Royal Oak Music Theatre Concert Announcement: Gogol Bordello

ROYAL OAK- Gypsy punk rock band Gogol Bordello is scheduled to perform at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Monday, March 3rd, 2008. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 25th at 5pm!

Forming in New York City’s lower east side Gogol Bordello’s early gigs involved playing straight gypsy music at Russian weddings, but their music soon evolved into the hyper-kinetic explosions that earned them a solid following amongst New York's downtown hipsters. The 10 person band combines a wide array of creative instrumentation and flamboyant choreography to create a bizarre cabaret performance that leaves every audience in awe and wanting more.

Gogol Bordello released their first album Voi-La Intuder in 1999. The album reinforced the bands’ standing as an influential and inspirational force in music. Since their first release, the band has collaborated with powerhouse artists like Madonna, Primus, Flogging Molly and Cake. The band took their name partly from Nikolai Gogol, an ideological influence who is responsible for “smuggling” Russian culture into European literacy society. They then combined it with Bordello, which means “Gentleman’s club.” With such entertaining roots, one can leave to their imagination the influential intent of Gogol Bordello.

Gogol Bordello will take the stage at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Monday, March 3rd, 2008. Doors open at 7:00pm, and the show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 25th, 2008 at 5pm. Tickets are available for $20 in advance, $23 day of show and all ages are welcome. Tickets can be purchased at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Box Office, all tickets.com outlets, tickets.com, AEGlive.com or charge by phone at 800-919-6272.
