DURAN DURAN and KELLY CLARKSON Take Center Stage on BIO This January

As we enter 2008, join Bio in celebrating classic and modern-day chart-toppers with an all-star musical line-up featuring two tuneful premiere episodes of BIOGRAPHY®. All-new episodes of the Emmy award-winning documentary series taking center stage include DURAN DURAN (1/10) & KELLY CLARKSON (1/17). The premiere episodes, shot in high definition, will air on Bio and simulcast on Bio HD, available on DIRECTV.

BIOGRAPHY®: DURAN DURAN

Premieres January 10 @ 9PM ET/ 8PM CT/ 10PM PT

The strikingly handsome quintet from Birmingham, led by singer Simon Lebon and keyboardist Nick Rhodes, pumped out three decades of top hits including "Hungry Like The Wolf," "Rio," "Save A Prayer" and "The Reflex." Their music videos, often shot in exotic locales around the world, became MTV chart-toppers and their popular live act peaked with a global audience of millions at 1985's "Live Aid." Although Duran Duran has never broken up, they have changed their line-up through the years and are currently on tour to support their newest release, “Red Carpet Massacre.”

BIOGRAPHY ®: KELLY CLARKSON

Premieres January 17 @ 9PM ET/ 8PM CT/ 10PM PT

Kelly Clarkson’s life story sounds like a Hollywood script – small-town girl finds success in the big city – but for Clarkson it is a true story. After growing up in Burleson, Texas, Clarkson took her homemade CD and headed to California in search of her big break. After much disappointment, she moved back home, where she worked as a cocktail waitress and vacuum salesperson. In 2002, Clarkson entered American Idol and sang "A Moment Like This," and won the contest. She has stayed at the top of the charts with the rocker "Since You've Been Gone," picked up two Grammy Awards for her second multi-platinum disc, "Breakaway," and has sold over 16 million albums worldwide. Her third album, “My December” was released June 26, 2007.

TAD "Busting Circuits and Ringing Ears" | MVD Visual

Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll with a side dish of lawsuits and in-band turmoil, Busting Circuits and Ringing Ears chronicles the band’s rise and eventual disintegration. It contains archival footage spanning the band's entire career, from the club days to the arenas. The documentary also utilizes insightful interviews from some of Seattle's most respected musicians including Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Chad Channing (Nirvana), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Mark Felchtone (Zeke), and many others.

The audience will be taken on a musical journey from the highest of the highs, to the bands all time lows. It’s truly a frustrating story of the band's repeated bad luck juxtaposed with a close-up look at their influential musical approach. As Charles Cross (author/writer) states in the movie, this is a story of, “What could have been as opposed to what was”.

MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE Grab #1 Billboard Hot Dance Single after 95 Weeks!

New York, NY - After an astonishing 95 weeks on Billboard's Hot Dance Singles Sales chart, the MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE single "Straight to Video" has reached its highest position to date, Number One. Coincidentally, MSI's single for "Shut Me Up" is currently perched at Number Four on the same chart wherein it has resided for 66 weeks (of which it has been in the Number One spot seven separate times).

Both singles are culled from 2005's UCR/Metropolis Records album You'll Rebel to Anything which is set for an expanded & remastered re-release stateside on January 22nd. Most recently, MSI's first ever DVD, Our Pain, Your Gain debuted at #5 on Billboard's Top Music Video chart, selling 3,500 copies in its first week this past September.

MSI are currently gearing up for the release of their new full length studio album, IF, which will be released in late April 2008 worldwide.

BIOGRAPHY:
New York's Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) is an inflammatory band which has been mixing punk rock and driving electronic music together since 1997. With an amalgamation of sounds and genres, the band has been storming the electronic and punk scenes, garnering many hardcore fans in their wake with both their recorded material, and manic live performances.

