In support of their upcoming, debut album titled "Onfim Goes to War" out July 1st on Smacktone Records, New Jersey garage-punk phenom Livewires have premiered the latest track from the release, titled "Young Prayer" streaming exclusively at The Big Takeover
In addition, the band is announcing a series of upcoming album release shows, and has also premiered their classic and classy new video for "The Weight I'm Feeling" HERE.
About Livewires:
Distilling the sounds of punk, surf, and garage, Saddle Brook, NJ's Livewires makes smart and catchy indie rock. The young outfit is made up of childhood friends Brian Wiseman (guitar, vocals), Tom Pernetti (drums), and brothers Chris and Mike Martinez (bass and guitar, respectively).
The foursome's debut full-length, Onfim Goes to War - available July 1st via Smacktone Records - is an accomplished demonstration of Wiseman's growth as a songwriter. Expanding on the punch-to-the-gut sound of 2013's Strong Colors EP, "Onfim" finds the band exploring new territory, crafting bright and infectious pop songs. Livewires titled the new album in honor of an inspiring young hero of theirs - In the 1950s, archaeologists discovered ancient Russian birch bark drawings that had been preserved for centuries, dating back to the Middle Ages. Some of these drawings were made by a six-year-old student named Onfim who, amidst writing his lessons from class and practicing his alphabet, would daydream and sketch fantasies of becoming a warrior and going to battle.
Says the band, Onfim knows hes meant for something great without knowing what he's up against. Onfim will sacrifice more than he expected to save us. Onfim is Bugs Bunny stuffing graffiti down Elmer Fudd's rifle, and when judgment day is past, the only comfort he'll have is that he laughed in its face.
