understated, beautiful acts in independent music today. Jump on board while
they’re still small. 100% recommended.”

Glass Vaults are New Zealand natives Richard Larsen and Rowan Pierce. Two freakishly talented musicians with an uncanny knack for delivering lush, trance-inducing, hallucinatory walls of sound that shimmer with ghostly incantations capable of transporting you deep into an aural other-world of their own creation. Hot on the heels of their North American live performance debut at L.E.S. hotspot Pianos (5/29), where they’re currently holding residency through June, Glass Vaults just premiered their newest single, “Crystallise,” on Indie Shuffle, and we’re offering it up here as a free download for your summer enjoyment. Kick back, have a listen, and allow yourself to be enveloped in the golden dreamscapes of a band We All Want Someone to Shout For is calling, “One of the most talented young bands…” they have come across in ages.
2010 found Larsen and Pierce recording their first EP, Glass, on Pierce’s grandmother’s farm before teaming up with producer Bevan Smith (Signer, Over the Atlantic, Ruby Suns) to release the dream laced ambient recordings via Jukboxr on limited edition vinyl. The EP went on to appear as Insound’s Track of the Week and garnered heaps of national attention. Their second, equally as stunning EP, Into Clear, released in October 2011 digitally, and on CD and vinyl.
To date, Glass Vaults have garnered a ton of love from the blogosphere and there is a well-deserved hum of anticipation surrounding “Crystallise,” and the fact that they are here on U.S. shores to share with us these finely crafted sounds that hypnotically migrate between subtle electronics and pulsating percussion. What’s more, this is not just music for your headphones; Glass Vaults’ live show epically translates the spaciousness and melodic clarity of their recorded work and stretches it into fully realized dimensions of textural sound, creating an experience we would imagine is something like blissfully losing yourself in a constellation of shimmering stars.
