Progressive Trance Artist OZGA Chooses New Years Eve To Release Proverbial Groove CD.

Months of online speculation from friends, fans and followers from Facebook to Twitter, finally come to a celebrated end as Southern California's favored son: Scott Ozga, known to the world of Progressive Trance Electronica and Techno Music simply as OZGA, sets New Years Eve, 12-31-11, as the world-wide Release Date of his long awaited CD - "Proverbial Groove."

"Proverbial Groove" is best described as "Progressive Trance/Electro-Rock," an eclectically artistic genre of EDM that has built up quite an amazing following through the Social Media Networks, drawing fans from avid adherents of everyone from Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk to Skrillex, Wolfgang Gartner and deadmau5, while putting reminiscent smiles in the ears and hearts of those who grew up loving the originators of electronic/techno music; from Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Thomas Dolby and Howard Jones to Vangelis, Mannheim Steamroller, Jean-Michael Jarre and Tangerine Dream.

In the words of OZGA himself, "I purposely wrote and recorded Proverbial Groove to be an 'artistic bridge' between the amazingly catchy and memorable song crafting "synth-pop" of the 80s and the varied, hybrid creations of today's popular EDM genres, by building a 'conceptual bridge' between the divine wisdom of the ancients and the virtual, experimental experience of popular electronic music of today."

"It's the first of a designated string of "Concept Album" productions, focusing on positive, uplifting and inspiring music, lyrics and ideas from all around the world and throughout time" OZGA explains.
"Proverbial Groove" is released through OZGA's own independent label: Digilante Records. The CD will be physically distributed world-wide through CD Baby and digital distribution will be handled via CD Baby, iTunes and numerous other digital-download services. # # #

Celebrated as fresh, progressive trance electronica, OZGA MUSIC is whipping the electronic music listening world into a passionate frenzy with its danceable, open-ended and multi-textural trance compositions. Meticulously crafted vocal and instrumental arrangements that cleverly draw inspiration from the very best combination of synthetic and organic musical loops & grooves of the past three decades.  Spanning from the techno lineage of the sounds of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Devo, Moby and Depeche Mode, all the way to the trance lineage of dance grooves from names such as Underworld, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold and Above & Beyond. OZGA now carries the torch forward, onward & upward with his own fresh, new and exciting sound.

RIOTGOD Streaming New Song

Decibel Magazine's "Deciblog" is streaming a new track from RIOTGOD's sophomore release "Invisible Empire". The song "Firebrand" can be heard exclusively HERE.   "Invisible Empire" will be released January 31st in North America on Metalville Records. RIOTGOD began in spirit through the conversations of Monster Magnet's Bob Pantella and Jim Baglino while out on tour as early as 2006.
While touring with Monster Magnet provided them with some great times and afforded them the opportunity to perform around the world, each communicated a desire to express their own musical ideas.

During their time off the road, the pair began exploring the possibilities of creating their own band . Bob began to lay down some ideas to get the ball rolling come 2007.

Bob while recording ideas that would become many of the songs on RIOTGOD's first CD, also sought out musicians that would fill out the guitar and vocal slots for the then nameless band. Contacted first was Garrett Sweeny for guitar.

For the vocals, many possible names had been discussed, including some notable voices familiar via other established bands yet in the end the local NJ connection would lead to Mark Sunshine.

The band began to look for shows locally booking in NYC, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The venues would range from nationally familiar clubs such as Asbury Park's Stone Pony to a gig in a Brooklyn loft.

Touring for the band would be another story. Each member still fulfilled their other musical obligations, most notably Jim and Bob being called out to tour with Monster Magnet, However challenging it may always be owing to scheduling -- touring is a given.

RIOTGOD did its first mini-tour in 2009, hitting the road with fellow NJ rockers The Friends of Bill Wilson. RIOTGOD would visit the US mid-west and Canada, playing venues such as Chicago's Double Door, Detroit's Blondies, Toronto's Bovine Sex Club as well as some lesser known colorful establishments along the way.

