Sugar & Gold Announce Fall Tour; New 12" w/ Justin Van Der Volgen of !!! remix
Androgynous and genreless, the freaky five-some that is San Francisco's Sugar & Gold undulate somewhere between the sexy & mischievous minimalism of Glass Candy and the exuberantly intricate pop production aesthetic of Of Montreal. Having spent time on the road with the latter, S&G have found family and fandom in the indie-dance underground, sharing kinship with bands like Hot Chip, Rubies, and !!!. The 'AYA' EP/12" here arrives October 16th, just in time for their extensive coast to coast tour of the US. Justin Van Der Volgen of !!! provides a searing remix, and also included is a cover of the cult hit "Slice Me Nice," originally by Fancy.

"The Scissor Sisters-ish sass of Sugar and Gold, featuring pumps-and-pearls-wearing singer Philipp Mining (who's straight!), was jubilant, and the sexed-up shenanigans of S.F.'s gravy train a wild ride as always. Synchronized dance moves, lascivious lyrics, wacky outfits and bare butts. What's not to love?"

"San Francisco's Sugar & Gold were the surprise hit of the night, bringing live 70s disco music to present day. Local musicians and music snobs alike were in awe of their talent and authenticity- this was no crappy cover band. S&G mastered the sound, choreography (including a back-flip off a band member's shoulders!) and the costumes. (Captain's hat and glitter? Check!)"
- Tucson Weekly
"Welcome to the world of Sugar & Gold, a smart bunch of smoking-hot twentysomethings singing about diamond rings and pink champagne- and working the sexiest booty-shaking funk this side of 1978. At a recent concert at Bottom of the Hill, the crowd threw decorum and posturing to the wall and shimmied until the band's set was over"
