In addition, and following their recent appearance at Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party, the band has also announced a small handful of Northwest performances taking place around the album's release (full itinerary below).

Since 2005, Seattle based punk band Nazca Lines have been piecing together songs which combine emotionally charged lyrics and a loud post-rock/punk instrumentation. Having stuck it out through a number of lineup changes since the band's formation, founding members and guitarists Cory Alfano and Brett Wedeking have recruited Andy King and Ryan Minch on drums and bass, respectively for their upcoming full length album, "Hyperventilation."

Nazca Lines has a punk lineage which shows initially in song writing and energy; however, given a closer inspection the listener can hear a more contemplative and ponderous side of the band. Recorded at the Red Room in Seattle with producer and Minus the Bear founder Matt Bayles (whose recent production work includes Mastodon, ISIS and Russian Circles), "Hyperventilation" draws inspiration from a variety of the band members' shared influences; most notably the Refused, At the Drive-In and Fugazi.

In February 2011, the band released their self-titled EP through Stressed Sumo Records and will be releasing their latest full length album on August 23rd also through the label. Stressed Sumo Records was set up in Derby, UK in 2007 by Therapy? drummer Neil Cooper and Phil Rhodes.

* Additional guitar on ‘Spike Them All’ and ‘New Volume’ by Cody Votolato (Blood Brothers, Hyro Da Hero and Jaguar Love), piano on ‘New Volume’ by Evan Friday. Hyperventilation was mastered at RFI, Seattle by Ed Brooks (Pearl Jam, Fleet Foxes)

However this has granted us the opportunity for a very special lineup that you will only get a chance to see, as Alex Tomlin from Battlemaster will be stepping in to offer his services of tearing up the skins for us. These items will only be available at these shows.
In related news, LOCUSTA will play The Goregrowler's Ball in San Antonio this coming November, alongside metal giants such as Suffocation, Hirax, Exhumed, Goatwhore, Aborted and many more. In conjunction with that festival appearance, the band are set to appear on a four-way split release to be unleashed by Texas metal label Ossuary Industries, along with Demoniacal Genuflection, Iniquitous (featuring Mike Smith of Suffocation), HOD, and Ingurgitate. The split will feature three unreleased LOCUSTA songs as well as a cover, and will be available for purchase at the Ossuary Industries tent during the Goregrowler's Ball. A South/West coast tour will be booked around the festival, and tentative plans are being made to enter the studio to record their next full-length sometime between fall of 2011 and winter of 2012. More tour dates and updates to come.
In the meantime, check out some live footage of LOCUSTA performing at the Newport Music Hall last November HERE.

LOCUSTA
released their debut full-length via Kentucky-based Pragmatic Records upon an unsuspecting underground in 2010. The 10-track, self-titled offering was recorded/engineered by Brian Simakis at Capital City Studios, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound Mastering and features strikingly stark cover art by local artist Stefan Hoza. Formed in the fall of 2006, LOCUSTA take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. It was rumored that in A.D. 54, she may have been hired by Agrippina The Younger to kill the Emperor Claudius, possibly with a poisoned dish of mushrooms.

UNEARTH's fifth full-length, Darkness in the Light was released on July 5, 2011 by Metal Blade Records and has been flooring fans and media alike. In a 4/5 rating of the record, Alternative Press said: "Darkness In The Light is a maelstrom of melodic riffs, screamy shouts and enough noodling to keep Guitar Hero nerds happy. But it’s not chasing maidens and slaying dragons; UNEARTH have enough of the ’90s straight-edge hardcore scene still left in their blood to give the lyrics an impassioned warrior cry against corrupt politics and wavering faith." Crave called the record, "…a first rate slice of metal that helps return the meat to the hollowed and empty husk of the metalcore genre," while Ultimate-Guitar noted: "....it's clear that this album takes the best elements from every album released so far and pushes them to their limits. Whether it be the urgency felt from 'Stings Of Conscience' or the thrashiness of 'III: In The Eyes Of Fire,' it's all pushed to its finest point on this album."

CHLLNGR debuts video for "The End"; Announces first string of US dates

CHLLNGR debuts video for "The End"; Announces US Dates

Featuring Aku from Dragons of Zynth, "The End" premieres on Dazed Digital. Haven out now on Green Owl.

Combining elements of dub and R&B with a nocturnal aesthetic, Copenhagen-based producer CHLLNGR (aka Steven Jess Borth II) is one of the freshest sounds to emerge so far this year. Today, Dazed Digital premieres his video Lazlo directed video for "The End" which features a riveting vocal performance from Dragons of Zynth vocalist Aku. A sensual relationship gone over the edge is captured in the video through chiaroscuro lighting and intimate camerawork. A haunting vibe glosses over the images, but the end may just be beginning.

