Native Instruments has just released TRAKTOR SCRATCH 1.1, a free update for its new high-performance digital DJ system. The update includes additional functionality and a wide range of further refinements to various areas of the software, resulting in increased creative potential and optimized handling of the system.
The versatile performance effects section in TRAKTOR SCRATCH now provides both insert and send modes, while the filter selection includes an additional model with several filter modes. Managing music collections is more efficient due to an optimized track database with increased performance and new playlist features. TRAKTOR SCRATCH 1.1 also brings several new and exclusive Beatport features, support for the upcoming 7" control records, a software-based input throughput function, and a wide range of performance optimizations and fixes.
The 1.1 update for Windows and Mac OS X is now available as a free download for all TRAKTOR SCRATCH users on the NI website.

Ministry & Co-Conspirators to Release Cover Up
"Always judge a band by its covers." -- Al Jourgensen
Al Jourgensen's band Ministry may be releasing their final studio album - The Last Sucker - on September 18th on 13th Planet/Megaforce Records, but that doesn't mean Jourgensen is saying good-bye to the inside of a recording studio. As a matter of fact, Jourgensen plans to spend significantly more time in the studio doing what he loves best - collaborating. And collaboration is at the root of Cover Up, a soon-to-be-released album of some of Al's personal favorite songs being recorded by Ministry & Co-Conspirators in his El Paso, TX compound, 13th Planet Studios. Ministry and Co-Conspirators' Cover Up is expected to street in April 2008.
In addition to core Ministry members guitarist Sin Quirin (Revolting Cocks) and bassist Paul Raven (Killing Joke/Prong/Mob Research) Jourgensen enlisted an impressive group of co-conspirators for Cover Up - Fear Factory front man Burton C. Bell (also Ascension of The Watchers) sings on the Rolling Stones' "Under My Thumb," Tony Campos (bass) and Wayne Static (vocals) from Static X are on the Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," and Prong's Tommy Victor (vocals) and Mountain's Leslie West (guitar) do justice to Mountain's classic "Mississippi Queen." Cover Up will also include Ministry's cover of the Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" (which can also be found on The Last Sucker), as well as Ram Jam's "Black Betty," Deep Purple's "Space Truckin," Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World" and "Radar Love" by Golden Earring. Additional featured artists, including Cheap Trick's Robin Zander (vocals) and Rick Nielson (guitar), and trax are in the works.
"It's a work in progress," states Jourgensen, "based on who's on tour and comin' through town. It keeps everything spontaneous. By now, everyone knows if they're droppin' by the studio, I'm gonna put them to work. I've got a few more surprises up my sleeve for this one.

Slayer's Unholy Alliance Tour DVD
Hailed as "the heaviest, darkest metal tour of the summer, if not the year," the Unholy Alliance Tour: Preaching to the Perverted, stomped and screamed around the globe last year. On October 30, just in time for Halloween, the Unholy Alliance Tour DVD package will be released (American Recordings) and will feature the tour's line-up - headliner Slayer, the undisputed kings of speed metal/thrash, and the "future of heavy metal contenders" - Lamb of God, Mastodon, Children of Bodom and Thine Eyes Bleed. The DVD will have an approximate running time of 90-minutes.
The Unholy Alliance Tour DVD/CD was shot at Vancouver's General Motors Place on July 13, 2006, was directed by Adam Rothlein (Speedway Films), and boasts performance footage plus bonus material to include backstage, behind-the-scenes and one-on-one interviews, many of which were conducted by the Unholy Alliance artists themselves.

Eve Miller and Russell Higbee join the folds of nylon-string guitar, harp, keyboard, horns, strings, and drums, with Lou Rogai, the voice and vision, with arms of friends draped in the name Lewis & Clarke.
Rogai is a pastoralist, a rat-race expatriate, an old-soul musician who chose to live more deliberately with his family under the eaves of mountain trees in Pennsylvania's Delaware Water Gap. It is a community distant to the big city's pace, but close enough for gigs and recording sessions with his city-folk colleagues. Among them are Russell Higbee (harp, keys) of Man Man and Eve Miller of Rachel's (cello) who, too, embrace the exploration of sinewy eastern melody and unaffected compassion called Lewis & Clarke.

