Avenged Sevenfold will premiere the video for their current single "So Far Away" on Tuesday, May 10th on MTV, MTV2, MTVu, and MTV.com. Fans in the UK can see the video on MTV Rocks and at www.mtv.co.uk/avenged. The video is a raw and emotional tribute to the band's late drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and celebrates the long-time friendship the band members have shared since forming Avenged Sevenfold in Huntington Beach, CA, in 1999. The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who has directed videos for such artists as Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Megadeth, and Def Leppard, among many others.
The heartfelt quality of the video is in keeping with the emotional resonance of the song, a very personal goodbye to Sullivan that appears on the band's gold album Nightmare. "So Far Away" is currently climbing the Active Rock chart, following on the heels of the band's two previous No. 1 Active Rock singles, "Welcome to the Family" and "Nightmare," which was the most played song at the format (Mediabase) in 2010.
Avenged Sevenfold are currently out on the road for their "Welcome to the Family" Tour, which continues through May 21st. All upcoming tour dates are below. Generationals announces Summer tour dates

VIDEO - "Ten-Twenty-Ten"
Brutal is one way of putting it. The only way, really, considering the thermometer-cracking highs that faced Generationals during the month-long sessions for their second album, Actor-Caster.
"DC is very unforgiving in the summer. It just radiates heat," explains singer/multi- instrumentalist Ted Joyner. "So even though it was sunny outside, we sat in the basement most of the time."
That explains the melancholic/morose bent of the band's lyrics this time around, like how Grant Widmer-also a singer/multi-instrumentalist-refuses to pick up the phone in "Goose & Gander" or the way Joyner's lovelorn melodies linger well after the last dust-clearing note of "Dirty Mister Dirty." It's as if they're chasing every smile with a sneer, and at least one of them's brandishing a knife behind his back.
As for the duo's songwriting, it's still sunbaked in spots (the persistent piano lines of "Greenleaf," the galloping grooves of "Ten-Twenty-Ten" and "You Say It Too"), but nothing's stuck in the '60s. More like the here and now, combined with the warm, inviting vibe of classic pop cuts.
"It's important for us to record the old way-with analog equipment and tape machines,"explains Widmer, "But we also incorporate lots of electronic elements that wouldn't have been available to someone in the '60s. That combination is our sound."
And by electronic elements, he means everything from the shimmering synth lines and spare handclaps of "Yours Forever" to the lonesome keys and lacerated drum loops of "Black and White." None of which sounds all that strange when you consider the time machine tendencies of Generationals' widely acclaimed debut album, Con Law, a decade-spanning disc that features the same producer as Actor-Caster (Daniel Black) and sounds as familiar as a stack of slightly scuffed 45s (the heated horns and heaven-sent harmonies of "When They Fight They Fight," the snake-like bass lines and steam-pressed beats of "Bobby Beale").
Of course, it helps that Widmer and Joyner have been close friends since they were 13-a pair of freshmen trying to learn Beatles tracks on their first guitar. The New Orleans natives have shared apartments, jobs, schools and stages ever since, to the point where they practically finish each other's sentences.
"We know exactly what the other person is going for when an idea comes up. I think you can hear that in this album," says Widmer. "I played him the chords for 'Black and White' on guitar, and he knew exactly how to play them on piano and make them sound. So much so that it didn't even need a guitar after the piano was down; the guitar would have been redundant."

Morbid Angel Returns With First Album In 15 Years
MORBID ANGEL RETURNS WITH FIRST ALBUM IN FIFTEEN YEARS
FEATURING ORIGINAL TEAM OF TREY AZAGTHOTH AND DAVID VINCENT
ILLUD DIVINUM INSANUS TO BE RELEASED BY SEASON OF MIST JUNE 7, 2011
BAND ANNOUNCES OVERSEAS DATES WITH U.S. TOUR IN CONVERSATION
After a fifteen year hiatus from recording together, original Morbid Angel members Trey Azagthoth and David Vincent return with Illud Divinum Insanus on June 7. Drummer Pete Sandoval is recuperating from a back injury, with Tim Yeung now behind the kit. Over the past five years, Morbid Angel has been conquering stages across the world, and a return to the studio was inevitable. Vincent shares, “We’ve been told that this is one of the most anticipated recordings and we pulled out all the stops and pushed things to a new level. This is exciting!” The line-up is rounded out by the highly accomplished Norwegian guitarist Destructhor, who has been with the band for over five years, and performs on Illud Divinum Insanus alongside Azagthoth.
The track listing for the forthcoming album is: “Omni Potens,” “Too Extreme!,” “Existo Vulgore,” “Blades for Baal,” “I Am Morbid,” “10 More Dead,” “Destructos VS the Earth / Attack,” “Nevermore,” “Beauty Meets Beast,” “Radikult,” “Profundis – Mea Culpa.”
The career of Morbid Angel is simply iconic in status. The line-up has changed multiple times through the years, but with 2011 comes a return of the original duo of David Vincent (Vocals, Bass) and Trey Azagthoth (Guitars). Since the band’s formation in 1984, and their true rise through Altars of Madness (1989), the band unleashed a new level of extreme music on the Earth’s consciousness. Blessed Are The Sick (1991), considered by many to be a true musical masterpiece, Covenant (1993) the first major label release from a death metal band, and Domination (1995), display living proof that creativity does not have to meet conformity in order to achieve commercial success. The live album Entangled In Chaos (1996) followed, as did the departure of vocalist / bassist Vincent. An Azagthoth-led Morbid Angel recorded three great albums in Vincent’s absence - Formulas Fatal to the Flesh (1997), Gateways to Annihilation (2000), and Heretic (2003) continued to feed the fan base and cement the band's notoriety in the pantheon of Metal." Over the past five years, an Azagthoth / Vincent led Morbid Angel has been performing in South America and Europe, reclaiming a place high atop the pedestal of extreme music.
Morbid Angel has plans to tour the globe in 2011. An excursion across The United States is in discussion, and the following appearances overseas have been confirmed:
May 25 Singapore (SG) Tba
May 27 Melbourne (AU) The Hifi
May 28 Sydney (AU) The Manning Bar
June 09 Sölvesborg (SE) Sweden Rock Festival
June 11 Enschede ( NL) Atak
June 12 Tilburg (NL) 013
June 17 Clisson (FR) Hellfest
June 18 København (DK) Copenhell