Not only has MSI supported such bands as System of a Down and Korn, they've partaken in many large North American festivals in recent history. They twice performed at the Voodoo Music Experience with the likes of Iggy Pop, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, and in 2004, the band was a headlining performer at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival alongside Radiohead, The Cure, Kraftwerk, and The Pixies. The following year, the band performed at the US Download Festival, alongside The Killers, Arcade Fire & HIM.

After the release of several CDs and singles, as well as such opportune opening slots and festival performances, MSI's headlining shows throughout North America have become some of the hottest tickets in town, wherein the band frequently will play to a sold-out venue.

In 2005, MSI released You'll Rebel to Anything, and shipped over 130,000 copies. The band hit the road for the album and never looked back, gaining massive exposure and more fans along the way. In early 2006, the band garnered more attention with the chart-topping single, Straight to Video: The Remixes. The single debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales chart, and remained in the top five for several months following. The follow-up single, entitled Shut Me Up: The Remixes +3 – featuring remixes by Ronan Harris (VNV Nation), Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Rob Zombie, Static X), and Tommie Sunshine – debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales charts, and has regained that ranking multiple times into 2007!

Rounding out 2006, MSI released a limited edition EP (exclusive through Hot Topic stores within North America) entitled Another Mindless Rip Off. Featuring five new demos alongside five remixes What Do They Know?, the third single from You'll Rebel to Anything, the EP sold out in a matter of weeks.

Having already toured extensively across North America during the summer of 2007 – headlining the "Revolution" stage of Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution – the band released their first ever DVD, Our Pain, Your Gain which captures their three night stand at NYC's Webster Hall, and began working hard to play to many adoring fans outside of this country. Not only did they recently complete a sold-out headlining tour throughout the UK, they were direct support for My Chemical Romance throughout Europe in November 2007. In February of 2008, they will be touring throughout Australia, New Zealand & Japan.

Shortly thereafter, the band will put the finishing touches on their new album, IF (late April 2008, worldwide), before heading out once again to take their music to the masses, most notably as co-headliner of the massive rock n' roll extravaganza Bamboozle on May 3rd/4th, 2008 in New Jersey. A full North American headlining tour is to follow with The Birthday Massacre as direct support. As anyone that has seen MSI live can tell you, Mindless Self Indulgence's name truly manifests itself during their incendiary live shows...

Canadian Music Icon Bif Naked Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Vancouver, BC - Only three months after her highly publicized marriage to Vancouver Sun extreme sports columnist Ian Walker, platinum selling Bodog Music recording artist Bif Naked revealed Sunday in a candid radio interview with noted Canadian television and radio personality George Stroumboulopoulos that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"It is a very surreal situation for Ian and I at this time. Two weeks ago, I was doing a self breast exam and discovered a lump. I went into my doctor for a checkup and he immediately sent me for tests, including a mammogram, which indicated a high possibility of cancer. From there, things have gone at what seems like light speed: biopsy, blood tests, cancer clinic. It's been two weeks from being completely healthy to cancer patient with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy scheduled," explained Bif.

Bif Naked is currently in preproduction on two new albums. The first is the highly anticipated sixth Bif Naked album, following her 2005 release Superbeautifulmonster. She has also devoted herself to a second recording project, Jakkarta, with Spanish-born, death-metal guitarist La Machina. The music of Jakkarta revisits the heavier sounds of Bif's roots and the gutsiness of her early works.

"I plan on taking it one day at a time and to tackle this with a positive attitude," Bif told George on his nationally-syndicated radio program The Strombo Show. "I have never been one to give up when an obstacle is placed in front of me. I am in the fight of my life, and I'm lucky to have the support of my husband Ian and many friends and family members. With the help of my Bodog Music family, I plan to continue working on these recording projects in between the cancer treatments and come out the other side with two great albums and a clean bill of health. "I'm glad it's me and not my mom," Bif continued.

"I'm glad it's me and not my sister. I'm glad it's me and not any of my friends. I am ready for the fight."

