BIRDS OF AVALON Tour w/ The Flaming Lips!

The new album from North Carolina psychedelic indie-rockers the Birds of Avalon, Bazaar Bazaar is an exciting whirlwind psych-prog-pop rawk record in the tradition of Cheap Trick, Blue Cheer and Thin Lizzy. " - WXPN in Philadelphia

"It’s the sound of mirror shades, beaver hunts, shag-carpeted muscle vans and cleaning your weed on a gatefold sleeve. In the words of Geezer Butler (or was it Roger Glover?)—stonkin’!" - Harp Magazine

"BOA shudders and roars with the acid-burnt psychedelic prog/blues bluster of the '60s shot through with contemporary punk/pop energy and invention." - Chord Magazine

"70s guitar jams that would do Lynyrd Skynyrd proud" - Outburn Magazine

"Tap a Coors party ball and grow your hair out." - Alternative Press

"Bazaar Bazaar is a lesson in classic rock 'n roll" - Pastepunk.com

After a 7-year stint in a prison van with the double drum, frenetic rock n’ roll assault known as The Cherry Valence, guitarists Cheetie Kumar and Paul Siler, felt a growing desire to move on. In a final whirlwind year that saw The Cherry Valence touring Europe multiple times, the couple, Kumar and Siler, got married and made the difficult decision to divorce their band.

Returning home hitched and band-less, they began late night clandestine meetings with neighbor and local crooner Craig Tilley (The Weather), where they hatched a plan to form Birds of Avalon and laid the foundation for what was to become the first batch of Birds Of Avalon songs. Still needing to round out their line up they snared their favorite area drummer Scott Nurkin (Dynamite Brothers) and soon added multi-instrumentalist and fanatical 4 tracker, David Mueller on bass.

With the release of their debut full length, Bazaar Bazaar, Birds Of Avalon have developed a unique psychedelic meets progressive sound that yields feelings that transcend the conventions of both. Skillfully channeling elements of a time in Rock since past, while maintaining their place in the lineage of North Carolinian independent rock heritage. Easily traversing an area between raw blues rock and atmospheric pysch-pop. Birds Of Avalon “can tear it up in a three-minute barn-burner or lure you into an extended psychedelic journey, wandering schizophrenically like a Brian May guitar solo,” so says Jens Lekman of Cincinnati City Beat.

Bazaar Bazaar was released on May 22nd on Volcom Entertainment and was recorded and produced by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active, Wilco), Greg Elkins and Brian Quast.

More praise:

"It sounded like Sloan gone psych. No, it sounded like Led Zeppelin gone pop. No, that's not quite it either. Black Sabbath meets The Beatles? In fact it's none of those, but the truth lies somewhere in the middle of those comparisons.” - Jim Kopeny (Chicagoist, Donewaiting, Tankboy)

"Like Led Zeppelin psychedelic blues, Black Sabbath's bag of riffs and a love for all things rockin' from the '60s and '70s... The band's debut is a freewheelin' ode to most of what's great about rock'n'roll." - Aversion.com

"The record is so ceaselessly accessible I can't help but call it charming." - The Chicago Reader

"The North Carolina-based group has released a surprisingly strong debut with Bazaar Bazaar, a chugging pop-rock (with emphasis on the latter) effort in a space where ELO, Wolfmother and Sweet coalesce." - The Houston Press

“Led by a pair of guitarists who seem, by sheer force, to be powering their amplifiers rather than the other way around, Birds of Avalon make thunderous, precise rock with enough proggy smarts to keep you on your toes.” Steve Haruch for the Nashville Scene

"Where the Cherry Valence perfected a hybrid of AC/DC, Motörhead, the MC5, and the classic-rock-by-way-of-garage-punk revivalism of the Hellacopters, Birds of Avalon are more about layers, psychedelia, and the song." - Memphis Flyer

“A band capable of delivering three-minute rock bliss and expansive psychedelic workouts with equal chops.” – Salt Lake Tribune

DAFT PUNK'S ELECTROMA: THE MIDNIGHT MOVIE IS BACK

DVD TO BE RELEASED JANUARY 2008 ON VICE RECORDS

"Daft Punk is doing for midnight movies what the French electronica maestros did for disco: injecting the faded genre with their own brand of vitamin Cool." -WIRED

TOKYO ROSE Film Video with Horror Director, Announce Headlining Tour!

New Jersey-based indie rock band Tokyo Rose collaborated with major motion picture director Steve C. Miller (Automaton Transfusion, Machine) on the video for their single "We Can Be Friends Tonight, But Tomorrow I'll Be..." Filmed on Sunday, August 26th at Anaheim, CA's hotbed for indie rock live shows, Chain Reaction, the concept video follows a flirtatious couple playing cat and mouse, prior to the band's performance.

"The Promise In Compromise is neither a broken promise nor a sonic compromise. It is 11 songs of Tokyo Rose at full throttle. I don't remember the last time I was so impressed by a band's sophomore release. There is nothing I would change about this CD except maybe include more songs." -Gus Peña, Chord Magazine

"Lots of bands try it but Tokyo Rose has successfully figured out how to blend all different styles and influences together to come up with their own great sound." - Anthony Raneri, Bayside

“The new album The Promise In Compromise from Tokyo Rose is... something that music has been
missing. With unique vocals and melodies that are stuck in your head [right down] to catchy riffs--
it keeps you wanting more. From... the diversity, clarity, and beauty of this album it is clear that this
is their best effort to date.” - Senses Fail

While listening to their latest album The Promise in Compromise on SideCho Records, the rising horror director was intrigued with the single. "I'm very excited to be on this video," says Miller. "I loved the song and wanted to work with the guys in Tokyo Rose after hearing their new album." Miller is best known for his indie zombie flick Automaton Transfusion and its upcoming sequel Automaton Transfusion: Contingency (due out in 2009). He is currently working on the upcoming MTV film, Machine (from the producers of X-Men and Transformers).