Thieves Like Us shares new single and video, signs to Captured Tracks

VIDEO: "Your Love Runs Still"
MP3: "Your Love Runs Still"
Thieves Like Us are two Swedes (Bjorn Berglund and Pontus Berghe) and one American (Andy Grier) drifting around the planet. After moving to Paris in 2008 to record last year's LP Again and Again, French authorities refused a VISA to vocalist Grier and he was forced to relocate from Paris to Berlin. The band continued to meet for touring throughout Europe in 2009 and 2010.
The Your Love Runs Still EP is the first sample of new material which includes the expanded line-up of Frenchman Laurence Wasser on bass and American Martine Duverglas on co-vocals. The band will be playing shows in South America and Mexico this summer before reconvening in Lisbon to record their first full length LP for Brooklyn label Captured Tracks.

NACHTMYSTIUM Confirm Live Invasions, Von Collaborations, Lineup & Recording Info
Bastard sons of black metal, NACHTMYSTIUM, have announced a string of random live attacks for the coming months, while they also devise the execution of their sixth full-length release.
The latest plague of concerts begins with a hometown headlining gig, with support from Lord Mantis (containing two members of NACHTMYSTIUM), this Friday, May 6th in Chicago. Next up, NACHTMYSTIUM will be co-headlining 2011's installment of the annual Alehorn of Power Festival in Chicago June 11th, where they'll perform directly before headlining stoner gods Orange Goblin, and will also be joined by Bible of the Devil, Zuul, Solace and Buried At Sea. July will see NACHTMYSTIUM terrorizing the Central Illinois Metalfest, where they're confirmed as direct support for Macabre. In August, they've been invited to perform at the Party.San Open Air Festival in Schlotheim, Germany, as part of an incredible fest roster including Morbid Angel, At The Gates, Absu, Tryptikon, Enslaved, Negura Bunget and more. The band have constructed a longer set than usual for many of these headlining and festival appearances, mostly comprised of tracks they've not performed live before.
NACHTMYSTIUM's Confirmed Spring/Summer Live Invasions:
5/06/2011 Cobra Lounge - Chicago, IL w/ Lord Mantis, Defcon
6/11/2011 Alehorn Of Power Festival - Chicago, IL
7/23/2011 Central Illinois Metalfest - Urbana, IL
8/12/2011 Flugplatz Obermehler - Schlotheim, Germany @ Party San Festival
Since returning from their extensive North American tour as direct support for Cradle of Filth in March, NACHTMYSTIUM have been devising their next studio effort. The current band lineup consist of a majority of the recent touring lineup, including Andrew Markuszewski (Avichi, Lord Mantis), Charlie Fell (Lord Mantis, Avichi), and Sanford Parker (Minsk, Circle Of Animals, etc.), and founding guitarist/vocalist, Blake Judd. As of now, little more about the album is being released, but according to Judd this week: "The new record will have a very strong industrial influence in the vein of later-era Ministry, Revolting Cocks and Nine Inch Nails, but also a strong, depressive, old-school black metal influence." More details, including a full-time bassist and more on the upcoming album, will be announced shortly.
In the meantime, Judd and NACHTMYSTIUM have confirmed several collaborations with infamous USBM horde Von! Two separate projects are currently underway which involve members of both bands. First up, Judd has been confirmed as one of a dozen notable artists set to collaborate with Von bassist Venien, on a project entitled Von Venien. The unit will release a 12" single entitled "Empire" via Von's own label Von Music Group. Following that, VMG will also unleash a split between Von and NACHTMYSTIUM via 12" MLP and CD, which will include both a new track as well as some Von homage from NACHTMYSTIUM. Full details on releases will be unveiled shortly.
Further details on all ongoing endeavors of NACHTMYSTIUM will be unveiled over the coming weeks. For now check out the band's song "Nightfall," recently made available as part of the Rock Band Network.

