WOLFBRIGADE: New Track Streaming Via Blow The Scene

Today, humanity will feel WOLFBRIGADE's wrath once again, as another track from the Swedish crust icons' forthcoming LP Damned infects the world wide web. Courtesy of the diehards at Blow The Scene -- who instinctively conducted a massive interview with the 'BRIGADE back in January when the pack's cooperation with Southern Lord was announced -- now behold the opening track from Damned.

As loud as your system will allow, stream "Feed The Flames" RIGHT HERE.

The LP's closing track, "Peace Of Mind," is also still streaming at the Southern Lord website.

The first of three WOLFBRIGADE albums to be released via Southern Lord, Damned is set for North America on April 24th. The 35-minute album was recorded at renowned Gothenburg-based Studio Fredman by Frederik Nordstrom (At The Gates, Amon Amarth, Opeth) and shows the band at their finest and most devastating hour in their storied lineage.

REPTAR'S "ORIFICE ORIGAMI" CURRENTLY PREMIERING AT RCRD LBL

BAND UNLEASH NEW ALBUM TRAILER FOR
BODY FAUCET AND ANNOUNCE HOMETOWN RECORD- RELEASE SHOW IN ATHENS, GA AT 40 WATT ON MAY 4TH

Los Angeles, CA - March 29, 2012 - "Orifice Origami", the second offering from Reptar's forthcoming full-length debut release Body Faucet is currently premiering at RCRD LBL. The track further showcases the band's knack for creating infectious dance-drive electro melodies. "The song is about exploring the possibilities of our physical and social forms. How do we place limitations on where our bodies and minds can take us?" said the band of the song.

Today the band also released a new album trailer for Body Facuet (see below). Body Faucet will be released on May 1st via Vagrant Records. Produced by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, Washed Out),Body Faucet is the follow-up to the group's heralded debut EP Oblangle Fizz Y'all, which Rolling Stone praised for its, "...blend of upbeat rhythms, reggae-infected vocals and psychedelic textures." In celebration of the release the band will play a hometown show in Athens, GA on May 4th at 40 Watt (tickets on-sale tomorrow).

Reptar has been on the road for the majority of 2012 and will continue to play through the coming months, including May and June support dates with Grouplove. At the recent South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas the band played an ambitious 13 shows over the course of just five days.

Body Faucet finds the band delving deeper into world-music influences to compliment their unique blend of danceable and electro infused pop. As put by Spin Magazine, "Their playful electro-pop channels MGMT's debut-album psychedelic-yet-ready-for-the-masses sheen, and their rambunctious antics recall the Black Lip's punk bravado."

Hailing from Athens, GA, Reptar began playing music in late 2008. Since then, the boisterous quartet has gained a reputation for their riotous, must-see live show. Paste Magazine declared, "These Southern-fried electronic Afro-poppers are known for the sticky dance riots of their live shows." Reptar likes to first and foremost make people dance, and have been likened to The Talking Heads, Animal Collective, Prince, and The Jackson 5.

In addition to the spectacle of their live show, Reptar are also known for their intimate house party performances. In true DIY spirit, the band has played countless shows in cramped living rooms and backyards around the country.

Reptar is Graham Ulicny (Vocals, Guitar), Andrew McFarland (Drums), Ryan Engelberger (Bass), and William Kennedy (Synth, Keys).

FEAR FACTORY: The Industrialist Artwork And Track Listing Revealed Additional May Tour Days Confirmed

FEAR FACTORY today reveals cover and package details for their forthcoming new album, The Industrialist. Set for North American release on June 5, The Industrialist is a conceptual record based around a story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell. Lyrics to the album’s ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell with Decibel Magazine. The album’s artwork was created by American designer Anthony Clarkson with additional direction from the band. The album will be available on three formats – standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl.

Bell notes, “the protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”

The Industrialist again pairs FEAR FACTORY with producer Rhys Fulber. Mixed by Greg Reely (Paradise Lost/Skinny Puppy), with additional tracking by Logan Mader (Gojira/Divine Heresy), the album is the second written by Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven year split. Cazares says, “collaborating with Burton again on the new album was like magic. Everything just fell into place naturally. It felt good to recapture the true sound of FEAR FACTORY, taking it back to where it all started while raising it to new levels.” Regarding Fulber Cazares notes, “Rhys has been our secret member,” shares Cazares. “He is the one producer who has been able to understand what we have been trying to accomplish from the beginning and has opened our eyes to new things without sacrificing our original sound. His production and keyboard talents has made FEAR FACTORY stand out amongst the many bands of our genre.”