With The Promise in Compromise, Tokyo Rose has created an energetic, guitar-driven collection of songs that is undoubtedly their most upbeat and creative album to date. The catchy first single "We Can Be Best Friends Tonight But Tomorrow I'll Be..." is a lighthearted take on sharing intimacy with female concertgoers only to hit the road a few hours later.

Supporting the July 31st release of The Promise in Compromise, these guys combed the East Coast, jumped on Warped Tour for two weeks to head West and are now preparing for a headlining tour this fall with Peachcake and The Actual.

HARPTALLICA SET TO EMBARK ON TOUR

Following the phenomenal response to the release of the clasically trained harp duo's album, "Harptallica - A Tribute", Harptallica is taking it on the road with tour dates across the Midwest and East Coast in September and October. Plans to heed the requests from Western states and overseas for further appearances are also underway.

Ashley Toman and Patricia Kline, both recipients of Master of Music Degrees from Rochester, NY's Eastman School of Music, formed Harptallica originally to perform a series of arrangements based on the music of Metallica.

The duo's arrangements bring the famed metal band's songs into a new light, illuminating the comfortable transition metal makes into classical music theory and opening those songs to a wider array of listeners.

In bringing their harps on the road, Harptallica hopes both to introduce audiences to new and original combinations of musical styles and to of course give tribute to a band they were both introduced to as a 'musical giant': Metallica.

SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Danger Mouse Update

Six-time nominated, two-time Grammy-winning artist/producer Danger Mouse - half of the #1-selling mega-duo Gnarls Barkley, half of the way-out cartoon-based collaboration Dangerdoom, and sonic architect for the Rapture, Gorillaz, and Sparklehorse - is keeping himself busy. Even for him.

In July, he wrapped up producing Martina Topley-Bird's long awaited sophomore album entitled The Blue God. Best known for her work with trip-hop pioneer Tricky, the British star's debut Quixotic (2003) received rave reviews and was a finalist for that year's Mercury Music Prize. The Blue God will be released in 2008 on the influential label Independiente. As with many Danger Mouse productions, the album was a collaborative project with Danger Mouse contributing his songwriting and performing talents alongside his unmistakable production.

Danger Mouse is currently in the studio producing The Black Keys' fourth album, as yet untitled, but set for release in 2008 on Nonesuch. The Akron-based blues-rock duo, known for their stripped-down aesthetic, their passionate fanbase and their hit "Have Love Will Travel," have never worked with an outside producer before Danger Mouse. Expect a career-pivoting record.

Danger Mouse recently finished producing a new album for the London-based Shortwave Set tentatively entitled Replica Sun Machine. The record features a 24-piece orchestra conducted by Van Dyke Parks (noted for his work with the Beach Boys, Joanna Newsom and other misfit geniuses), with further contributions from The Velvet Underground's John Cale. Replica Sun Machine is expected to be released in early 2008. The Shortwave Set is already buzzing in the UK - the [London] Times called their debut disc "rich and inventive," while the Daily Telegraph simply said that it was "Fabulous."

Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, his partner in worldwide Gnarlsification, have been hidden away at an Atlanta-area ranch, creating the follow up to the debut, multi-platinum Gnarls Barkley St. Elsewhere album. Expect the as-yet untitled disc in late 2007 or early 2008.

CHTHONIC TO HOLD "UNLIMITED NEW YORK" CONCERT PRIOR TO UNITED NATIONS'Taiwanese band ChthoniC -- who will complete their stint as the first-ever

Taiwanese band ChthoniC -- who will complete their stint as the first-ever Asian extreme metal act to tour with Ozzfest this week -- will continue their historic "UNlimited" tour next month, when they will perform their first headlining concerts in America.

"Ozzfest has been a great experience for ChthoniC, but we're excited to perform for our fans for longer than 20 minutes," says vocalist Freddy Lim.

In concert, ChthoniC (pronounced "THON-ick") will continue to perform the tour's theme song, "UNlimited Taiwan," written and recorded this spring "to emphasize the 'UNlimited' potential of Taiwan and the Taiwanese people," Lim says. Like the tour -- which kicked off in Taipei earlier this summer following the international re-release of 2002's "Relentless Recurrence" and
last year's "A Decade On The Throne" two-CD/DVD live set -- the song was named to protest how the United Nations (UN) limits Taiwan's full participation as an independent country. The Washington Post and the International Herald Tribune, among others, have recently devoted lengthy features to the message behind the tour.

With a new session of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled to open in New York on Sept. 18, many pro-Taiwan rallies will be held around the city in the days beforehand. To coincide with the UN session's kickoff -- where Taiwan will once again petition to be formally recognized as an independent country, and not a Chinese province -- ChthoniC will hold a
special "UNlimited New York" concert at Manhattan's Highline Ballroom, located less than three miles from the UN, on Sept. 16. Tickets are currently available on the venue's website, www.highlineballroom.com, and at their box office.

Because this is the group's third New York City concert in recent weeks, coming on the heels of an Aug. 21 performance with Nile and a Sept. 6 concert alongside Katatonia, ChthoniC has arranged for the Highline Ballroom to offer tickets for only $5 to anyone who redeems a ticket stub from one of their previous shows at the venue's box office. For everyone else, a $2
discount can be obtained by purchasing the tickets online atwww.highlineballroom.com (enter "un4taiwan" in the access code field). Furthermore, the first 100 fans in the doors will receive a free set of ChthoniC "paper dolls," which are sold in toy stores throughout Asia. (A photo can be seen here: http://chthonic.server341.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/promophoto01-s mall.jpg)

The "UNlimited New York" concert will be videotaped, and ChthoniC hopes that people of all nationalities will join them in this historic plea for freedom and independence.

Ham1 sets The Captain's Table: Nov. 6, 2007!

