennington, multi-instrumentalist Rachael Jensen, and producer/arranger Jherek Bischoff, the group set about a path that they have heretofore never really charted: that of sonic restraint. And though the results could scarcely be called subtle, the language of Privilege is direct and unambiguous--a new creative candor that's felt in both its words and music. It's Parenthetical Girls in fighting trim, and the difference is both immediate and undeniable.

The group continues this ambitious experiment with Privilege, pt III: Mend & Make Do --a bizarre and bombastic four-song suite of transgression, sexual politics, and bliss debasement. The EP opens upon lead single "The Pornographer," a leering Blues number (A BLUES NUMBER?!?!) of lust gone wrong, that recalls the unlikely bravado of light-loafered forbearers from the Bad Seeds to Depeche Mode. "For All The Final Girls" follows, a quietly frenzied chamber piece about the inescapable shadow of the past, and of the privileged evasion of personal responsibility.

"Careful Who You Dance With" is a cautionary tale of revelry awry, while "Mend & Make Do (Found Drama II)" continues the fragmented, kitchen-sink pathos begun on Privilege, pt. I. Together, they comprise a bold, strikingly cohesive pop clarion call that further solidifies Parenthetical Girls' place amongst the most surprising and uncompromising pop groups at work today. And there's more where that came from.

SELECTED ACCOLADES FOR PRIVILEGE

" a lilting pop sensation... synths, sex and inevitably defeat are inherent and On Death & Endearments captures a band hitting their stride. " --Drowned In Sound

"intricate melodies, bold instrumentals, and bizarre sounds, but this is what Parenthetical Girls does best."--The Music Slut

" Every second of this record sounds amazing."--Redefine Magazine

"Parenthetical Girls, this might be love."--Impose Magazine

"These four tracks drag you deep into Zac Pennington's lurid psyche, a world that manages to be as luxuriously seductive as it is strained and terrifying."--The Music Fix

railcars (aka Aria Jalali) just released his cover of Kate Bush's 1985 art-pop masterpiece "Hounds Of Love" via Cassette on Crash Symbols and limited edition vinyl via AMDiscs will follow next month in August. The California-based noise artist has made the entire thing available for free download through his bandcamp to whet your appetite until his first railcars full-length "Machine Glows Slowly" drops. Produced by Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu, Jalali promises the record will be by far his poppiest, catchiest venture yet. Jalali is also hard at work on his more esoteric Gypsy Treasures project on Not Not Fun recording the full-length "Wholesale Magic".

The project was made possible through a Kickstarter campaign last year and now finally has come to life. If you wouldlike to grab a copy now you can head over to Crash Symbol's bandcamp and find it there. The lazer etched vinyl is limited to 275 copies and will be available August 8th.

"drowning among a sea of meltedtape and LFO, it’s oneof the most convincingly aspirational renderings there’s ever been" -The FADER

"it’s a thing which is strange, and heartfelt, and weirdly beautiful in the way in which the original is" -Altered Zones

"It seems better to go for broke than keep close to the original, and Jalali is certainly triumphant in doing so. Managing to keep a glint of Kate's 80s alive while drowning the track under a thick wall of noise-rock, his is a version that bypasses the pop in favor of exploring the song's production elements, which as with Bush, Jalali did himself" -RCRD LBL

Mayday Parade Returns With Self-Titled Record October 4th * Tour Dates With All Time Low

MAYDAY PARADE RETURNS WITH HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED
SELF-TITLED ALBUM OCTOBER 4

SUMMER TOUR WITH ALL TIME LOW CONFIRMED

Mayday Parade is gearing up for the release of their third full-length album, the eponymous Mayday Parade, available October 4. In anticipation of the release, the band will embark on a North American tour with All Time Low at the end of July. See below for full details.

Co-produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, Mayday Parade marks a return to their songwriting roots; the entire album was self-written as a collaborative effort by the five band mates. The 12-song collection transpired through careful introspection and it echoes the musicians' maturation over the two years since their second album, Anywhere But Here. The band chose to pen each of the songs themselves, making the album perhaps their most personal to date, complete with relatable lyrics and their undeniable charm.

Recently, the band released a 6-song EP, Valdosta, containing four re-recorded acoustic versions of previous singles alongside two all new tracks. Two days after the release of Valdosta, Songkick recognized Mayday Parade as the hardest working band of 2010 with 194 logged tour dates and over 71,000 miles travelled. The rockers placed above seminal favorites such as Willie Nelson and pop culture phenomena like Lady Gaga.

Mayday Paradefirst burst onto the scene with their 2007 debut A Lesson in Romantics, which received immense praise from critics and fans alike. AbsolutePunk claimed it was sure to become "one of your most played [albums] of the summer." It went on to sell more than 170,000 copies and reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Mayday Parade is vocalist/piano Derek Sanders, bassist Jeremy Lezno, guitarists Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts and drummer/vocalist Jake Bundrick.