Bif Naked's career has been built on her tireless touring, performing and recording. Additionally, her efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle and straight edge obedience are Bif's badges of honor. Her diligence in maintaining the diet of a live food vegan, a stringent workout ethic and yoga schedule keep Bif centered.

Bif notes, "It is important for everyone to understand that cancer is non discriminatory and even those in great health can be subject to cancer as a diagnosis. I urge all women at every age to self examine and go for scheduled mammograms. Early Detection is the best tool in the fight against cancer."

MORCHEEBA Dive Deep on ULTRA Records this February

Multi-million-selling and critically acclaimed darlings of down-tempo, Morcheeba, will release their highly anticipated sixth and latest album
Dive Deep in the US on February 19th on Ultra Records.

Having sold 6 million albums, toured the world over and produced some of the most moving
and instantly recognizable tunes throughout the nineties and “noughties”,
Morcheeba are about to make a massive return with their new album "Dive Deep",
that is considered by the founding members as an “emotional blueprint”
which has restored their faith in music.

Morcheeba’s refusal to be categorized musically extends to the band’s set-up, and in 2008,
these pioneers of song-based dance music have become an eclectic and open-minded collective.
The thoughts and experiments of the creators and musical minds behind the band are brothers
Paul and Ross Godfrey who provide the backbone and unique sound that
has gotten the band where they are today. This time the band have delved into a new territory and
have produced songs with various guest vocal collaborators,
most of who were sought out via myspace and the internet, artists they discovered and wanted to provide
a platform and a canvas for them to collaborate, resulting in a truly innovative and daring album.

Guests on "Dive Deep" range from established names such as acclaimed singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke,
to relative newcomers Thomas Dybdahl from Norway, rapper Cool Calm Pete, and Manda,
a French singer who contacted the Godfreys via Myspace, admitting it was her dream to sing with Morcheeba.

Ha Ha Tonka Play 2008 Sundance Film Festival - Music on Main January 24th

Ha Ha Tonka had a banner year in 2007, releasing their Bloodshot debut, “Buckle in the Bible Belt” to critical raves. They were featured in SPIN Magazine’s Buzzworthy section as well as getting rave reviews in PopMatters, CMJ and No Depression. After touring with Meat Puppets, the band landed a slot on the influential Music on Main festival, one of the musical highlights of the Sundance Film Festival. Music on Main takes place Thursday, January 24th on the outdoor stage at Lower Main Street between 6:30 – 9:00pm. Music on Main is presented by Adobe Systems, Entertainment Weekly, HP and Volkswagen of America.

About the Band:

Roaring out of the Ozarks with a bottle in one hand and a bible in the other, Ha Ha Tonka mix sanctified four-part harmonies and blistering rock, carving out songs that evoke the dichotomies that define their home. The Springfield, Missouri natives dubbed their new album “Buckle in the Bible Belt” in homage to their hometown, so named for its position on the dividing line of the Ozark states. Their dark view of the realities of socio-economic hardship, backwoods prejudices and drug abuse is leavened by wry humor and a deep appreciation for regional storytelling traditions.

The band’s first single from the album, “St. Nick on the Fourth in a Fervor” combines harmonies and biting guitar riffs with lyrics that delve into issues of nationalism, religious allegiances, and rites of passage. “It’s an attempt to point out the fallacy of wrapping yourself in the flag, religion or worse yet, both at the same time,” explained singer/guitarist Brian Roberts. The song also depicts better times, with the refrain “…this glimpse of brilliance is much better than your long look at mediocrity.” “Gusto” and “Up Nights” tackle the tragic legacy of methamphetamine in rural areas while “Hangman” and original “Caney Mountain” mine the deep veins of regional folk music.

What’s a Ha Ha Tonka? It's a nod to the boys' Ozark pride. It's the name of a state park in southwestern Missouri, full of natural bridges, sandstone cliffs, caves and a castle. That's right, a castle. Some crackpot rich guy built himself a Scottish style castle around 1900. It burned down, but the ruins are still an attraction. Thus, Ha Ha Tonka want you all to know there is more to their home stomping grounds than Branson, walnut bowl outlet stores and Jesse James' hideout.