Doug Marvin and Annie Hart are kind of like indie rock royalty: Doug is the drummer and vocalist of NYC indie poppers Dirty on Purpose, and Annie is the front woman for synth-pop lady troupe Au Revoir Simone. Together, they create melodic pop ballads with Pursesnatchers, Doug's ambitious home recording project. - RCRD LBL
Pursesnatchers began as a home-recording project of Doug Marvin, formerly of Dirty on Purpose, with help from his wife Annie Hart, of Au Revoir Simone. The songs are upbeat and poppy, with lots of analog fuzz left in for realness' sake. Think Yo la Tengo doing America covers. The band eventually expanded to include old friends Jared Barron and Harold Liu, and the quartet began playing out and around Brooklyn. Pursesnatchers went into the studio during the summer of 2010 to record their first album as a full band, A Pattern Language, to be released through the Uninhabitable Mansion art collective.

Times New Viking premieres music video at IFC.com, extends tour

Times New Viking's new video for "Ever Falling in Love" premiered today on IFC.com
Adam from Times New Viking talked with IFC's Grayson Currin about their new album Dancer Equired and the video concept. Read the full interview here.
"How does the video concept work with that song conceit?"
"It works good, because there are two characters in it. And in the song, Beth is singing, and I'm singing. I sing the boy character, and she sings the girl character. My lyrics and voice are the actual story, and then her lyrics are kind of what the girl is thinking. We knew we needed a video for that song, and we knew that, after our last video, we wanted to step it up even more and try to do the stop-motion idea. We tried to make a little French New Wave stop-motion. Breathless was kind of an inspiration for the video."
Bio:
Contrary to popular belief, the members of Times New Viking are not art school dropouts; they're art school graduates. And rather than follow the path of stuffy galleries and regular unemployment, they chose to start a band. Times New Viking, consisting of Beth Murphy on keyboards/vocals, Adam Elliott on drums/vocals, and Jared Phillips on guitar, began inconspicuously in 2003 when it was particularly out of vogue to do it yourself. From their first noise-crusted basement tapes that coaxed Siltbreeze Records founder Tom Lax from retirement to indie-elite Matador Records, Times New Viking's star rose while they still sounded like the
best Messthetics one-off you always wanted to keep to yourself.
Dancer Equired, the band's first album for Merge, is a return to the hive, even if the record's creation was out of their usual boundaries. It should be known that for the first time, the trio escaped to a studio, namely Columbus Discount Recording and the famed Musicol, during the summer of violence. With the help of Adam Smith and Dustin White, Times New Viking recorded and produced an album sounds like a mellow night out. Though it abandons the pissy histrionics of the past, the record retains the loud, brash, mammoth guitars but also magnifies the bright, beautiful traits the band has nurtured since the beginning. Dancer Equired is a new chapter, sure to attract an entirely new audience of intrigued listeners while keeping old Times New Viking fans perfectly satiated by not abandoning those early ideals. Rip it up and start again.

SHRAPHEAD TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM "BLIND & SEDUCED" JUNE 28TH ON METALVILLE RECORDS

SHRAPHEAD started up in August of 2004 in Eidskog, Norway. The band was put together by two local musicians, Mohamed Dyani and William Fossheim, who were interested in jamming and making music. Later that year singer Jo Johnsrud and guitarist Robert Olsen joined the band. They would soon be introduced to the Norwegian live scene and played many gigs across Norway. They also recorded their "Ageless" EP and other various demos at this time. In 2006 SHRAPHEAD embarked on a small Norwegian tour with another band called Cortez. The response was great, so they decided that this was something they wanted to fully commit to. Shortly thereafter a small underground fan base emerged and it pushed the members to continue to work hard with their own style of melodic, modern thrash-inspired metal.
In 2007 they had a small line-up change and they parted ways with Robert and welcomed guitarist Petter Murud. It was around this period the music really started to evolve and get stronger. Improved musicianship and heartfelt dedication could easily be heard in their self titled demo recorded in 2007. The feedback from metal magazines, webzines and radio stations was amazing! They were also named demo of the month in the May edition of Metal Hammer Germany. The magazine named them "Helden von morgen (Heroes of tomorrow)".
Another line-up change soon followed. Petter quit and in came Nils-Christer Stenmyren. In 2009, the band began writing all the songs for their debut album. It took a long time, but instead of rushing creativity, perfection was an essential factor.
2011 brings about the release of SHRAPHEAD's debut album "Blind & Seduced". It was recorded in Hamar with Christian Liljan and Fredrik Ryberg and mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand in Uppsala. The inspiration for the title comes from society, about how you as a child are exposed to such an indoctrination of false information about life and death. The album has 13 tracks, including a ballad and an instrumental. With "Blind & Seduced" SHRAPHEAD are ready to make their mark on today's metal scene.