Ham1, an Athens, GA mainstay that released its self-titled (and free!) debut to much acclaim in 2005, has been picked up by eco-conscious Orange Twin Records for its second album, The Captain’s Table. Ham1 is the brainchild of Athens songwriter and schoolteacher Jim Willingham, and his newly solidified lineup features Eric Harris of the Olivia Tremor Control on drums as well as contributions from Liz Durrett (whom the band frequently backs up), Kris Barratt of the Capes, and Pete Erchick, also of Olivia Tremor Control. Ham1 takes equal inspiration from old movie soundtracks and modern dilapidation, drawing from jukebox rock and roll archetypes, spaghetti westerns, and flea market lost and found sounds to create original pop songs and instrumental scores. Ham1 will soon embark on the “Three On A Tree Tour” supporting Liz Durrett and Vic Chesnutt and acting as both acts’ backing band.

A ringing attribute of Jim Willingham’s songwriting is that it manages to be both exuberant and high-minded -- inviting and literate -- all at once. Combining the terse acoustic propulsion of the late-model Feelies with the breezy, half-stoned-on-the-beach pop-ambiance of Dean Wareham’s Luna, Willingham nevertheless brings a distinctive Athenian warmth to his Captain’s Table. It figures: there are horn-charts and string-sections, burst veins of Link Wray-ish guitarplay, pastoral keyboard-drones, tremulous bits of Hawaiian slack-key guitar and some country-fried saunter up under the rhythm section. Chiefly, though, there’s that friendly storytelling voice -- half-sung, half-spoken – escorting you through the broken waltzes, atmospheric ballads and jittery rockers, all.

For his first Orange Twin release, Willingham capitalizes on his longstanding musical relationship with a pair of veteran Elephant Six luminaries; former Olivia Tremor Control members, drummer/multi-instrumentalist Eric Harris and keyboardist Pete Erchick, make key textural and compositional contributions to the new disk. Rounding out the idiosyncratic lineup are Athens fixtures Jacob Morris and Chris Sugiuchi on cello and trombone, respectively; acclaimed local songstress Liz Durrett, whom the band often backs on stage, lends her rich vocal harmony to two tracks.

A solid couple years of playing around the south have shorn up the group’s ensemble sound, and The Captain’s Table is strong proof; the group’s intricate instrumental chemistry frames the record perfectly, coalescing Willingham’s sprawling vision into a unified artistic whole -- this is no loose collection of songwriter-plus-band musings. Producer Andy Baker’s shimmering, vibrant patina serves each song with minimal intrusion; there’s an airy, informal atmosphere to the album that makes for rewarding repeated listening: you can choose to skate along the brilliantly crystalline surface of each song or dive full-bore into Willingham’s weird and beautiful lyrical world.

There are definitely echoes of this sort of broken-down nature of the South - an aesthetic that is both good (I know some seriously stylish southern folks) and bad (as in being poor is hard)…the album is a trip, and recommended.

16 FRAMES NEW ARISTA BAND SET FOR RELEASE FEBRUARY 2008!

L.A.-BASED ROCK ACT 16 FRAMES SIGNS WITH ARISTA RECORDS

DEBUT ALBUM SLATED FOR RELEASE FEBRUARY 2008

Track " Let's Not Pretend" to air tonight on MTV's " The Hills " Monday, August 27th

16 Frames, founded by frontman singer/ songwriter Steve Sulikowski has recently signed with Arista Records.

Their self-titled debut album, produced by Matt Serletic is slated for release February 26, 2008. Quickly becoming a favorite with music supervisors, "Let's Not Pretend," a song from their debut album will be featured on Monday, August 27th on MTV's hit show "The Hills." Sulikowski, who penned all of the songs on their forthcoming album comments on the writing process: "With most of my songs, I try to tell a story, but at the same time, I leave the door open for people to fill in the blanks - its meaning can then apply to something very personal to me and to the listener."

After watching "No Direction Home," Scorsese’s documentary on Bob Dylan, Sulikowski began to feel his approach to songwriting evolve. "I started to look at the whole creative process unfolding in a way like a movie.” The process also inspired the meaning of the band’s name, 16 Frames, the lowest frequency at which continuous motion can be perceived. 16 Frames’ future is anything but static with their music already featured on “Men In Trees” and now on the highly anticipated new season of MTV’s “The Hills.” 16 Frames recently completed tour dates opening for Sheryl Crow, Crowded House and Pete Yorn.

White Rabbits Fall Tour With Kaiser Chiefs & Tokyo Police Club / Debut Video "The Plot"

Pitchfork Media 8.1 [On] Fort Nightly, White Rabbit deliver the whole package straight away... “It's
a great debut for a band with an impressive, distinctive sound”

Pitchfork Media “Playlisted” http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/forkcast/43057-the-weeks-best

NPR Song of the Day “The Plot” http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10254991

The Village Voice - “Exuberant Brooklyn rock with no fuzzy distance, either sonic or ironic” http://www.villagevoice.com/music/0721,westhoff,76711,22.html

Pitchfork Media – “Forkcasted” “KID ON MY SHOULDERS” “The song’s dark sway is tough to get out of your head, but it’s hard to imagine wanting to get it out of there anyway.”

Music Week (UK) - Named #2 band at SXSW "There is something quite brilliant about the New York outfit....(who) manage to make the coolest of melodies sound utterly effortless."

Spin Magazine MIX June 07 “the Plot” "An indie-pop soul raver with a non stop beat, atmospheric violin interlude, and roucous whoo-oh-oh refrain the give the Style Council an open-throated heartland shove."

Named One of the 4 Bands to Watch in 2007 in the Onion A.V. Club !!

White Rabbits come to NYC via the arid plains of the Mid West. Although they have been in The City for just over a year they have, in that sort interval, managed to catch the attention of Say Hey Records and producer Chris Zane (Calla, Asobi Seksu, Les Savy Fav) with their stellar songwriting ability and instrumental aplomb.