The Industrialist follows the 2010 release of Mechanize. Widely regarded, the album was the first release from FEAR FACTORY in six years. Mechanize debuted on Billboard’s Top 100 album chart week of release and topped CMJ’s Loud Rock radio chart as programmers embraced the band’s triumphant return. Sirus XM and Headbangers Ball’s host Jose Mangin noted, “after Mechanize dominated 2010 as Liquid Metal’s Album Of The Year, North America is chompin’ at the bit to get an ear full of new FEAR FACTORY. I have no doubt that FEAR FACTORY are going to kick our collective asses in 2012.”

DARK EMPIRE- New Album Streaming on Guitar World.com

From Refuge to Ruin Available Today on Nightmare Records

Today sees the release of the new album from DARK EMPIRE entitled From Refuge to Ruin. In celebration of the album's release DARK EMPIRE has partnered up with GuitarWorld.com the online home of Guitar World Magazine for an exclusive full album stream.

From Refuge to Ruin is available to purchase on Amazon.

New Jersey's DARK EMPIRE return to the scene with their third release, this March entitledFrom Refuge to Ruin. Fusing elements of extreme and classic metal, 70's prog rock, and poetic, meaningful lyrics, DARK EMPIRE bring forth a tremendously successful amalgam that is refreshingly unique as well as raw and aggressive.

Lead guitarist and songwriter Matt Moliti and vocalist Brian Larkin have posted the second in a series of videos going through the album track by track. In the videos, Matt and Brian talk about the song writing process, the bands influences for each track and much more. Today's installment covers the songs: "Dark Seeds of Depravity", "From Refuge to Ruin", and "Lest Ye Be Judged".

The first video covers the first three songs on From Refuge to Ruin: "A Plague in the Throne Room", "Dreaming in Vengeance" and "The Crimson Portrait".

The first official digital single release from From Refuge to Ruin is now available for purchase. The track entitled "A Plague in the Throne Room" is available exclusively on iTunes. The single features special artwork designed by acclaimed artist Gustavo Sazez known for his work with Arch Enemy, God Forbid and Morbid Angel amongst others.

Dominating through the intricate songwriting are powerful new vocalist Brian Larkin (who replaces Jens Carlsson of Persuader and Savage Circus fame) and the commanding riffs of lead guitarist/main songwriter Matt Moliti, who also lends a chilling death vocal counterpoint to Larkin's leather-throated melodic lines. In addition to Moliti's elaborate guitar work and Larkin's attention- grabbing vocals, DARK EMPIRE features the deep resonance of bassist Randy Knecht and the "Dave Lombardo-meets-Gavin Harrison" drumming of session player Matt Graff.

Not being ones to repeat themselves, DARK EMPIRE has injected fresh new influences into their follow up to their 2008 release "Humanity Dethroned". Taking a cue from 70's prog masters such as Genesis and King Crimson, Dark Empire inventively utilize vintage Mellotron and Hammond Organ samples throughout the album, as well as delicate 12-string acoustic interludes and haunting, atmospheric melodies (coming to full fruition in the powerfully epic title track). This is not to undermine the push DARK EMPIRE has also made in the heavier end of the dynamic spectrum, now utilizing seven-string guitars, crushing doom metal moments, and blistering death metal-inspired riffs. For older fans, these new elements serve to compliment, not overshadow, the band's thrashy progressive metal roots, and the 13-minute-plus dark and doomy album closer "The Cleansing Fires" serves as a musical culmination of the broadened range of styles found throughout.

With pristine and powerful production from Jeremy Krull and artwork by Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy, Firewind, Morbid Angel) along with fresh creative input and exceptional talent, DARK EMPIRE will surely become the new cross-over favorite for any metal fan.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION Cracks Billboard Heatseekers And Hard Music Charts

Following the North American release of SPAWN OF POSSESSION's anticipated third album, Incurso, last week, the Swedish technical death metal horde's latest work cracked the Billboard charts! The blistering record landed at #63 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and also came in at #62 on the Hard Music Chart in its first week, leaving weaker metal records smoldering in its wake!