CHLLNGR will also be in NYC in August performing a few dates as CHLLNGR but also performing with Spoek Mathambo and fellow Green Owl labelmates, Teachers. More US tourdates will be announce for this fall. His debut album "Haven" is freshly out now. Listen to the album's title track/centerpiece "Haven" on Pitchfork which they call "chilling, goosebump-inducing". The track utilizes ghostly african rhythms and cavernous pads to coil around Borth's indistinguishable, yet hopeful-sounding intonations.

UPCOMING CHLLNGR SHOWS

8.10 New York, NY @ Piano's with Sherlock's Daughter, Rare Child

8.13 Brooklyn, NY @ Glasslands with Teachers

"The prize in Haven's percussive contributions is not just in the rhythms that result; it's also found in the natural ebb and flow with which they are weaved in and around each song, becoming almost trance-inducing via the simultaneously fluid and exact manner they are presented." - XLR8R

"Blending bass-heavy slowed-down rhythms with melodic vocals mean surprising soundscapes in CHLLNGR's debut "Haven", where deep sub-bass rings out throughout the tracks making for eeries atmospheres." -Dazed Digital

"A versatile and often chill-inducing debut, and a welcome introduction to a young producer who seems more interested in inventing new shades of gray than committing to a specific gimmick or micro-scene. " - Slant Magazine

CHLLNGR

"Haven"

out now on Green Owl Records

After a slew of well-received remixes (The XX, Primary 1, MIA) and involvement with acts Cubic Zirconia, Spoek Mathambo, and Teachers all signs point to 2011 being a good year for the young producer. Utilizing thick and heavy rhythms while optimistic melodies juxtapose against eerie soundscapes, CHLLNGR's debut "Haven" is his most focused, distinctive work to date.

While cohesive in it's murky, hauntingly reverbed vibes, "Haven" is far from monochromatic and full of surprises with spectral soul tightly intertwining with meticulous rhythms that can't easily be classified. Deep sub-frequencies and decaying atmospheres lay the foundation for the sublime set of melodic, moody tracks.

The opener "May 3" sets the tone marrying carefully cut drone loops and sampled vocals floating overtop subtle, skittering riddims. Lending his own vocals to the the first single "Ask For", the airy trunk-rattler comes correct with G-Funk synth hooks snaking through the rhythmic maze CHLLNGR creates. Never sounding out of place within the music, the vocals seamlessly integrate into the music often in wordless forms adding more depth to the already emotive interplay of CHLLNGR's electronic palette.

Throughout "Haven" there are more vocal contributions from Borth (many of which are chopped and screwed) to highlight, as well as stunning performances from Coco O. of Quadron and Dragons of Zynth's Aku on the album. " Haven" closes with two tracks that hint at new directions for CHLLNGR including the mantra-like "At Last" with refraining, funky percussion held together with a 4 on the floor kick and the slo-mo electro/R&B stylings of "Dusty" featuring percolating drums and the lovely, mournful voice of Jessica Brown.

Old Flame signs TURF WAR - Debut produced by Black Lips' Ian St. Pé out 10/18!

Old Flame signs Atlanta band Turf War!

Debut album, produced by Black Lips' Ian St. Pé, out October 18, 2011

"promising new release" - Filter "Discover the Undiscovered" feature

"A raucous two and half minutes of sweaty tomfoolery..." - Aquarium Drunkard

Known for rowdy shows and catchy rock songs, Turf War started in 2008 as a bedroom solo project for lead singer John Robinson and quickly turned into a full band with Brian McGrath filling in on drums and backup vocals, Cecil Moss on Guitar, and Bradley Morris on bass. They created a sound reminiscent of early Replacements and brought on a full party attitude to their live sets.

After playing the club circuit in Augusta for 3 years and gaining a wide audience they set their dreams higher and made the move to Atlanta, GA. It didn't take long for people in Atlanta to start recognizing the bands energy and catchy songs. They even caught the attention of fellow Atlanta rocker Ian St Pé of the Black Lips, who came on to produce the bands first full length. In the process of recording the album they met Ian McDonald, who was engineering their record.

John quickly saw a likeness in Ian musically and asked him to join Turf War, making them a five piece. The band headed out to Texas on their first run outside of GA in 2011 to play SXSW, looking for a label to put out their record and hoping to find a wider audience. There in Austin they met label owner Rob Mason of Old Flame records. They hit it off and decided to make a partnership to release the self titled debut of Turf War Years of Living Dangerously, set to street on October 18, 2011. Turf War plans to tour this fall in support of their debut album.

Upcoming Shows:
7/30 - Buckhead Theatre First Anniversary Fest - Atlanta, GA
8/25 - Sky City - August, GA