Lead by dual vocalists, Greg Roberts (Guitar / Vox) and Steve Patterson (Piano / Vox), the 6 piece is rounded out by Alex Even (Guitar / Vox), Adam Russell (Bass), Matt “The Duck” Clark (Drums) and Jamie Levinson (Percussion). With a certain joie de vive, playfulness and charm White Rabbits thematically evoke the more decadent and bygone era of days spent on the green, old cinemas “Tourist Trap”, tragic mothers “Navy Wives”, and restrained, but no less awkward domestic disputes, with the first single, “The Plot”.

Added to their arsenal are 3 part vocal harmonies that texture the album throughout. White Rabbits even showcase the occasional group chant, best exampled on Fort Nightly’s opening track “Kid On My Shoulders” as it thunders to it's conclusion. White Rabbit’s penchant for more tropical excursions such as on “I Used to Complain Now I Don’t”, featuring the horns of Beirut’s (Jon Natchez), are, at times, reminiscent of The Specials or Madness.

The band also has a keen ear for the occasional cover song, and the old instrument switcheroo on stage. Anyone who has had the chance to see White Rabbits live will be able to attest first hand to the joy and effervescence that they exude on stage. True camaraderie in fact. Their sets have gained the band a large and growing audience and led them to share bills with Peter Bjorn & John, The Walkmen, Richard Swift and others. A full tour is planned for the late spring as well.

White Rabbits have succeeded in realizing a tremendously vibrant and creative debut record with Fort Nightly. They communicate joy without being cloying or saccharine sweet, and the listeners could easily find themselves clapping along to any one of the darker moments. White Rabbits combine style and panache, both musical and personal, for a thoroughly fresh and unexpected experience. This is certainly one to follow though the looking glass…

Art Brut:

Spin Magazine “Complicated shows a real grasp of musical history.”

Rolling Stone “It all adds up to something lovably unpretentious – and pretty unique.”

Entertainment Weekly “Idiosyncratic yet entertaining guitar-based pop.”

Los Angeles Times “ As good as much of the new British rock can be, it is experiencing acreeping seriousness these days. "It's a Bit Complicated" is a welcome corrective.”

It makes sense that Art Brut share its name with the mid-20th century art movement characterized by a breaking of traditional cultural boundaries. Much like that Art Brut—outsiderish, rebellious, punk before punk— this Art Brut, too, is deliciously libertine.

Art Brut was willed into being in 2003 by its sardonic frontman Eddie Argos. Argos seemed to think that everyone should be in a band—why not? Jonathan Richman-obsessed and more of a talker than a singer, Argos fronted The Art Goblins in his native Bournemouth, before packing up for London and convincing guitarists Jasper Future and Ian Catskilkin, bassist Frederica Feedback and drummer Mikey B to record a demo. The band recorded Brutlegs in 2004, and it included early versions of “Modern Art,” “Formed a Band,” and “Moving to LA.” “Emily Kane” was released in early 2005, about, yes, Argos’ actual high school love. It didn’t win her back (she’s got a boyfriend, natch), but it did turn Art Brut into a buzz band in their native UK.

A few months later the band released Bang Bang Rock and Roll. Touring commenced. They played with Oasis, and performed at Coachella. Then came the cover of Rolling Stone in Germany. There seemed a good chance that Argos might get his long-held wish of playing on Top of the Pops (it never happened).

While they haven’t yet written the song that “makes Israel and Palestine get along,” as promised in “Formed a Band,” Art Brut have succeeded in garnering a dedicated legion of fans and copycats. It’s all part of Argos’ master plan—Art Brut “franchise” bands. He swears there’s “at least 30 or 40 around” and it’s cutthroat competition to be the best. In a recently held battle of the franchises Art Brut 7 won (they’re Argos’ favorite). Art Brut 4 is rather sour about that.

Having just finished the band’s second full-length, It’s a Bit Complicated, Argos and crew are set to head back on the road this spring and summer, playing dates across the U.S. and Europe with Maximo Park in tow. Argos claims the new record is poppier than the first—could that be possible? Either way, with tracks titled “Pump Up the Volume” and “I Will Survive,” expect it to be tongue-in-cheek and rancorously funny.

And yes, it might just lead to peace in the Middle East.

The Hold Steady:

Blender "Band of the Year"

Newsweek "This Brooklyn-based, Minneapolis-bred garage-rock quintet has earned a near-religious
following..."

Rob Sheffield for RollingStone.com "Damn you, Hold Steady! How can any band be this good? Boys and Girls in Americais the third straight chain-smoker from everybody’s favorite Brooklyn bar band."

NME "Sounding akin to Art Brut playing Bruce Springsteen songs, this lot's show at The Annex was, start to finish, thrilling. Not only does their bassist look like a fascist Super Mario, but in singer Craig Finn, they possess the kind of wry lyrical genius that makes Morrissey look like a total spak."

New York Magazine “Boys and Girls in America, a tutorial on the visceral pleasures of rock."

Since the October ’06 release of Boys and Girls in America, The Hold Steady have proven their road-worthiness with almost 300 shows played throughout the U.S., U.K., and Europe. RollingStone.com recently included The Hold Steady in their list of “Top 20 Live Bands Right Now”. Plus, the band's mind-blowing performances at Festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, as well as their sold-out club tours, shows that fans just can’t get enough of them.

Currently, the band is in the UK, where they opened for The Rolling Stones in Dublin and will headline the Carling stages at both the Leeds and Reading Festivals. The Hold Steady’s European tour finds them performing in Croatia for the first time.

Underworld Announces Additional US Tour Dates and More!

OBLIVION WITH BELLS, UNDERWORLD’S FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS, DUE OUT OCTOBER 16th

Album Is The First Release From Side One Recordings

Underworld Launches World Tour September 7th in San Francisco

UNDERWORLD LIVE - 2007
Septmeber - 7 San Francisco, CA The Warfield
September - 8 San Francisco, CA The Warfield
September - 9 Los Angeles, CA Hollywood Bowl
September - 11 Denver, CO Red Rocks Amphitheatre
September - 14 New York, NY Central Park Summer Stage
September - 15 Boston, MA Bank of America Pavilion

On October 16th, Side One Recordings will release Underworld’s Oblivion with Bells, the duo’s first studio album since 2002’s A Hundred Days Off.