Sundance 2008 - Music on Main - Thursday, January 24th
638 Park Avenue (between Main Street and Heber Avenue), Park City
6:30 – 9:00pm (Individual Set Times TBA) – Admission is free and open to the public

The Little Ones Announce Debut Album Details And Tour

Los Angeles' The Little Ones (Ed Reyes - guitar/vocals, Ian Moreno - guitar, Lee LaDouceur - keyboards, Brian Reyes - bass) are set to release their debut album Morning Tide on April 15, 2008.

Morning Tide is a bright, bold pop album and marks the next chapter of The Little Ones story. Instantly fresh, the band have taken the foundations of their critically acclaimed mini album "Sing Song" and set them on a jet plane that soars out of the stereo.

Whereas "Sing Song" was a joyous amalgam of wire-thin guitars, handclaps and Motown rhythms- the band take that classic west coast sound but sprinkle something on it, give it a twist, and of course add their own heavy dose of originality on Morning Tide.

Spending most of last year on the road with the likes of French Kicks, The Kaiser Chiefs, Voxtrot, and The Magic Numbers, The Little Ones have sharpened both their taut guitar-pop and unpretentious worldview to a razors edge.

Recorded in LA with Dave Newton, the album has been mixed predominantly by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons), with Andrew Weatherall (Primal Scream's Screamadelica) and Jason Cox (Gorillaz) also involved.

A 'little' history: Having met at high school, Ed and Ian bonded while DJing at Loyola Marymount's KXLU radio station. Ian played indie-pop; Ed played classical. The decision to create a classic pop group was a simple one. Recruiting keyboardist Lee through the usual tangle of friends and acquaintances, the final piece in the jigsaw arrived in the shape of bassist Brian (brother of Ed). By August 2005 The Little Ones were playing their first gig at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles. And the name? Inspired by Ed’s two pug dogs, universally referred to as ‘the little ones’.

We The Kings Poised To Reign in 2008!

We The Kings, an alternative pop-rock band from Bradenton, Florida released their self-titled debut CD on October 2 (S-Curve Records). The CD had an impressive debut on the Billboard Heatseekers chart where it is currently #11 and it is #6 on the Billboard Alternative New Artist chart. Additionally, the band has a strong presence on the Internet with over 2.6 million plays on MySpace and they are currently #13 on MySpace’s Alternative Top Artist chart.

To coincide with the release of the CD, the band shot a music video for the song “Skyway Avenue,” which has received a tremendous response. The video won mtvU’s “The Freshman” competition (a contest where viewers vote on line for their favorite video) and is in full-time rotation (20-25 spins per week). The video also hit the #2 spot on both the Dean’s List (determined by searches, streams and profile views) and the “Most Streamed Video” on mtvU.com. The views on YouTube are huge with 600,000 plays.

“Skyway Avenue,” is on heavy rotation on AOL Radio’s Emo station with 46 spins per week with a listener score of 9.47 out of 10. Other tracks on the CD have been tapped for usage on national TV shows. “This Is Our Town,” a ballad, which serves as a love letter to the band’s hometown has been prominently featured on the CW network during promo’s for the upcoming season of “One Tree Hill.” The song was also featured on MTV’s Newport Harbor, along with the song, “Stay Young.”

We The Kings, Travis Clark (vocals/guitar), Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Thomsen (bass) and Danny Duncan (drums), took their name from King Middle School, where all four band members attended.

On their debut, the Florida natives embrace their upbringing showing love for Bradenton on their self-titled disc. Songs such as “Skyway Avenue,” August Is Over,” and “This Is Our Town” speak directly to Bradenton locales and the culture of the resort community. Guitarist Hunter Thomsen even proudly sports a tattoo of the Sunshine State on his chest.