Invisible Empire Track Listing:
1. Breed
2. Fool
3. Crossfade
4. Slow Death
5. Firebrand
6. Gas Station Roses
7. Tomorrow`s Today
8. Saving It Up
9. Loosily Bound

THE TREWS back on tour in the U.S. in January

"Two brothers, two guitars, two larger than life voices"
- American Songwriter

Canada’s THE TREWS completed their US RESIDENCY TOUR in the tail end of 2011 as they continue touring behind Hope & Ruin, their fourth full-length studio album.  Feedback was amazing and the quartet doubled the crowd every week in each room they played. Now they're coming back Stateside in January to hit the markets they missed.

Wed, Jan 11 – Madison, WI – The Frequency
Thurs, Jan 12 – Milwaukee, WI – Shank Hall
Fri, Jan 13 – Toledo, OH – Frankies Inner City
Sat, Jan 14 – Cleveland, OH – Beachland Ballroom
Tues, Jan 17 – Philadelphia, PA – North Star Bar
Wed, Jan 18 – New York, NY – Mercury Lounge
Thurs, Jan 19 – Boston, MA – Church of Boston
Fri, Jan 20 – Providence, RI – Fete
Sat, Jan 21 – Watertown, NY – Exibition Hall

“It is safe to say the crowd would have stood there and sung back all night if the band had played on. It’s hard to say they left them wanting more, as it’s hard to think of what more one could want in a rock ’n’ roll show.”

“Eschewing anything indie or edgy, this Canadian quartet pounds out frills-free rock and power-pop with no pretensions…
The songs are tough, the music is tight.”
“Saturday at Uncle Slayton’s, sounds reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Tom Petty filled the halls as The Trews plugged in and rocked out.  Playing to a full house”
 Allison Ray,

"The Trews could do no wrong and their catchy songs whipped the crowd up into a rock and roll frenzy! The Trews provided an exciting, unforgettable rock and roll experience for all those lucky enough to be in attendance."
— Buffalo Music Blog

Earlier this summer, NY Press was blown away by a rare NYC appearance and American Songwriter hosted an acoustic session by the guys in their Nashville offices.  Twangville calls Hope & Ruin, “A collection of rock anthems filled with blaring electric guitars and tight harmonies” andMetal Odyssey named Hope & Ruin the #1 Rock Album of 2011, exclaiming, "The Trews just don’t bang-it-out on this album, they play the song and take you on an escalator of Rock."

"Sing Your Heart Out" ( 2010) - Best AAA/Alternative Song

The Trews released Hope & Ruin earlier this year, Live From Montreal this summer, exclusively on iTunes, and in September, Hope & Ruin Deluxe, which includes a digital booklet and video of the title track.  The DELUXE version is only available digitally through Bumstead Recordsand is generously priced at $8.99.
Full list of global tour dates can be found at

“The songs all creep up on you, rather than being over-the-top.  What they will ensure is that you’ll want to go back and check them out again and again.”
Malcolm Dome, Classic Rock Magazine

"The band is too good for fans of great music not to enjoy. You’ll find songs on this album that you’ll love your years, we can guarantee you that."
Alternative Addiction
"The Trews' strength is in the hooky rock that dominates the set list...  They nimbly balance between commercial pop and tougher rock without falling into either camp.”
 - Hal Horiowitz, All Music

“What impresses on Hope & Ruin is how they excel equally at big rave-ups and swoonier slow numbers, raising and lowering the volume and weaving together strong harmonies to suit each track to a tee, a feat made all the more impressive by the album’s live-off-the-floor recording tactic.”
Dennis Cook, Dirty Impound

“The Trews is a refreshing blast of modern pop rock. Producing good hooks just seems to be in the very fabric of this band’s DNA and there’s no shortage of excellent songs to mine from the dozen on their latest, Hope and Ruin."
Bill Sullivan, The Rock and Roll Report

“Big riffs, bigger hooks, anthemic choruses-Canadian alt-rockers The Trews bring all of that and more”
Guitar Edge Magazine

Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey: "We are beyond psyched to head to Brazil for the first time. We've been getting letters and emails from folks down there for years and it is going to be awesome to finally be able to play for those maniacs south of the equator. I know they're ready for some serious gore fucking metal and we can't wait to deliver it to them!"