True to form, Underworld tread their own path through modern electronic music – nodding to current trends but exhibiting an élan unmistakably their own. On Oblivion with Bells, the Underworld palette is richer than ever: epic techno nestles next to frail acoustics, beatific prose next to sharp, urban observation, amazing sound texturing mix with mobile phone recordings.

“It takes just a few seconds of gauzy synths for the kick drum to enter, followed by a minimal bass groove,” said Pitchfork of “Crocodile,” the album’s first single. “…the track spreads out like an evening on 90s-style intoxicants.” For the accompanying video, Underworld once again tapped Simon Taylor. (Like Underworld’s Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, Taylor is a founding member of the creative studio collective Tomato.)

Underworld will launch an extensive world tour on September 7th in San Francisco, CA, marking their first U.S. show since 2003. Live, the pair blend aural and visual elements into an unforgettable experience that more resembles a journey than a concert. “Billowing chords, brooding melodies, thumping beats and vocals that crooned in one song and jabbed in another were all juxtaposed in Underworld’s two-and-a-half hour set,” said The New York Times. “Mr. Hyde worked up the fans like a gospel singer.”

It’s been five years between studio albums, but Smith and Hyde haven’t exactly been idle. They have collaborated on a slew of projects including Underworld’s 1992-2002 anthology album, two major film scores (Anthony Mingellas’ Breaking and Entering and Danny Boyles’ 2007 Sunshine), a self-published typographic journal (In The Belly of Saint Paul), a series of pioneering digital-only releases, internet-radio broadcasts and a groundbreaking live web-tv broadcast and gig in partnership with Appleand Frankfurt’s techno giants Cocoon. All the while crafting the songs for Oblivion with Bells and gigging relentlessly around the world.

While Oblivion with Bells is Underworld’s fifth studio release, it is the debut album from the new Side One Recordings imprint. Distributed through RED, Side One Recordings is an offshoot of Red Light Management in conjunction with ATO Records.

“This is a landmark work from one of the seminal acts of the past decade, and we are thrilled that it will be the first release to carry the Side One Recordings imprint,” said Red Light Management/Side One Recordings’ Phil Costello.

The track listing for Oblivion with Bells is as follows:
1. Crocodile
2. Beautiful Burnout
3. Holding the Moth
4. To Heal
5. Ring Road
6. Glam Bucket
7. Boy, Boy, Boy
8. Cuddle Bunny vs. Celtic Villages
9. Faxed Invitation
10. Good Morning Cockerel
11. Best Mamgu Ever

Press on Panthers' latest, The Trick:
Though some of you might find Panthers austere or too "cool", facts are facts- these dudes lay it the fuck down. The Trick rocks with indisputable authority. - ALTERNATIVE PRESS

It's a rock qua rock record, with all the circular reasoning that entails: It rocks because it rocks; rocking is worth doing because rocking rocks; ad infinitum. -PITCHFORK

ŠBrooklyn's Panthers' pounce comes across as part-DFA 1979's overdriven lashing and part-Wolfmothers fried boogie. Toned down is the post-hardcore arrhythmia of earlier recordings, and dialed in is a Queens of the Stone Age-style skuzzy strut. -- XLR8R

CHIODOS Ready to Release *Bone Palace Ballet* on 9/4!

Equal Vision recording artists CHIODOS are primed up and ready to deliver Bone Palace Ballet, the follow-up to their critically and commercially-hailed debut All’s Well that Ends Well. Set for release on September 4, 2007, the new album takes Chiodos into new and uncharted territory, with a legion of fans following very close behind. Sales of their previous album have topped 170,000 and still continue to blow off shelves. Cocked and loaded, Bone Palace Ballet is gearing up to be bigger, better and even more spectacular.

Produced by Casey Bates (Fear Before the March of Flames, Gatsbys American Dream) and mixed by David Bendeth (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Paramore), this album takes off with the raw unrestrained power that marked All’s Well That Ends Well and harnesses it into a powerful behemoth of controlled and carefully orchestrated beauty. From the classically-manic piano/prog-rock stylings of the opening track “Is It Progression If A Cannibal Uses A Fork?” to the aggressive stutter-rock of “Bulls Make Money, Bears Make Money, Pigs Get Slaughtered” to Craig Owens’ drastic vocal jumps in “If I Cut My Hair, Hawaii Will Sink”, Bone Palace Ballet loses none of their earlier work’s diversity while retaining the very thread that makes Chiodos a force to be reckoned with.

Tracklisting for Bone Palace Ballet

1. Is It Progression If A Cannibal Uses A Fork?
2. Lexington. (Joey Pea-Pot With A Monkey Face)
3 - Bulls Make Money, Bears Make Money, Pigs Get Slaughtered
4. A Letter From Janelle
5. I Didn't Say I Was Powerful, I Said I Was A Wizard
6. Teeth The Size Of Piano Keys
7. Life Is A Perception Of Your Own Reality
8. If I Cut My Hair, Hawaii Will Sink
9. Intensity In Ten Cities
10. The Undertaker's Thirst For Revenge Is Unquenchable (The Final Battle)

Chiodos had a very media-heavy 2006 and first half of 2007, appearing in Blender, SPIN, New York Times, Billboard, and countless times in the pages of one of their biggest supporters, Alternative Press. While their powerful album turned heads a full 360 degrees, their incendiary live shows packed in the crowds and propelled the band into a live phenomenon. Currently headlining the 2007 Vans Warped Tour, the band will be announcing their own national headlining Fall tour shortly.

Bone Palace Ballet is slated for release September 4, 2007 on Equal Vision Records.