Every Time I Die Takes Over The Airwaves and The World Wide Web

The LP was produced by the Dragons’ themselves & David Andrew Sitek (TV On The Radio) over the past year. Their recent Spring live shows have been creating such a stir in the NYC community that they have recently played David Bowie’s Highline Festival, the prestigious Summer Stage with Television & Apples in Stereo, and a very special event at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) 7 - Day Afro Punk Festival... And now, we present the coolest debut with the hottest futuristic/eclectic sounds heard anywhere.
Coronation Thieves begins with the absinthe-tinge of “War Lover”, which just might shear through your brain like a memory safely on its way back into clear view. The depth of DOZ’s ambitious sound stems from a precocious understanding of legendary artists before their time. The record features stunning crescendos in songs such as the dreamy yet powerful, “Get Off”, and the psychedelic rockers “Anna Mae” and “Rockin’ Star”. Both will curl your toes in all directions. Hailing from rock hall capital Cleveland, OH, the band fronted by Bronx born twins, Aku and Akwetey O.T. draw influence
from like-minded visionaries. Having trained classically since the age of 5, Aku and his twin grew up with a deep love of
Hendrixian watershed psych, Zeppelin's proto-blues-stomp, and the lyrical streets-weeping of techo-bots Outkast.
Later studying music theory and performance with legendary Jazz saxophonist/flutist Yusef Lateef, the twins enacted
Lateef's "auto-physio-psychic" approach to music crafting new pathways in modern music that outpaces their short
year-and-a-half in existence. Rounded out by drummer extraordinaire, J. Bizza, and bold bassist, Autry Fulbright (who
also fronts NYC band, Shock Cinema)
Let's cast back to NYC 2003 and we clearly see the incarnation blooming. While Akwetey held down a job as a script
supervisor for 'Galaxy' guiding actor Mos Def, brother Aku worked down the street putting in time at the soundbomber’s
former imprint, Rawkus Records.
As synchronicity would have it the bros teamed up to help promote Mos in his debut show at the Blue-Note Jazz Club, an integral turning point in their musical direction. "Mos was in a Miles Davis-smooth-in-a-punk band type spirit, it was all new." The O.T.s soon dove into a maelstrom of Electro-Soul orchestration, Afrobeat, and Punk Rock stirring a new future symphony that has been referred as Afrotek.
TV on the Radio have now become the Dragons biggest supporters. Following their debut in 2005 opening for TV on The Radio, DOZ's brilliant performances have bolstered a truly majestic sound that now has avant-rock fans coming out of the woodwork. Already gaining praise from notables such as The New York Times, Spin Magazine, and Filter, the Dragons are ready to hit the world at high speeds with their brand of 21st century electro-mystic-soul.
Dragons of Zynth recently completed sessions with TVOTR and the legendary Massive Attack and are currently seeking release what might be on of the most psychotropically astonishing debut records in recent memory.

Brooklyn's Team Robespierre rock the super fun synth-punk, with an emphasis on the punk. Their raw, electric sound reminds me of (broken-up) bands like Q and Not U, El Guapo, and Fugazi (if Fugazi had keyboard players, that is). These five guys are the perfect band to ask to play when you want to turn your broken-down loft or vacant parking lot into an instant party space. Just have them plug in their guitar, bass and keys and watch them go for it. Fun noise will be made, with all members dishing out vocal jabs. Team Robespierre utilizes a whole mess of both machine and man-made beats, and you can certainly dance to their thumps. Just don't confuse this with dance-punk. This is more like punk-dance. They may have destroyed their tour van in the California desert, but Team Robespierre built their dance-core up all over the country and the people came. Back in the safe confines of Brooklyn, Team Robespierre have set to work on releasing their debut album. Having spent most of their summer recording Don't Tell The Scene with the help of Colin Marston (Orthrelm, Ghengis Tron, Stay Fucked), they have enlisted Kayrock and Wolfy at Kayrock Screen Printing (Ex Models, Oneida, Liars, Matt Pond) to handle the artwork and will also be working with Allen Cordell (Dan Dacon’s “Big Big” video) to produce a video for the single ”88th Precinct”
Dirty punk powered by raw synth hooks and battered dance machine beats, Team Robespierre are ringleaders of Brooklyn's DIY dance party scene, one that stands as a model for the mayhem brewing in basements and warehouses across America. Though they formed in Brooklyn during the winter of 2005, the members of Team Robespierre grew up in similar punk rock scenes in New York, Denver, Minnesota, Texas, Poland and Jersey, playing in bands like Thulsa Doom, Morning Glory and Hipster Bloodbath. But as Rex, Tom, Ty, Mike and Jim got older, their record collections expanded into noise, indie, electro and new wave. And while all (and none) of these genres might influence their sound, what comes across most when seeing these guys is their raw energy and unwillingness to separate themselves from the crowd.
The Team mashes 80s new wave and 90s hardcore into a dance-ready hybrid that comfortably shares stages with bands as diverse as Dan Deacon, Japanther, An Albatross, Leftover Crack, Parts And Labor, Best Fwends, USA Is A Monster and Kylesa. Having already embarked on three tours in 2007 and recently enlisting a drummer for their complex electro-punk arrangements, the Team felt the timing was right to record an album's worth of material.