Featuring current and former members of Necrophagist and Obscura, Incurso is the first album to be unleashed by SPAWN OF POSSESSION in over five years, and the band's first for Relapse Records. Already being perceived as one of the most acclaimed extreme releases of 2012 by international metal media outlets, the mind-boggling high-speed attack of Incurso remains as epic and smooth-flowing as it is technically brilliant and unabashedly heavier than hell over the entire course of its near hour-long lifespan, and is unarguably the most professional recording in the heralded Swedish outfit's ongoing lineage. The entire album is still streaming via MetalSucks, RIGHT HERE.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION's first full tour assault in support of Incurso has been underway for two weeks today, with another two weeks of brutality for the European people to be had. Stay tuned for tour updates and much more on SOP throughout the rest of the year.

FATHER MURPHY Anyway, your children will deny it
Mixed by Greg Saunier of Deerhoof

After excellent reviews and endless touring all over the world, supporting bands like Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu and Sic Alps, the Italian weirdos Father Murphy are back with a brand new album titled “Anyway your children will deny it”.  It is the latest, boldest installation of an ongoing series of albums investigating the band’s favorite themes: life, death, love, religion and even more death.

For this album, the Italian trio comprised of Reverend Freddie (vocals, guitar), Chiara Lee (vocals, keyboards, percussion) and Vittorio De Marin (vocals, drums, strings), took some time to craft and expand their sonic palette to almost epic proportions, unleashing an LP that is their most personal, sophisticated and—dare I say—accessible work to date.

The opener “How we ended up with feeling of Guilt” sets the tone with a distant rumble of crashing waves, introducing the desolate chanting of Reverend Freddie. Father Murphy’s amalgamation of noise and pop instincts collide with echoes of Henry Cow, Jacula and far-out contemporary classical music. “It is funny, it is restful. Both came quickly” is another sonic surprise. It’s Father Murphy at their most black metal-ish—a fuzzy aural slab reeking of fury and desperation. “In praise of our doubts” continues with big, menacing orchestral stabs and tortured vocals.

But it is not all madness and desolation in Father Murphyland. The last two tracks are the band’s most hopeful moments. “In the flood, with the flood” tackles celestial drones and ecstatic buzz while the closer “Don't let yourself be hurt this time” is a subdued call-to-arms, a hymn to personal responsibility sung and performed with a ‘Young Marble Giants simplicity.’

Recorded by the band and mixed by Greg Saunier of Deerhoof (who added an extra beautifully psychedelic shade to the songs), “Anyway, your children will deny it” is the group’s definitive album: dark, uncompromising, yet still open to the future and its possibilities.

Tracklisting
1. How we ended up with feelings of guilt
2. His face showed no distortions
3. It is funny it is rest both came quickly
4. Digging the bottom of the hollow
5. In praise of our doubts
6. Their consciousness
7. In the flood with the flood
8. Don't let yourself be hurt

KELVOX1 Grazed Red
Listen to "Hanged Man"

Kelvox1 are a three-piece group from Cambridge, UK who use synths, sampler, voice, guitar, bass and other useful objects that happen to be at hand. Over the past year and a half they have played with bands including Gary War, Braids and Conquering Animal Sound.

A Kelvox1 recording is as much an exploration or an account of the location it is recorded in as it is a document of a song. The texture of the space is only revealed by the sounds produced in it, which are like matches being lit in a darkened room. In these circumstances, the band relinquishes mastery over the sounds they record, they can only use their equipment to harness and perhaps direct the properties of the environment. The lack of complete control is the condition of being in this world; what emerges is an expression of the group's attempt to create something meaningful within it.

In 'Grazed Red' there is also an idea that songs themselves are environments to be inhabited, by both the band and the listener.

'Grazed Red' is Kelvox1's first physical release.

