Uh-oh, someone surely made a mistake. The boys of Parquet Courts have been given a national stage to perform on tonight, and you had better believe that they'll take this opportunity to use every inch of that stage to flail, shake, and weave their way through one of numbers off their wildly lauded debut LP, Light Up Gold (2013, What's Your Rupture?). That's right, Parquet Courts (aka Parkay Quarts, aka Radiohead, um, wait...) will be appearing tonight, Thursday, January 9th, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!
The band has received an incredible amount of praise for Light Up Gold, including being named Rolling Stone's #11 Album of the Year, and "Stoned and Starving" their #6 Song of the Year. Featured on year-end lists from Pitchfork to Paste to the Associated Press toNPR Music to the Los Angeles Times to the Chicago Tribune, and many, many more, it was only a matter of time before the band was offered the opportunity to make the jump to the small screen. Next up: feature films?
Also, Parquet Courts will be embarking on a little west coast swing before heading down-under for the Laneway Festival. Tickets are still available for many of these shows, so don't miss out! See the poster Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage made for their two dates withWhite Fence.