Brooklyn's Team Robespierre rock the super fun synth-punk, with an emphasis on the punk. Their raw, electric sound reminds me of (broken-up) bands like Q and Not U, El Guapo, and Fugazi (if Fugazi had keyboard players, that is). These five guys are the perfect band to ask to play when you want to turn your broken-down loft or vacant parking lot into an instant party space. Just have them plug in their guitar, bass and keys and watch them go for it. Fun noise will be made, with all members dishing out vocal jabs. Team Robespierre utilizes a whole mess of both machine and man-made beats, and you can certainly dance to their thumps. Just don't confuse this with dance-punk. This is more like punk-dance. Back in the safe confines of Brooklyn, Team Robespierre have set to work on releasing their debut album. Having spent most of their summer recording Don't Tell The Scene with the help of Colin Marston (Orthrelm, Ghengis Tron, Stay Fucked), they have enlisted Kayrock and Wolfy at Kayrock Screen Printing (Ex Models, Oneida, Liars, Matt Pond) to handle the artwork and will also be working with Allen Cordell (Dan Dacon’s “Big Big” video) to produce a video for the single ”88th Precinct”

New Release from Jimi Hendrix Experience "Live At Monterey" On Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe
Forty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time. It was the galvanizing, US debut performance of The Jimi Hendrix Experience at The Monterey International Pop Festival that propelled Hendrix and his band mates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to the top ranks of international rock royalty. On October 16, for the first time ever, The Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey will be released by Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe on DVD. It's a remarkable visual and aural document that reconfirms what the Monterey audience bore witness to on June 18, 1967: Hendrix's unbridled talent and flair for showmanship are unparalleled in the annals of music.
The set of songs that the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed at Monterey was introduced by Brian Jones, the Rolling Stones' guitarist whose presence at the festival amounted to a kind of benediction by an acknowledged rock god. He knew full well who he was introducing as Hendrix had moved to London fewer than nine months earlier and achieved icon status in the U.K. in very short order. His conquest of his native land, though, would be achieved almost instantaneously at Monterey.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers all existing film footage of that epochal performance presented in its original sequence. The original 16mm camera reversal footage shot by D.A. Pennebaker's Monterey Pop film crew has been transferred to high-definition specs and is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The DVD soundtrack features new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, the engineer so closely associated with the Jimi Hendrix and his legacy, from the original eight-track live recordings made at the concert by remote engineer Wally Heider.
Beyond the performance of the band's set, The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers numerous bonus features. A Second Look, a unique interactive feature allows the viewer to switch between multiple, previously unseen camera angles to view several of the performances as never before. In addition, American Landing, a new documentary that includes previously unreleased interviews with Mitchell and Redding - and Jimi Hendrix, himself -- is included. There's also Music, Love and Flowers, an inside look at the Monterey International Pop Festival with co-founder Lou Adler. Live performances of "Stone Free" and "Like A Rolling Stone, the two earliest known unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience performances, shot February 25, 1967 at Chelmsford, England are also part of the package.
Voluminous liner notes by Mitch Mitchell and Hendrix scholar and Experience Hendrix's catalog development director John McDermott, as well as numerous rare and previously unpublished photos of Hendrix, the band and memorabilia of the time are also part of the lavish package that is The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey.
Two companion audio releases, on CD and vinyl, under the same title will also be available on October 16th by Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe. All three were produced by Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix and McDermott, the DVD was directed by Bob Smeaton. Authored by Janie Hendrix and John McDermott, the oversized book features reproductions of drawings from Jimi's childhood, rare handwritten song lyrics, and never-before-seen archival photographs. In addition to 30 interactive features, the book includes a 70-minute audio CD with interviews and commercially unreleased recordings of live concert music and a Record Plant jam session.

Norma Jean On Tour With Saosin
UPCOMING FESTIVALS AND MEXICO TOUR!!!
Fresh off of a successful run on Warped Tour, Georgia’s Norma Jean are preparing for an upcoming US tour with Saosin, Alexisonfire, and others! The tour kicks off in Seattle, WA on September 28 and finishes in New York on November 7 in New York City.
Before they head out with Saosin, Norma Jean will be playing Ohio’s Collide Festival on August 24, the Revelation Generation Festival in New Jersey on September 1, and the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle on September 3. These festival dates will lead up to a week-long tour of Mexico, before Norma Jean returns home to gear up for the Saosin tour.
Norma Jean will also be playing the Saints and Sinners Festival at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ on November 4. The festival also features such heavy hitters as Glassjaw, August Burns Red, Between The Buried and Me, Walls of Jericho and many more!!
Norma Jean are touring to support their most recent release, 2006’s Redeemer (Solid State Records), and they are planning to return home after the US tour to write and record a brand-new record, tentatively due in Summer 2008.
