MY BROTHER THE WIND: Third Album From Swedish Cosmic Instrumental Act Now Playing At The Sleeping Shaman

Once There Was A Time When Time And Space Were One, the expansive, fully-analog, third full-length opus from Swedish instrumental act, MY BROTHER THE WIND, is now playing at The Sleeping Shaman in celebration of its official release this week.

MY BROTHER THE WIND is a fully improvisational cosmic rock collective consisting of members of widely known Swedish acts Makajodama, Magnolia, Animal Daydream and most notably Anekdoten, one of the more widely recognized names in the 1990s prog rock revival. Released by Laser's Edge instrumental music sector, Free Electric Sound, Once There Was A Time When Time And Space Were One transports the listener to another plane of existence, the record emitting forty-five minutes of completely natural, organic, cosmic jams. Engineered by Love Tholin at Drop Out Analogue in the Winter mountains of Åmål, Sweden, MY BROTHER THE WIND's organic sound is not captured simply through their recording practices and equipment, it all comes together naturally and progresses as a living being, completely improvised on the spot, recorded directly to two-inch tape on a circa 1969 sixteen-track Ampex in one day, then mastered by Hans Fredriksson. Fans of Popol Vuh, Amon Duul, Sun Ra, Träd, Gräs Och Stenar, Albert Ayler, Ash Ra Tempel, Gong, Pink Floyd and other visionary, psychedelic rock artists should not hesitate in exploring this record.

Exploratory rock/metal webzine, The Sleeping Shaman, is now hosting a stream of the entire Once There Was A Time When Time And Space Were One LP now at THIS LOCATION.

Stand by for new live performances from MY BROTHER THE WIND to be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, review copies of their latest opus and interviews with the band are available.

"...the album offers an immersive, resonant listen, with tonal richness to spare and the presence of mind to keep a sense of motion even in its stillest parts and a balance of organic elements... This attention to sonic detail makes Once There was a Time When Time and Space were One more than just a collection of jams, and adds further purpose to the already worthy cause of My Brother the Wind's thoughtful musings, wandering and not at all lost." - The Obelisk

"Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Once There Was A Time When Time And Space Were One. It's an intoxicating album, with gorgeous soundscapes that literally can take your breath away. The haunting Mellotron of "Epilogue" is one of the most gorgeous passages you'll hear on a prog album this year, but in truth it's just one of many captivating parts of this wonderful album. Highest recommendations here! 5/5" - Sea Of Tranquility

"Swedish improvisational instrumental rockers My Brother the Wind deliver their most cohesive work to date with Once There Was a Time When Time and Space Were One, an album of soaring and exotic psychedelic space jams that flirt with ambient music and Kraut Rock along the way. 4/5" - About.com

French Horn Rebellion start national co-headline tour w Zak Waters ahead of FHR's Next Jack Swing Pt 1 album release 11/4

