The Band will Perform at Bowery Electric on 10/17 for CMJ

“Bend Sinister is one of Canada’s most powerful and most underrated bands.
They don’t write songs, they write ANTHEMS.“
– CBC Radio

Vancouver's Bend Sinister (Dan Moxon, Jason Dana, Matt Rhode, Joseph Blood) has confirmed a run of U.S. tour dates this November in support of their latest release, the critically-acclaimed Small Fame.  The 12-track album was released on July 10 via File Under: Music and is their first full-length album in nearly 4 years.  Produced by Shawn Cole (You Say Party!, Yukon Blonde), Small Fame was recorded at Fader Master and Mushroom Studios in Vancouver.  The band is already on the road up north, but will make their way down to the States on November 6 when they kick off a month of U.S. tour dates in Seattle.  They will travel down the west coast hitting Portland, Oakland, Santa Barbara, San Diego and will then make their way over to Scottsdale and Las Vegas before wrapping up in Boise on November 18.  You can also catch the band in New York on October 17 and October 20 when they perform at Bowery Electric and Rock shop, respectively, for CMJ Music Festival.  More tour dates to be announced shortly

Small Fame has been seeing some great reviews since its release in June.  Babysue.org raved, "Small Fame packs quite a punch and will probably be the album that puts these guys on the map."  The band was featured in Alternative Press Magazine and also talked to Fearless Radio about the new album back in June.  They also shared some of their favorite spots in their hometown of Vancouver with CMJ.

Forming in 2001, Bend Sinister seem to almost revel in their ability to confound listeners and industry types. They churn out blisteringly fast prog influenced songs, followed by chirpy and cheerful Beach Boys soaked melodies. They are the kind of musicians who have both Hall and Oates and Iron Maiden in their vinyl collections and are not afraid to admit any influence or try any new sound.  At the heart of Bend Sinister sits vocalist and keyboard player Dan Moxon. His soft spoken and warm demeanor belie the frenetic stage antics and vocal gymnastics that have made him one of the most unforgettable front men in the Canadian indie scene. The rest of the band is just as dynamic. If Moxon is the heart, drummer Jason Dana is the gut. Channeling the best beats of Thin Lizzy and Led Zeppelin, Dana propels the band through their live set like a twin-engine jet. At the flanks are guitar wizard Joseph Blood and newcomer, bassist Matt Rhode.  For the last three years, Bend Sinister have been a tornado of activity on the music scene. Their most recent single, “Things Will Get Better” (produced by Howard Redekopp), was added to commercial radio stations across Canada and reached number 2 on the CBC radio 3 chart. The band has played a ton of festivals throughout Canada including POP Montreal, Olio Festival and Live at Squamish and has opened for METRIC, Hot Hot Heat, Minus the Bear and more.

“Their level of musicianship is top-notch “