Mayday Parade:
1. Oh Well, Oh Well
2. No Heroes Allowed
3. When You See My Friends
4. You're Dead Wrong
5. Priceless
6. Stay
7. Call Me Hopeless, Not Romantic
8. A Shot Across the Bow
9. Everything's An Illusion
10. I'd Rather Make Mistakes Than Make Nothing At All
11. Without The Bitter The Sweet Isn't As Sweet
12. Happy Endings Are Stories That Haven't Ended Yet

July 7, 2011 - Los Angeles, CA - Bowling Green, KY's Sleeper Agent have announced more tour dates in support of Celabrasion, their mom+pop music debut album. The iTunes preorder for Celabrasion is now live at itunes.com/sleeperagent. Fans that preordered the album at various tour dates and directly from www.sleeperagentmusic.com will receive copies of the album beginning August 16th. Celabrasion will be available through all other digital retailers beginning September 6, 2011.

"Get It Daddy," the first single from their anticipated album peaked at Number 2 on the FMQB Specialty Radio Chart. It has also been added and is currently being played on radio stations across the country including Q101 (Chicago), WBRU (Providence), KNRK (Portland) and both New York based stations WFUV and WNYE. Esquire recently praised "Get It Daddy" as "two minutes that sound like the most original - and forceful - introduction to a new band we're likely to hear all year."

Describing their music as akin to "The Ronettes on speed," Sleeper Agent make hook-laden scuzzy garage-pop rooted in both soul and Southern rock - all fueled by drummer Justin "Keyser" Wilson's manic rhythms and the dueling harmonizing vocals of vocalist Alex "Kidd" Kandel and guitarist Tony "Tutone" Smith, who is also the band's songwriting force of nature. Citing such musical artists as Jay Reatard, The Strokes, Pixies, T-Rex, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin as influences, Sleeper Agent is also influenced by horror and sci-fi flicks, as well as stand-up comedians. "We just want people to listen to the music and have fun," says Smith. "It's pretty obvious that's what we want when you listen to the album." Produced by Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, The Whigs) and recorded last July at Nashville's Tragedy/Tragedy Studios, Celabrasion reflects the easy camaraderie in this band.

Influential music blog One Track Mind called the album "a garaged-out take on rock 'n' roll in all its many persuasions-T. Rex glam, southern fried rock, and Brit-pop all get equal looks-but the one constant throughout are those deliciously big hooks."

Sleeper Agent is Tony "Tutone" Smith (guitar/vocals), Alex "Kidd" Kandel (vocals), Justin "Keyser" Wilson (drums), Lee "Grizzlee" Williams (bass), Scott "Saga" Gardner (keyboard) and Josh "Junior" Martin (guitars).

Emily's Army Announce East Coast Dates In August

Emily's Army Announce East Coast Dates In August

July 7, 2011 - Los Angeles, CA - After a successful two-week West Coast tour, Emily's Army have announced four East Coast live dates in August in support of their full-length debut Don't Be A Dick, which was released by Adeline Records on June 14th. Alternative Press praised the album as "Overwhelmingly tight and poppy; quite impressive for the young pups they are. When considering that these songs were written by kids barely in high school, it's a bit of a jaw-dropper".

Hailing from the East Bay, Emily's Army is comprised of Max Becker on bass, Cole Becker on guitar, Travis Neumann on guitar, and drummer Joey Armstrong. At the ripe age of 15, 16, and 17 years old, the Oakland based band has already spent two years touring up and down the West Coast. The band's name comes from Max and Cole Becker's 15-year old cousin Emily, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 1998 and has suffered from the disease her entire life. In tribute, the band adopted the name Emily's Army, which also happens to be the moniker for a fundraising organization in their cousin's honor.

At a time when young bands are homogenized and tailor made for consumption and eventual regurgitation, Emily's Army is a breath of fresh air - rocking out together for the pure fact that they love playing music and they love playing together. Don't Be A Dick by Emily's Army is the sound of the torchbearers to come. Check out the video for "Broadcast This" on Rolling Stone.Com HERE.

Dates below:

8/11 - Cambridge, MA - T.T. The Bear's Place
8/13 - Baltimore, MD - Insubordination Fest @ The Ottobar
8/15 - Dover, NH - Slaughterhouse 5
8/16 - New Brunswick, NJ - The Loft

Milagres Announce Fall Tour Dates; New Album Glowing Mouth Out September 13 On Kill Rock Stars

Download: "Glowing Mouth" (via Kill Rock Stars)
Download: "Here To Stay" (via Village Voice)
Watch: "Lost In The Dark" (via Big Ugly Yellow Couch)

Kill Rock Stars will release Brooklyn-based Milagres second album Glowing Mouth on September 13. Milagres have just announced a fall tour with Peter Wolf Crier in support of the record.