“We really just wanted to reflect on how much our hometown means to us, how it sculpted us and, even beyond the band, how long we’ve all been together,” says singer/guitarist/songwriter Travis Clark.

In 2007, the band inked a deal with S-Curve Records and went into the studio to create their debut album. The album was produced by S*A*M and Sluggo (Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship) and mixed by Lou Giordano (Plain White T’s, Taking Back Sunday) and Tom Lord-Alge (Fall Out Boy, Blink-182). We The Kings is managed by Bret Disend/Ozone Entertainment (Boys Like Girls, Metro Station).

We The Kings have been touring non-stop since this summer with bands such as Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Madina Lake, and Mayday Parade. This month, the band will hit the road for “The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour,” with Cobra Starship, Metro Station and The Cab. The Black Hollies Announce New Album, Release Shows, and US Tour!

While it may seem like the members of The Black Hollies were all born about forty years too late, the Creative Outlaws-like proclivities of their music is something desperately needed to spark today’s generation of young musicians. Be they a chic shimmy or a modish strut, the overall trippy freakbeat terrain of The Black Hollies goes on a journey through time and encompasses all the glory days and scenes of psychedelic music, be it a human-be in at Golden Gate Park circa the Summer of Love, or a walk down London’s colorful Carnaby Street in the swinging '60s. But make no mistake, The Black Hollies aren’t a mere throwback band aping the past but instead a crew of forward thinking Jersey boys that are well schooled in the roots of music stemming from a time when rock and roll was molded into kaleidoscopic proportions and fused with cleaver pop hooks.

On their second album Casting Shadows, The Black Hollies take that sonic formula and push their ever growing impetus forward into an eclectic smorgasbord of reverb-drenched euphoria with a pure pop dexterity for a soiree-filled good time of a listen. While it will no doubt appeal to listeners with a fondness for legends like Cream, Syd-era Pink Floyd, and The Yardbirds, not to mention modern day psych-rock paladins such as the Black Lips and the Warlocks, Casting Shadows won’t only be one of their career pinnacles but will serve as something akin to nouvelle vague revival on psychedelic-rock and indie pop as a whole. Check your watch. 2008 is The Black Hollies' time!

More about The Black Hollies:

Some acts are content to find a style and stick with it. The Black Hollies are more interested in progress. When the band convened in 2005 to record their debut, Crimson Reflections, it was something of an experiment, mixing 60's soul and pop structures with rave-up rock results. Now, after wide acclaim and a practice regiment that has left their jaw-dropping live shows tighter than a pegged pant leg, they've reached a little further into space, introduced a wonderfully psychedelic element to their sound, and come out on the other side with Casting Shadows, a powerful rock album full of unforgettable nuggets.

Led by songwriter, vocalist and bassist Justin Angelo Morey, this crew of NY/NJ natives and lifelong friends also includes fellow Rye Coalition alums Herb Wiley V and Jon Gonnelli on dueling interstellar guitars, and the freak-beat drumming of Scott Bolasci (who has since been replaced on the live circuit by the seemingly 8-armed wonder Nick Ferrante). Together, the quartet meld classic rock touchstones with a disparate amount of influences and ideas, Wiley is featured on electric sitar for a number of tracks, and the record features the drones of an Indian noisebox called the ragini throughout. From the opening ghostly blast of "Whispers In The Forest", careening through the perfectly realized gem "Paisley Pattern Ground" and the mind twisting changes of "Bruised Tangerines" and finally settling into the soothing cool-down of "Patient Sparrow", Casting Shadows is an album in a time when folks have started to forget about the beauty of a cohesive record.

Garnering massive accolades over their East Coast adventures and unforgettable performances at both SXSW and CMJ as well as hometown freakouts alongside everyone from Ted Leo and The Spinto Band to Blue Cheer and Joan Jett to The Fleshtones and The Woggles, The Black Hollies continue to win over any crowd with a mix of straight skill and total sincerity. They'll be on the road throughout 2008 and you can rest assured that if you catch them once, you won't be able to shake it.