new: FRENCH HORN REBELLION "Last Summer Mixtape" stream/download HERE

"French horn is hard to play. Making hot beats is fun. Let’s make a band."
Love Is Dangerous in the big, bad city where late nights always bring out swingers on party patrol, hipster suits in dark alleys, beat-boxers at street corners and Poster Girls with Broken Hearts. It's Friday Night, baby and French Horn Rebellion's dance card is Void and Fancy Free.
FHR is Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, two Brooklyn-based brothers born and bred in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2007, while hanging on a heartstring and daydreaming of Beaches and Friends, Robert had been playing French horn in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, got restless and decided to turn all attention to making dance music. After informing his conductor that Mahler isn’t fun anymore, Robert asked bassoon- toting older brother, David, to share this epiphany of self-emancipation. Our sordid tale of French Horn Rebellion's mission to deliver NextJackSwingto The Body Electric begins here.
Explains Robert, "We were trying to think of a way to engage kids who play in orchestra or band, and say, 'Hey. You guys can have fun too and this is how you do it.’ That's when the wheels started turning - we could make music the way we want to, and it’s OK."
David offers, "We realized that we had the power to create something of our own. The rebellion was about accepting wholeheartedly the uniqueness of who we are and using that as a driving force. We had to rebel against the status quo and focus on what drove us internally."
These self-proclaimed band geeks gone wild (BGGW) are often Up All Night crafting witty, hook-laden grooves, making reverent noise or Dancing Out on tour with a program of disco-etched lights, hi-octane special guests and a keg full of party-starter anthems. It's the French Horn Rebellion creed. "Could we really be having This Moment?" The answer is an explosive and resounding "Hell, Yeah!" FHR effortlessly weave between the seams of buzzy indie dance, electro, funk and psychedelia through to visceral new wave, rock and ambitious pop. David and Robert's sly productions, smart songs and giddy live shows manage to infuse their devoted disciples with a compulsive and joyous energy.
As FHR's resident pied piper, Robert concedes this bit of affable insight, "I play French horn really, really loud. That's the number one thing - live and loud! We're running around and ripping off Jimi Hendrix solos on French horn. It’s the equivalent of a pizza party in band class with Teddy Riley on the jukebox."
David's practical wisdom believes "Our rebellion is about getting the true, everyday meaning of being alive and forcing the bull-s**t out!"
French Horn Rebellion fan favorites like "Girls," "Caaalifornia," "Last Summer," "Johnny Smash," "Swing Into It" or the band's inspired cover of The Human League's perennial classic, "Don't You Want Me" continue to cement their NextJackSwing global takeover aspirations in the studio and on the road.
“Next Jack Swing is a genre we’ve created from the ‘New Jack Swing’ or ‘Swing Beat’ tradition of the late 80’s and early 90s, but using today’s technology to make the beats heavier, with funkier bass lines, and of course, putting in our own flair..." begins Robert with a knowing, mischievous tone. David finishes the missive, "...It's New Jack's kid brother seasoned by sweaty, basement dance-rages of eternal groove. It exposes everything we love about dance music!"
Over the years, French Horn Rebellion's emotive pop singles, illustrious dance e.p.'s, well-tailored remixes and an acclaimed album debut, "The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion" have received high praise, acclaim and obsession by such media hubs as: The Huffington Post, Billboard, BBC Radio 1, Entertainment Weekly, Jay Z's Life & Times, Interview Magazine, Spotify, Rolling Stone, VIBE, The Guardian, Bust, Mashable, Thissongissick, NY Daily News, VEVO, Q Magazine and Time Out. Additionally, FHR have had 10 self-released singles and mixes storm the top of the influential Hype Machine chart.
With their new record label, Ensemble Records enjoying a glorious bow this Summer introducing Slaptop's smash "Sunrise" (in conjunction with +1 Records) and a busy Williamsburg-based production compound and studio,YouTooCanWoo, churning out the hits, The Perlick-Molinari brothers of French Horn Rebellion are living their D.I.Y. manifesto to the fullest, noting the best is yet to come. It's clear that the group's engaging performer, A&R chief and French Horn-toting label honcho, Robert - partnered with David, the introspective studio geek, world domination enthusiast and production perfectionist, are gearing up for an international rebel party coup. FHR know You're All Right and want to assist with a bit of exclusive party intel.
David knowingly states, "A way the world can feel worthwhile is for its individuals to lead the charge. We are all worth the time and energy. This dance party is where we celebrate!"
Robert breaks it down even further, "I equate orchestra players with middle-class workers. You play the music on the page, listen to the conductor and go home. And I think orchestra players aren't appreciated, much like today's working man. That's why it's a rebellion: working guys, rebel!”

Ugly Kids Club debut "Head Games" video on Idolator + playing CMJ 10/25

"rock-tinged, fiercely catchy electronic pop"
Idolator

Ugly Kids Club is made up of bright, yet haunting vocalist, Aliegh Shields, and Grammy-nominated rock producer, Steve Wilson. Experimenting with all the little sounds they love, from whimsical soundscapes to lush 80s synths, the Nashville-based duo crafts electro-pop driven tunes for ultimate enjoyment. Think pop-grunge band formed by Madonna, Andy Warhol and M83.
Stream Head Games via PopMatters
"Fans of Chvrches should give a listen to the new EP by Nashville's Ugly Kids Club."
The pair formed in 2011 over their love for minimalist rock duos like Sleigh Bells, Crystal Castles and The Kills. At the time, Steve was producing projects such as The Juliana Theory and Jonezetta, while writing, producing and playing in his own bands, The Class of ‘98 (The Militia Group) and Hether (Interscope Records). Aliegh, who was fresh out of high school and new to Nashville, was a guitar playing songstress with a solo development deal of her own. Already acquainted through Aliegh’s brother, Wilson came on to produce her solo tracks. In no time at all, the two uncovered a mutual desire to form a band and switched gears to create Ugly Kids Club. They were able to grab ahold of their own sound that encompassed a move toward the electronic pop genre while still paying tribute to their rock influences.
Ugly Kids Club’s self-titled debut EP earned them recognition in over 50 music blogs, a Hot 100 Band in Music Connection Magazine and spins on Sirius XM U radio. After a slew of shows with bands like Five Knives, Tesla Rossa, and Coin, Ugly Kids Club set their focus on a new set of songs with their recently releasedHead Games EP.

ATRIARCH: Atmospheric Death/Doom Conjurers Unleash New Psalm Of Sickness At Noisey; An Unending Pathway Release Day Looms

An Unending Pathway is the forthcoming new full-length from Pacific Northwest death/doom conjurors, ATRIARCH. A living entity comprised of four parts, together the mesmerizing collective summon forth haunting atmospheres and droning avalanches of ritualistic sludge, offering catharsis through sonic ritual. Merging death rock, doom, black metal, post punk and psychedelic drone/noise,ATRIARCH stand among one of the most creative and compelling heavy music bands of the twenty-first century.