New York was wearing on Kyle Wilson, lead singer & songwriter for the Brooklyn-based quintet Milagres. So he took off, away from the city and his band and his issues… all the way to the coldest, most remote part of British Columbia where he could get some space and breathe. As so often happens in life, he got a little more space than he bargained for – during a rock climbing trip he fell and ended up spending months bedridden with a back injury. Before he left New York, Wilson had thought he might leave the band behind entirely. But during the long days of his recovery he found himself writing songs again, and he realized he wanted to go back.

Upon his return to NYC, Wilson drafted Fraser McCulloch (bass, backing vocals, keys) into his new vision of Milagres, sharing with him the arrangements that he dreamt of while recovering from his injury. These demos were then refined with the addition of Eric Schwortz (guitar, backing vocals, percussion), Chris Brazee (piano/keys) and Steven Leventhal (drums, percussion), evolving into what would become the new group’s first LP, Glowing Mouth out September 13 on Kill Rock Stars.

The musical scope of the album is big and due to the piano-based melodies and soaring falsettos, early press has compared the band to artists as diverse as Grizzly Bear and Prince, demonstrating the wide breadth of Milagres material. The first single, "Glowing Mouth", is a slow-burner made for dancing close on a hot summer night, whereas "Here To Stay" has a keyboard hook that won’t let you sleep. Kyle Wilson has a knack for writing dreamy story songs that also pack a punch in both chorus and melody. Songs like "Gentle Beast" and "Gone" suck you in and then haunt you for days afterwards – this is an album that stays with you.

"The band's sound is something like a spiritual experience: lo-fi and heartfelt. With influences ranging from Prince to Peter Gabriel, the band could just as easily be compared to Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, or Bon Iver." - Interview Magazine

"'Glowing Mouth' is a studious song, carefully measured with piping organ notes, a heavy synth line, and ghostly, beautiful falsetto vocals singing a fluid, heart-melting melody." - Seattle Weekly

"KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley tells me he predicts big things for this band" - KCRW Music Blog

"...a big, beautiful, mesmerizing sound you’re going to want to hear more of." - My Old Kentucky Blog

Hell Or Highwater Announce New Band Name, Tour Dates and Upcoming Album Release (Brandon from Atreyu)

For more than 15 years, Brandon Saller has put his blood, sweat, and tears into the SoCal metalcore outfit, Atreyu. The seasoned drummer/vocalist has hammered out five studio LPs with four of his best friends, while traveling the globe and performing for legions of exuberant fans. Saller has lived the dream of every musician: to bring the rock 'n' roll to the hungry, fervent masses. And with Hell Or Highwater, formerly known as The Black Cloud Collective, Saller emerges from behind the drum kit, with the same unbridled passion, to ignite the next rock 'n' roll firestorm. The 5-piece band will self-release "Begin Again" on August, 9th, 2011. To support the release, the band will take the stage touring on the UPROAR Festival kicking off in August.

Hell Or Highwater has been brewing for a little over a year and a half, as Saller's songwriting drew inspiration from classic rock, doo-wop, punk and pop. Once armed with a solid collection of tunes, he unleashed his newfound vigor in a slew of gigs prior to the New Year, and it felt totally natural. When Atreyu announced their hiatus in January, Saller felt the timing was spot on to bring Hell Or Highwater to the forefront.

"The Black Cloud Collective was just a name. We felt that it didn't speak to, or represent the 5 of us. Hell or Highwater spoke to who we are as a band. Hell or Highwater is who we are," says Saller.

Hell Or Highwater lineup came together through word of mouth and via good old-fashioned tryouts. Each member had crossed paths throughout their respective careers, but once guitarist Matt Pauling (The Confession), guitarist Neal Tiemann (MWK, David Cook), bassist Joey Bradford (Thieves and Liars), and drummer Kyle Peek (MWK, David Cook) synced up with Saller, things just clicked.

"I was lucky enough to find, in my opinion, some of the greatest musicians I could have ever found," Saller says. "The music has energized all of us to the point where we're foaming at the mouth. This music makes me want to body slam someone and run a mile, while waving an American flag!"

In addition to the upcoming release of "Begin Again" and the UPROAR Festival Tour, Saller recorded a cover of "Night Life" with Billy Martin of Good Charlotte for the soundtrack of the upcoming Muppets Movie. The soundtrack also features industry heavyweights like OK GO, The Fray, Andrew Bird, Weezer, Hayley Williams, My Morning Jacket, Alkaline Trio and more. The soundtrack will be released August 23rd at Starbucks worldwide.
