FLIPPER - LIVE TARGET VIDEO 1980-81
From the archives of SF's famous Target Video comes this monster release from the classic original early 80s line up of Flipper. Capturing extreme and scorching performances from 1980 and 1981, this DVD helps form a picture of the band that slowed down punk rock and made the kids suffer in the "louder faster" days of hardcore. An intense blend of noise, punk and drone music coupled with an in your face attitude and performance style made Flipper one of most "out there " bands of the early 80s scene. This DVD features stellar performances from Berkeley and the Kezar and is (mostly) unreleased and incredible snapshot into the other side of "American Hardcore."

Foo Fighters have added two more dates to their upcoming early '08 arena tour in support of their sixth studio album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The two new dates, March 3 at San Diego's Cox Arena and March 5 at the Forum in Los Angeles, along with previously announced dates February 1 at the Reno Events Center and February 2 at Oakland's Oracle Arena will go on sale this Saturday at www.ticketmaster.com

Following up on the recent announcement of their New Years Eve headline extravaganza at the Bill Graham Civic in San Francisco, The Mars Volta have confirmed their first dates of 2008, beginning Jan. 9 in Burlington VT and running up to just before the Jan. 29 release date of their new The Bedlam In Goliath.
Like previous Mars Volta efforts De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute, The Bedlam In Goliath is a thematically linked whole, the songs chapters in a bigger story, inspired by real people, places and events. The Bedlam In Goliath chronicles The Mars Volta's time with the "Soothsayer" a/k/a the Ouija board owned by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and its mutation from a source of amusement during the tour supporting the band's Amputechture album into a malevolent psycho-spiritual force that nearly tore the group apart, collectively and individually.
The Mars Volta was formed by guitarist/producer/arranger Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and lyricist/vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and issued its first recorded work, the Tremulant EP in 2002. The band has since released three full-length albums, De-Loused In The Comatorium (2003), Frances The Mute (2005)--both of which have been certified gold--and Amputechture (2006). The Bedlam In Goliath will be The Mars Volta's fourth studio album. Like Frances The Mute and Amputechture, it was produced by the band's own Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

And most often, especially when performed live, these moments of powerful and sometimes flamboyant epics, melt minds and faces for decades, and even centuries, to come.
Enter, Foxy Shazam.
Taking their queue from contemporaries like At the Drive-In, Gogol Bordello, Man Man, and others in the modern piano-driven punk era, FOXY SHAZAM construct a formula of chaotic and disjointed, convulsive punk rock, complete w/ apocalyptic lyrics and doom-ridden instrumentation, seemingly rising and intoxicating like vapors from a cryptic, acid-laden party in hell. Imagine the soundtrack to a bad trip featuring demon-gnomes encircling and bouncing about, eyes bulging like that creature on the plane in Stephen King's Twilight Zone. Freaky shit!
But Foxy Shazam just want to have fun. Their current US tour w/ label-mates Heavy Heavy Low Low and guests Tera Melos, sees the band touring the length of the country, calling to action the kids who want to disrupt normal routine and lash out against daily false-reality. Stage dive, start a pit, and don't worry about making sense. We're just here to party.
The self-proclaimed “Evel Knievel of Rock N Roll,” Foxy Shazam is here to make a musical death defying stunt with their New Weathermen debut Introducing, to be released in January of 2008. The album, recorded with producer Casey Bates (Chiodos, Heavy Heavy Low Low) takes their piano propelled songs that layer spastic hardcore noise atop fractured Soul inspired pop to a new level, one that emphasizes - well - good times, tells vocalist Eric Nally. “The whole point of the album is to be a feel-good dance party. We stepped up our game while throwing our whole selves and personality quirks in it, making the album very centered and focused on our development.” The songs are varied, and there are a few head scratchers thrown in the mix, tells Nally. “One song, Dangerous Man, is meant for the soundtrack of a Robin Hood film. Another song, Red Cape Diver, is about a bull fighter who is telling his family that he loves them before he goes off to work. But most of the songs are just about having a good time.” The first single off of their record, and one of the biggest party-starters, Yes Yes Yes! is making its debut on Myspace this month.
Foxy Shazam has been taking their party mobile since their formation in 2004. The quintet from Cincinnati, OH, which consists of Nally, Loren Turner (guitar), Daisy (bass), Sky White (piano), and Joe Halberstadt (drums) are currently out on tour with Heavy Heavy Low Low and Tera Melos, and have booked their own tours in the past with Tub Ring, Look What I Did, and others. Speaking on their direction, Turner admits “we decided early on not to hold back on any kind of sound as long as it sounds good, we will use it.” The result is a divergent sound that doesn’t fit comfortably in any one genre but reaches across many. “We’ve always gone over well with our live shows whether playing to a bar full of old guys or a VFW hall full of hardcore kids we also draw a positive reaction.” Through this intense live show experience, the band has drawn a fanbase in many national markets. While their shows tend to get a little wild, for example the band playing to reckless abandon including White playing the piano with a severed deer hoof and Nally putting out a lit cigarette on his cheek, the emphasis is on the visible, soulful nature of the music. “We tend to be really theatrical because we are so passionate about the music. It really moves us, and we don’t need props to show it.”
The band released their debut album The Flamingo Trigger (2005), and then went on to tour exhaustively, performing over two hundred shows within a span of eighteen months. The word of mouth about the band began to spread catching the attention of many, including The Number Twelve Looks Like You's front man and band manager, Jesse Korman. Foxy Shazam was then quickly introduced by Jesse to Nick Storch of New Weathermen Records. Storch recalls "He (Korman) told me I had to check them out and at first I had no idea what was going on in their music and put it aside. A few weeks later I put their demos back in with a fresh mind and it clicked right away, these guys are chaotic but there's also a real pop sensibility that doesn't usually occur with bands this far out." Foxy Shazam is the second artist to be signed to the label in partnership with Ferret Music. "Yes, as far as Skinny Puppy #3 goes, I have started work on that in addition to our work with Scaremeister. I spent about 2 months changing up my studio and incorporating plans for the new SP recordings. For me that means taking the typical gear away and putting different gear there to see what happens. Thanks to Moog for stepping in and some killer new custom CYLON designs by Russell Nash. Incorporating these with the old school modulars and machines has been quite exciting. We also have a team happening with Otto Von Schirach and K Hiwatt Marshall and friends that is exciting to say the least."