In celebration of An Unending Pathway's imminent unveiling, today the gate keepers at Vice Magazine's music portal, Noisey, offer up fourth movement "Bereavement" for public consumption.
Relays Noisey: "On this new record, the Portland quartet harness the crippling power of doom and hold it tight in death's cold embrace, leaning hard towards moody gothic horror and injecting spare moments of black metal possession and glimmers of psychedelia. There's a lurching, ritualistic feel to the proceedings, and a dire hopelessness in the vocals that doesn't let up for a moment. It's death rock that OD's on death. Knob-twiddler extraordinaire Billy Anderson has his feather-light fingertips all over this one, coaxing each element into its full potential even as he weaves it all together into a thoroughly crushing force. The end result is as dark and eerily atmospheric as an abandoned graveyard at midnight."

Drink the punch to the echoing, soul-wrenching sounds of "Bereavement"
at THIS LOCATION.

You can also experience the cold audio decay of "Allfather" still streaming at Cvlt Nation atTHIS LOCATION as well as the the haunting resonance of "Collapse" HERE.

Tracked at Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon, produced by Billy Anderson (Sleep, Eyehategod, Melvins et al) and the band, engine-eared and mixed by Anderson at Everything Hz, also in Portland, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Beastmilk, Nails) at Audiosiege, An Unending Pathway offers up seven cataclysmic soundscapes to your deepest darkest hallucinations. Cvlt Nation commends the outfit's, "arresting and welcome combination of doom metal, death rock, black metal, and Mid Eastern-influenced darkwave sound," while Sea Of Tranquility gushes, "An Unending Pathway is so out there at times that it's almost puzzling. For some, this melting pot of sounds, mixed with the frightening tone of much of the album, is going to be very unsettling...ATRIARCHhave to be given credit for trying something totally different, injecting a breath of fresh air into the extreme metal genre." Adds MetalStorm, in an 8.5/10 review, "An Unending Pathway is quite likelyATRIARCH's best album to date. If the third album of a band's discography is typically held as the 'make it or break it.' point, these guys not only break through the wall, they pummel it into dust."

ATRIARCH will bring their ceremonials to the stage this November on a West Coast run of live performances. Slated to commence November 7th in Seattle, the band will traumatize thirteen cities through November 21st. See confirmed shows below.

First Band in Space! Tiny Moving Parts Use Weather Balloon, Bobbleheads & GoPro to Go to Space in New Video, Tour Starts This Week

"On August 13th from our home in Benson, MN, we sent three bobble heads replicas of ourselves into space using a 600 gram weather balloon," explains singer/guitarist Dylan Matthiesen of Tiny Moving Parts. "The 2 hour flight was captured by a GoPro camera enclosed in a styrofoam cooler alongside a GPS tracker and a stack of heat packs to help brave the -60 degree F (-15 C) temperatures. The spacecraft reached a height of over 80,000 ft (24,384 meters), capturing the Earth's curve and the beauty of a world just beyond our grasp."  The band has paired the phenomenal footage they collected with the track "Entrances & Exits" from their sophomore full-length Pleasant Living, recently released on Triple Crown Records.

"About 2 hours into its journey, the GPS stopped sending us signals, " continued Dylan. "We drove all over the farmlands of Minnesota with the slim hopes of it turning up somewhere. Eventually, we gave up and lost hope. It wasn't until October 10th, almost 2 months later, that we received a call from a farmer, our new friend Kurt, almost 50 miles away who found the pack while combing through his bean farm."

Tiny Moving Parts consists of guitarist/vocalist Dylan Mattheisen and his cousins, brothers Billy Chevalier (drums) and Matt Chevalier (bass/vocals). Over the past two years of non-stop touring, they've quickly gained attention for their complex musicianship, outstanding songs, frenzied live sets, and Dylan's nonstop, irrepressible grin. When you hear about a band coming out of nowhere, it's a sure bet that very few of them mean it in the way that these guys do. Hailing from the tiny town of Benson, which boasts a population of just 3,000 people, they have plenty of practice making their own fun - and it's quite apparent on their sophomore record, Pleasant Living. Recorded by J. Robbins at his Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, Pleasant Living shows a band that has matured, boasting sing-alongs alongside thought-out, complex instrumentals.  The album is currently available for purchase via the Triple Crown Records site.

Their debut album This Couch Is Long and Full of Friendship was released in 2013 via Kind of Like Records and Black Numbers.  Tiny Moving Parts will embark on a North American tour this fall with Dads, Nai Harvest and Choir Vandals, including an appearance at The Fest 13 (all current tour dates below).

Young Ejecta's The Planet was born from electronic minimalism, euro disco, and 70s pop
balladry.

Enhancing the sense of simplicity and exaggerating the mayhem, Joel Ford was very strict this time around. The limitations he imposed, when pushed to breaking, bend beautifully against the melodic and dramatic moments, throughout.

Lyrically, The Planet is a more manic depressive take on the universal themes (love, loss, and death) previously explored on Dominae. There is brighter hope and deeper despair; somehow, its more personal. In certain moments, The Planet
is decadent, shameless and self-involved, and at others, extremely sparse and omniscient.

The Planet will be released by Driftless Recordings on January 27, 2015.