The Ramones "It's Alive 1974-1996" double DVD

THE ULTIMATE RAMONES

“It’s Alive 1974-1996” Features More Than Four Hours of Rare and Previously Unreleased Concert Performances From Around the World

Double-DVD Set Will Be Available October 2 From Rhino

Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, Tommy, Marky, Richie, and C-Jay – the Ramones will always be the first “family” of punk. Together more than 20 years, the Ramones inspired legions of followers as they refined their signature garage-flavored, ear-shattering, pop-skewed sound with a string of now-classic, loud-and-fast punk rock records and 2,263 concerts. Rhino sends you back to rock rock, rock ’n’ roll high school with a double-DVD that captures the essence of the Ramones’ legendary racket with more than four hours of rare and unreleased performances. IT’S ALIVE 1974-1996 will be available October 2 at regular retailers and online at www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $19.99.

More than four years in the making, Tommy Ramone served as music supervisor for this collection. Arranged chronologically over two DVDs, IT’S ALIVE 1974-1996 relives some of the band’s best performances with live footage of more than 100 songs, including “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker,” “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue,” “Beat On The Brat” and “I Wanna Be Sedated.” With more than four hours of impossible-to-find and unreleased live footage, this collection will make you feel like you’re standing in stale beer at CBGB shouting along with Dee Dee as he counts off, “One, two, three, four!”

The DVD also includes previously unreleased footage filmed on New Year’s Eve in 1977 during the band’s incendiary performance at The Rainbow Theatre in London. The entire concert was released in 1979 as the It’s Alive album, considered one of the best live records ever. The DVD features 14 songs in 5.1 Surround Sound taken from the show including “Pinhead,” “We’re A Happy Family,” and “Havana Affair.”

Nine performances recorded in 1982 at the US Festival in San Bernardino, CA are also featured here in 5.1 Surround Sound. The band fires off hit after hit, blazing through “The KKK Took My Baby Away,” “Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment,” and “Rock ’n’ Roll High School.” During the show, the band also covers “Chinese Rocks,” a song Dee Dee wrote, which was recorded by Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers.

Spanning the Ramones’ entire career, the DVD follows the band from its earliest performances at CBGB, to their last international performance in Argentina. IT’S ALIVE 1974-1996 travels around the world with the Ramones, capturing priceless performances in the U.K., Germany, Sweden, Spain, Argentina, Finland, Italy and the U.S. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, the band may be gone, but their sound and influence are indestructible.

DUCKDOWN RECORDS TO RELEASE EAGERLY-ANTICIPATED DEBUT FROM SPECIAL TEAMZ

Duck Down Records announces the eagerly-anticipated debut, Stereotypez, from Special Teamz.

While the Duck Down name, its history and artists are widely renowned and branded throughout the Hip-Hop landscape, the label is branching out to begin to distribute and promote artists from those outside the typical Boot Camp Clik artist structure and this change signifies a major transition in the label, as it becomes a home to develop and market artists of all flavors. The first such project of this transition will be Special Teamz (EDO. G’s collective group, which also consists of Slaine, Jaysaun, and DJ Jayceeoh) debut Stereotypez; which will be released on 9-25-07.

Genuinely considered the Godfather of Boston Hip-hop, EDO. G has crafted a handful of classics (“Be A Father To Your Child,” “I Got To Have It” and “Love Comes And Goes” among others) and in 1991 his "I Gotta Have it" hit number one on Billboard and the YO! MTV Raps countdown. His debut, Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto, sold over 600,000 units on the strength of Edo's flawless portraits of inequalities in Roxbury, and became his city's first and only rap artist to ever go gold. In the 15 years since, EDO’s dropped four heralded LPs and two EPs, toured the world extensively, and collaborated with the likes of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, KRS One, Common, Black Thought and Masta Ace.

Formerly the front-man for The Kreators, Jaysaun sold 10,000 copies of the Boston classic, Home, (featuring Guru, Big Shug, Akrobatik, Krumbsnatcha, and EDO. G), and was nominated for three Boston Music Awards, and even garnered significant MTV rotation. One of Boston's most respected wordsmiths, Jay has worked with Pete Rock, Cappadonna, and DJ Premier and has been an instrumental component in EDO’s recent solo releases.

The Southie gunner Slaine has become an overnight force! He dropped his infamous mixtape; The White Man is the Devil Volume 1 in 2005 and moved more than 7,000 units without any distribution. Recently he followed that up with its sequel Citizen Caine. Slaine's controversial tales of cocaine abuse, pharmacy robberies, violence, politics, racism, combined with his brutal imagery, have earned him the respect of collaborators such as Royce 5'9", Krumbsnatcha, Hatebreed, DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, B Real, Everlast, DJ Lethal and Ill Bill, the latter three of whom he moonlights with as La Coka Nostra.

For Special Teamz first collaborative effort, Stereotypez, the stakes are much higher. Boasting guest appearances from Devin The Dude, Sean Price, Buckshot, Ill Bill, Akrobatik and Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta as well as production from legendary producers DJ Premier and Pete Rock and rising beatmakers Marco Polo, Moss, Jake One and Xplicit. Special Teamz's Duck Down debut proves what their fanbase already knows: that no matter what preconceived notions people have about their city, Boston's top guns deliver some of the most socio-politically relevant boom-bap in recent memory. And while their rhymes are the sound of race lines being crossed and barriers being broken, it's really just the sound of rewind-worthy Hip-hop music, and that's all that really matters.

DROID NOW HEADLINING THE FAMILY VALUES SECOND STAGE!!! KORN’S JAMES “MUNKY” SHAFFER TO JOIN DROID AT ALL IN-PERSON SIGNINGS!!

California metal heads Droid have moved from opening the main stage at this year’s Family Values Tour to closing the Guitar Hero Second Stage. This will give fans a chance to get up close and personal with the heavy hitters from Long Beach.

Also, from now until the end of the tour, Korn’s James “Munky” Shaffer will be joining Droid at their signing booth. Shaffer is the founder of Emotional Syphon Recordings, the record label that released Droid’s self-titled debut CD in July. When fans buy Droid’s CD at the signing booths, they will also receive a free bonus DVD. The DVD is available only at signings and online when you order the album from Droid’s website, www.DROIDmusic.com.