SEVEN MARY THREE SIGNS TO BELLUM/ICON
DAY&NIGHTDRIVING in stores Feb 19
First single “Last Kiss” Impacts Rock Radio Feb. 4
(NEW YORK, NY) December 5, 2007 — Seven Mary Three has signed to Bellum Records (a division of ICON MES), and on February 19, 2008 will release their sixth album DAY&NIGHTDRIVING. The first single, “Last Kiss,” impacts Rock radio formats on February 4th, along with a music video to be serviced to all local, regional, and national broadcast outlets as well as online and retail. The band will host a record release show in their hometown of Orlando, FL, on Feb. 22-23, with fans from all over the world expected to attend.
Seven Mary Three are most widely known for their platinum debut American Standard featuring the #1 Rock radio hit “Cumbersome,” which still receives more than 500 spins per week. Each of Seven Mary Three’s four albums after American Standard produced Top 20 Rock radio singles, including “Water’s Edge,” “Lucky,” “Over Your Shoulder” and “Wait.” The group has toured with the likes of Aerosmith, Matchbox Twenty and Three Doors Down, creating a strong fan base that has loyally supported them through the record company travails that saw them move from their original independent label home of Mammoth to Atlantic Records, settling now again with an independent, Bellum Records.
Unlike past releases, DAY&NIGHTDRIVING was recorded over the course of a year without label pressures or expectations. “The album started with me and my guitar,” explains the bands’ singer and primary songwriter Jason Ross, who demo-ed most of the songs in his home studio in Chapel Hill, NC, where he lives with his wife and children.
Co-produced by Brian Paulson (Wilco, Son Volt, Beck) and the band’s Ross and guitarist Thomas Juliano, DAY&NIGHTDRIVING reflects a return to Seven Mary Three’s pared down origins, having recorded their first album in a basement while attending the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. The album is a highly personal, reflective, yet raw and uncompromisingly honest work about reconciling a career in a rock group with home life and balancing commitments to bandmates and those of family.
“I feel liberated,” admits Ross. “I couldn’t have written these songs when I was 24. I thought I could, but I really couldn’t, having not gone through these experiences myself. I feel like I’m just beginning as a songwriter.”

Shiny Toy Guns
The Shiny Toy Guns represent a movement in modern rock, fusing elements of dance/pop/rock/emo into a new emerging sound classified as electro. They have been touring now for 3 years. In Jeremy Dawson own words, "I want fans to use music as an application to drive their lives. It excites me when I see people moving music into their lives, and using a song as an example of who they are." Despite critics who attribute the bands success to my space, their hard work in touring and releasing is where their fame really comes from. The band does admit to receiving a break from legendary KROQ radio, giving them radio exposure that was something they never had before. The band loves events where, "people are decked out, and there is a unity; followed by the sense of a show being an underground scene thing". Jeremy also points to the lack of all ages music shows being a huge hurtle to the bands success. Music critics and bands have been citing a lack of all ages venues, as the number one barrier to making it big. He band also points to legendary parties such as Motherfucker in New York, the San Francisco music scene, and party performers such as Wild Child, Tommie Sunshine, and Ladytron as assisting in the upward spiral of music. The bands current playlist of music they listen to includes Mumm-Ra, Silverchair, Kate Nash, English, and Shit Disco.The band is currently debating on recording an album, or touring in Europe where the latest album is just getting released. As modern rock bands are finding they having to diversify not only in their touring patterns but in what they produce, the next single which dropped October 23rd, is a pop single (Ah the return of the rock ballad, Journey eat your heart out!). This band definitely has the vibe of seasoned veterans; they believe themselves very fortunate to be doing what they love.