Tracklisting
1. Hanged Man
2. Stephen-Grazed Red

People have said:

“Cambridge seems to be quite the unlikely hive of outsider musical activity right now, what with the hauntological techno of Nochexxx and his gang. Elsewhere on the Cambridge fringe, we have Kelvox1 – absolutely the finest new British post-rock band this here blog has heard in quite a few years.
This sense of organically expanded song-form immediately brings to mind Bark Psychosis’s classic 'Scum' single. Kelvox1 certainly have the slow-burning moodiness to justify that comparison but nothing here is quite as dank and nocturnal as 'Scum'. That is to say, the arrangements are colourful and vivid, in a fashion that recalls the electronically-enhanced-chaos-in-a-jam-room ambiance of Disco Inferno’s DI Go Pop. The sullen vocals certainly add to this.
Obviously, these comparisons put Kelvox1 very much in the UK post-rock continuum. However, where other bands with the same influences (Epic45 and Hood spring to mind) don’t really add much to the mix, Kelvox1 clearly have their own thing going on.” Bubblegum Cage III

"Post-everything, their sound brings to mind instrumental dubstep visionaries Mount Kimbie, as well as the dark, expansive spaces created by the likes of Zola Jesus." We Like Wildlife

“Haunted underwater glitchstep from Cambridge. Burial meets David Lynch meets “Let’s Dance” meets Sega Megadrive.” Crushing Death and Grief

CANNIBAL CORPSE released their twelfth slab of audio obliteration to North American fans on March 13, 2012 via Metal Blade Records. Listed among Decibel Magazine’s “Top 25 Most Anticipated Extreme Records Of 2012,” and crowned “pure death metal mastery from one of the best bands the genre has ever produced…,” in an early review by Zero Tolerance Magazine, the aptly titled Torture was produced by Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the goretorn cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke.

EXHUMED continue to decimate eardrums with their All Guts, No Glory full-length, issued last year via Relapse Records. Noted Decibel magazine of the release: “Everything seems more fluid and powerful, though as vicious as it all is, the focus remains on the composition and how it smacks the listener between the eyes.” Added Revolver: “… fans of dripping blood, gaping autopsies, and ravenous zombies will absolutely adore this record.” Metal Underground praised the band saying, “EXHUMED are back, hungry, vicious, and unrelenting,” while Brave Words championed the band: “EXHUMED has aged like corpse putrefaction: that is indeed the highest compliment you can pay to one of 2011’s best records.” To stream All Guts, No Glory in full visit:http://www.exhumed.bandcamp.com.

The album brings together a dozen artists, each lending their distinctive sound. Chancha with his signature percussive style, Super Guachin with their 8 bit cumbia bass, Tremor’s glitchy futuristic take on Andean foklore and so on.

"ZZK is the first label to push the sound of Argentina from the villa (ghettos) to the uptown”, says Diplo, “ZZK is a big part in bringing this to the attention of the people.”

Much like what Detroit was to techno and Kingston was to dub and reggae, Buenos Aires is quickly becoming the focal point for this Latin American cultural movement.Future Sounds of Buenos Aires is the defining work of the new movement.

What makes this album interesting is that all of the artists are influenced by the combination of rural, traditional cumbia and folkloric roots mixed with a contemporary street-inspired sounds. The results offer twelve different interpretations of the past blended with the future.

1. Frikstailers “Guacha”
2. Tremor “Malambo”
3. Mati Zundel “Señor Montecostez”
4. Daleduro “La Poli”
5. Fauna “Hongo x Hongo”
6. The Peronists “Mi Llegada Tu Llegada Nuestro Descanso”
7. Super Guachin “Se Pixelo el Vinito”
8. La Yegros “Viene de Mi”
9. Chancha Via Circuito “Prima”
10. El Remolon “Atras” (featuring Lido Pimienta)
11. El Trip Selector “Coombia del Piano Triste”
12. King Coya “Cumbiatron”

ANDREW JOHNSTON PREMIERES DEBUT VIDEO FOR “SOMETHING YOU ALREADY KNOW” ON RELIX!

*WATCH ANDREW JOHNSTON’s
“SOMETHING YOU ALREADY KNOW*

This week ANDREW JOHNSTON is making waves with a stellar video premiere on RELIX for “Something You Already Know;” the first single off of his debut album, The Wake of the Wonder Years. The stunning black and white video takes you on a journey, led by Johnston, in Montreal.  Directed / Edited by Derek Dugas and co-Director Mike Paterson, the heartfelt video was shot over a freezing cold February weekend, with great friends in tow.

