[New York, NY - November 13, 2013] A$AP Rocky takes a serious turn in his "Phoenix" video, premiering today on MTV Jams at 3:56pm ET. Immediately following the premiere, Rocky takes over the entire hour of Rap Fix Live with host Sway. The "Phoenix" video will air every hour on MTV2 and MTV Jams during regular video hours.
Directed by world-renowned photographer and Emmy Award nominated directorFrancesco Carrozzini, the dramatic and stylish clip features actor Michael K. Williams (Boardwalk Empire, The Wire) and model Joan Smalls (ranked #1 model in world according to Models.com) as a couple that gets into an intense dispute.
One of the more pensive and poignant songs on Rocky's #1 debuting albumLONG.LIVE.A$AP, the video captures the intensity of his lyrics as he explained to MTV News: "This tale of a Phoenix is it dies and is reborn in its own ashes. So metaphorically we wanted to manifest that into my video."
Carrozzini adds: "Directing this video was like making a small movie with this amazing talent, a lot of my life went into it, it was sincere."
The "Phoenix" video was written by Asia Argento and Francesco Carrozzini.