Guitarist Jamie Teissere had this to say about the move: “Since they’ve pushed us back, we haven’t had a bad show. The energy is the way it should be! It’s a lot easier to let people know we’re going on later. We’re playing in front of twice as many people, all concentrated in one area, instead of all spread out in a 20,000-seat amphitheater. Now we’ve got huge mosh pits with tons of people crowd surfing. We’ve even had a couple dudes carried out with broken legs!”

On their self-titled Emotional Syphon Recordings debut, Droid embraces a bludgeoning aesthetic that pummels, punishes and pushes the boundaries of heavy metal. Their assault stems from a musical skeleton fused by rapid-fire riffs, wicked power grooves and a violent, hardcore crash.

Make sure to catch Droid as they headline the Guitar Hero Second Stage at all remaining Family Values dates, and don’t miss them at their signings where they will now be joined by Munky from Korn!

Sylvie spent the summer helping out. She donated three songs from Translations to a Greeting Card that was given to patients as part of the Help the Hospices UK campaign.

"Lewis, strong as both a jazz/folk singer and musician, creates an album that distinguishes itself as a diverse emblem of an extremely talented and original artist." - Amplifier

"Her music and lyrics hold a charming sophistication, but she also instills them with a liveliness that circumvents the tunes from turning stodgy and old-fashioned. Translations builds impressively upon her striking debut Tangos and Tantrums." - All Music.com

“If Lewis’s subjects are effectively variation on time worn themes – head-over-heels romance, lost love, dissolute partners and so on – her perspective is distinctly of the moment.” –Time Out New York

"...Sylvie Lewis delivers songs in a meandering style reminiscent of Rufus Wainwright, with a sweetly expressive voice... her piano-laden debut disc, Tangos &Tantrums, is filled with tales of lives and loves."- New York Post

"...potentially the Next Very Big Thing in the world of dulcet damsels who reign the radio: Sylvie Lewis." – PopMatters.com

"...Lewis lights a torch of love and longing on this set of ragtime, tangos and 1930s-inspired chanson... [songs] unfold with style and glamour." 3 out of 4 stars - Los Angeles Daily News

"…a breathtaking collection of romantic, 1930s-inspired cabaret chansons." - San Francisco Examiner

“When Sylvie Lewis sings, everyone should stop and take notice. She has the goods in spades...” - James Combs, Producer, new ground, KCRW

“Lewis captivates with clever situational lyrics and barroom musical sensibilities. Her compelling tunes turn seemingly personal explorations into universal truths"– FlavorPill, NYC

"The London-born chanteuse's wry, worldly twist on relationships springs from numbers styled in cabaret, jazz, ragtime and waltz, held together by her rapturous, dusky vocals." - Los Angeles Times

As a child, Sylvie was an eraser thief and got kicked out of South Hampstead Junior School for girls (aged 7) for thieving and
bad grades. On the long walk down a corridor lined with teachers all peering over spectacles, clicking their tongues and chewing on the ends of their red marking pens - a voice was heard... "Mrs Lewis! Mrs Lewis". To which Sylvie's dear, sweet mother thought, " Fuck it. I can't listen to any more nonsense I'm not going to turn around." The voice persisted and eventually a rather out of breath piano teacher caught up with Sylvie's mother and panted, "I just wanted to tell you...I'm very sorry Sylvie is leaving...and I think she is quite ...gifted musically...and I do hope she continues her studies in her next ...school." Mrs Lewis embraced Sylvie's piano teacher and left.

Sylvie was then enrolled in a school with a very strong music department where she got to wear red knickerbockers every day
and her mathematical skills continued to decline. She also took up the cello, joined the choir and went to study in Switzerland where she had the best porridge she's ever eaten. Upon her return, Sylvie purloined her grandfather’s old records and discovered a deep love of Oscar Peterson, Noel Coward and Harry Nilsson among others. Jazz obsession kicked in. Sylvie played gigs every Saturday at Harrods in London to make pocket money...and new friends. She studied opera back in the UK with Ian Adam...A-levels in French, Italian and English Lit blah crumby boys she dated snooze and onto the Berklee College of Music in Boston where she became obsessed with songwriting. She took up piano and guitar and quietly devoted herself to the study of legendary songwriters and dead poets for the next 4 years (gosh writing bios is tiring).

Upon graduation (she had to graduate or the INS wouldn’t give her a work visa) she moved to Los Angeles. Why? Well, her
family had already rented out her room back in London but also lots of her heroes spent time there: The Gershwins, Cole
Porter, Irving Berlin etc.

She thought she'd do music on the side, as it wasn't a realistic way to make a living so she taught for two years. One day in
the exhaustion that was her Friday afternoons, she read an article in the newspaper about the lowest paid jobs in America.
The #2 lowest paid job in the US was reportedly teaching. And the #1 lowest paid job was...musician. At that moment she
knew what she had to do. Go right for the top. So she quit teaching and became a full time musician.

She wrote lots of songs that weren't really any good at all...but here's the thing about music...if you keep going and humble
down and admit when you are wrong, you actually get better - amazing but true.

Sylvie moved to Spain at the end of 2005 to begin writing her new album and learn how to make a damn good sangria. Her
first album, “Tangos and Tantrums,” was produced by Sylvie and Richard Swift and was met with critical praise (I think her
record company wrote this phrase – it sounds pretty bidnissy to me). So she re-assembled the same team, and went into the
studio to record Translations in the summer of 2006… now wait a minute – they didn’t get back together for the praise if that’s what you’re thinking. Making a record is like travelling through Senegal: You go because you are looking for that beautiful music you have heard exists, you go seeking and hoping to stumble upon, you go because you’ll regret it one day if you don’t, you go because you are half crazy and half obsessed by the curiosity - there are a lot of wasteland moments, sometimes it’s so beautiful there’s nothing for it but to cry, you can get an upset tummy very easily and everyone keeps asking you for more money.