ANDREW JOHNSTON says about the piece:

"The Something You Already Know,” video showcases a side of Montreal that most tourists and people that idealize the Montreal cultural scene aren't necessarily exposed to.  In the video you can see the crumbling infrastructure, wide spread condo development, and bumper-to-bumper traffic that characterize the Montreal I know.  The song is about the work a day world many of us inhabit and our efforts to remain hopeful in the face of our daily routine. Incidentally, the footage was shot near my place of work, and features many of the landmarks that make up my daily experience."

"Something You Already Know," is an infectious track that will leave you wanting more of what ANDREW JOHNSTON has to offer. With carefully strummed guitars starting off the track, as a strong piano makes an entrance, the song picks up with perfect harmonies, which is a little reminiscent of Sloan’s Between the Bridges. Take a peek at this gorgeous new video, and be prepared to discover your favorite new artist.

EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS TO RELEASE A COMPANION ALBUM TO HERE BY THE END OF 2012

BAND UNVEILS TRACKLISTING FOR HERE

BIG EASY EXPRESS WINS HEADLINER AUDIENCE AWARD AT 2012 SXSW FILM CONFERENCE AND FESTIVAL

Fresh off a run of tour dates that began in Santa Ana, CA on March 14, 2012 at The Observatory, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros announced today they would release a second album by year's end in addition to their next studio album, Here, which will be released by Community Music on May 29, 2012.

"In the middle of the recording process we realized we were essentially making a double album. Being four years since our last album, the writing explored a wide variety of subject and sound, as it turned out we had a lot to say," said the band's Alex Ebert. "Instead of putting it out all at once, we found that two different albums seemed to be forming. Alone these albums are albums. Together these albums express a varying and so relatively living portrait of our lives."

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros today posted the final tracklisting for Here this morning on their website www.edwardsharpeandthemagneticzeros.com, and recently unveiled the artwork for the album, consisting of a photograph shot by Alex Ebert in Mozambique on the fan website http://themagneticzeros.com.

"The hard division created by the horizon of sea and sky represents the appearance of a dualistic world of dark and light, us and them, here and there. The circle that breaks the dividing line between the sea and the sky represents what feels to be the underlying truth: that creation lives not by the laws of duality or division, but emanates from everything at once, swirling all falsely-held boundaries in a wonder of every spectrum of experience," said Ebert.

2. That's What's Up
3. I Don't Wanna Pray
4. Mayla
5. Dear Believer

7. One Love To Another

9. All Wash Out

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros made an appearance with members of Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show at the 2012 South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival on March 17th for the world premier of Big Easy Express, which won the Headliner Audience Award. Following the screening, the groups performed an acoustic set followed by an encore screening of the film and performances at the LBJ Lawn at the University of Texas. The Emmett Malloy directed film covered the bands' journey as they  traveled in vintage railcars across the American Southwest over the course of a week, playing concerts at six unique outdoor locations along the route.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will launch a nationwide tour starting in Oakland, CA at the Fox Theatre on May 2nd.  The band will be headlining the iconic Greek Theatre and kick off its 2012 Season on May 4th.  The following night the band will headline Santa Barbara's Santa Barbara Bowl for the first time.  The tour will cross the country and include a headlining performance at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN and a stop in Canada before it winds down on June 1st at the Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, AR.  For ticket information please visit www.edwardsharpeandthemagneticzeros.com. ABOUT EDWARD SHARPE AND THE MAGNETIC ZEROS
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros formed in Los Angeles in 2007.  They released their debut album, Up From Below, in July 2009 on Community Music.  The album has sold over 275,000 copies in the US, and charted on iTunes for 69 straight weeks.  With its unique and universal appeal, their hit single "Home" soared to over 775,000 downloads.  After intensive touring throughout 2009-2011, including hit appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have proven themselves to be a touring force to be reckoned with. In March 2011, the troupe's lead singer Alex Ebert released his solo debut album, Alexander, on Community Music, which was written and recorded during breaks from being on tour as a part of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. The album includes ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and played entirely himself. In April 2011, the band embarked on the "Railroad Revival Tour" with Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show where the band traveled exclusively in vintage railcars across the American Southwest for a week and played concerts at unique outdoor locations along the route.  Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros actively support Water Wells For Africa, Charity Water, APJ Now, Hope Campaign and Voice Project.