Her second album was written while Sylvie was living in Spain for a year in 2006. It’s really about how we translate ourselves
and other people everyday – even if we speak the same language – it ain’t easy Ma. Why, you ask, is there not a song in
Spanish on the album? Ah well, that’s simple – she didn’t want to make it that easy for you. When you listen to a foreigner
trying to speak English, as the listener, you have to work too you know. Sylvie now lives in Rome, Italy – she has no pets but
lots of rosemary and oregano. She recently took up accordion and hopes to be touring later this summer.

And you say, "Sylvie Lewis? Never heard of her!" But that's why someone who loves you very much has given you this bio to
read... because now, you have.

  Machine Head upcoming  tour news...

In an unfortunate turn of events, Machine Head bassist Adam Duce will miss this Fall's highly-anticipated Black Tyranny Tour in the U.S. due to a broken leg suffered while dirt biking in Redding, CA. Initially thought to be nothing more than a bad sprain, x-rays later confirmed the break, which required surgery to attach a steel plate and two screws to the broken bone.

A disappointed Duce laments, "It sucks to be in this position, because we have such a killer tour set up for the end of the summer and now we'll have to find a replacement for me. I've never missed one show that this band has ever played up to this point and I never thought I would see the day when Machine Head would be playing and I wouldn't be on stage."

The band are currently rehearsing with temporary bassist candidates and are in the final stages of selecting Duce's replacement, the details of which will be announced as soon as they are determined. All Black Tyranny dates in the U.S. will go on as scheduled, and Duce will be returning for the Australian and European legs of The Black Crusade Tour, beginning with the band's Loudpark date in Japan.

The Black Tyranny Tour promises night after pummeling night of power from some of metal's finest. From the first note to the last, The Black Tyranny Tour will be spoken of long after it crushes your town, so if there is one show this year that you can't afford to miss, this is it. Prepare, The Black Tyranny is coming your way!

"Heavy Metal in Baghdad" will premiere in the festival's documentary program, 'Real to Reel', as one of 20 of the "most explosive and thought provoking documentaries from the U.S. and around the world..."

In the late summer of 2006, as the insurgency escalated and gripped every corner of the city, filmmakers Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi traveled to the Red Zone in Baghdad to meet and interview the only heavy metal band in Iraq, Acrassicauda. "Heavy Metal in Baghdad" is the story of that band and its members, following them from their beginnings under the dying days of Sadaam's rule to the present day. The filmmakers have collected glimpses into the struggles of Acrassicauda as they try to stay together and stay alive. Their story is the untold story of the hopes and dreams of an entire generation of young Iraqis, young lives that have been distorted and displaced by years of continual warfare in their homeland.

Legendary crossover act M.O.D. signs with INDEX ENTERTAINMENT

Fronted by the charismatic and outspoken Billy Milano, M.O.D.'s new album "Red White & Screwed" finds the band returning to their roots of aggressive metal/hardcore merged with edgy social commentary. Milano and crew slam through tracks like "Balls On Bread", "Jose Can You See", "Alphabet City Stomp" and "The Big It". Produced by Tim Gerron at Music Lab, M.O.D.'s current lineup is completed by Scott Sargeant (Guitar, ex-Skinlab/Laaz Rockit), Derek "Lennon" Lopez (Drums) & Dawson Clawson (Bass). Milano had this to say about the new material: "Everyone keeps telling me this is the best record I've done since S.O.D.'s 'Speak English Or Die'...I guess not giving a shit about what people think or feel is finally working".

An Ecard with song samples and band information can be found at www.indexentertainment.com. "Red, White & Screwed" is scheduled for an October 9th release date.

Travis Mitchell Band album release set for September

Dallas-based quartet the Travis Mitchell Band is releasing their next album, “Waiting On Tomorrow,” on September 25th. The release will be preceded by a digital single featuring the tracks “I Don’t Mind” and “Ever Again,” which hits download portals on August 21st. Earlier this year, the band headed down to Gautier, Mississippi to record “Waiting On Tomorrow,” their sophomore record, with Grammy-nominated artist Chris Henderson of the rock band 3 Doors Down. The album, which Mitchell says is a “Nashville/Texas country mix,” was completed in a rather hectic 22 days of pre-production, writing and recording. “I feel like this is the first time I’ve found my voice and my sound,” says Mitchell. And that sound is quite versatile, as evidenced by the mix of honky-tonk, ballads, and rock-infused alt-country peppering the new album. “Working with Chris Henderson was brilliant,” Mitchell continues. “I loved it. He was very real, and he let everyone express their ideas. We all worked really well together, and that helped some amazing ideas come out.”

"What struck me about Travis' music was not just that it was Texas country, which I have a soft spot for, but that it's a little more rocking and it takes you by surprise," Henderson told the Dallas Morning News. "You really don't know where it will go. I heard his record and liked it and then I went to see him live and that sealed the deal. ... I was thoroughly impressed." He elaborates by saying, “Travis's music is fresh and exciting. He brings a new element to the country music scene. It’s like country music on steroids.” In addition to manning the production helm on “Waiting On Tomorrow,” Henderson also contributed by co-writing two songs on the album, “She’s That Kind Of Girl” and “Ever Again.”

In just over a year, the Travis Mitchell Band signed a record deal with Rock Ridge Music and toured with almost every major headliner on the Texas Country circuit including Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers, Jack Ingram, Cory Morrow, and many more. In June 2006, they released a 3-song digi sampler, which paved the way for the release of their first album, Forget What’s Wrong,” in September 2006 (which the Dallas Morning News called “a disc full of potential… Touches of roots and classic rock dart in and out of the Texas roadhouse country style.”). Mitchell was also part of Lynyrd's Skynyrd's "Gimme 3 Days" cruise, which sailed from January 5th-8th, 2007 to the Bahamas.

Mitchell and his band have been touring extensively in Texas and plan to continue their live performances further afield leading up and in support of “Waiting On Tomorrow.”