EXHUMED w/ Aborted
2/17/2012 Music Hall - Belo Horizonte, MG
2/18/2012 Hangar 110 - São Paulo, SP
2/19/2012 Hangar Bar - Curitiba, PR
2/20/2012 Bar Opinião - Porto Alegre, RS

The band's first new record in almost eight years offers up 11 choice cuts of grinding death metal and has turned up on multiple Year End lists including Decibel, Pitchfork,, MetalSucks and Skulls N Bones! Metal Underground praised the release saying:  “EXHUMED are back, hungry, vicious, and unrelenting,” while Decibel Magazine noted: “Everything seems more fluid and powerful, though as vicious as it all is, the focus remains on the composition and how it smacks the listener between the eyes.” Revolver agreed: “… fans of dripping blood, gaping autopsies, and ravenous zombies will absolutely adore this record.” Added Aborted: "EXHUMED has not only strongly persisted over the last 20 years, but has also managed to simultaneously keep their musical integrity and brutal, gore-filled lyrics fully intact."

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH are kicking of 2012 with a special hometown show in Brooklyn, NY at The Knitting Factory. The show which will take place January 6th, will also be streaming in full courtesy of APHND, The Knitting Factory and Tickets can be purchased HERE. In other APHND news, the band has parted ways with guitarist Bobby Hambel, and has announced a replacement. Frontman Sal Abruscato commented about the lineup change.

"Due to conflicting schedules with Biohazard, Bobby Hambel is unable to tour any further with A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH. We wish Bobby and Biohazard all the great success they deserve on their upcoming release in January 2012. Eddie Heedles has been chosen as the new replacement for Bobby. Eddie is a shredding guitarist who has worked with the likes of Corey Glover (Living Colour), T.M. Stevens, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Sekond Skyn and The White Chocolate Experience."

APHND's debut album "And Hell Will Follow Me" was named #6 on Revolver Magazine's Top 20 Albums of 2011. Not stopping there "And Hell Will Follow Me" also grabbed the number 6 spot on Germany's ( is one of the biggest German alternative/rock/mainstream music websites in Germany.)

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH is the brainchild of Brooklyn, NY native Sal Abruscato, and sounds like Alice in Chains mysteriously sneaking up behind Type O Negative with a butcher knife while being filmed for a future episode of "Law & Order".

"And Hell Will Follow Me" is available in three different formats: Digipak CD, 2 LP Set and digital download. The 2 LP Set comes on 180 gram vinyl and also includes a copy of the CD. In addition the 2 LP set features an LP exclusive bonus track: "Pickup Truck".

“Swindon youngsters THE DEAD LAY WAITING have crept into view from out of nowhere. Performers at last year’s Download Festival (and returning this year) and nominated for a heap of Best Band awards, this black-clad five-piece shred and headbang in the vein of Bring Me The Horizon.”
- Terrorizer Magazine

“Unleashing a hard as nails racket with ruthless precision, arriving on a storm of thunderous riffs and boiling vitriol.”
- KERRANG! Magazine

“Their music is more extreme – plunging, powerful and raw – with really grooving sense of grind at times that rears its head regularly. What you get is the sense of a band striving to be a little outside of the norm, and carrying it off well. Almost Heaven is a convincing way to begin what should be a triumphant march.”

ABOVE & BEYOND Group Therapy North America Tour 2012

Paavo Siljamäki, Tony McGuinness, and Jono Grant

Britain's most popular DJ/producer collective, Above & Beyond are embarking on an epic 20 date bus tour from mid-January, the first of two legs of their 2012 Group Therapy North America Tour.

Kicking off at LAVO Las Vegas on Tuesday January 17th, the tour will see Above & Beyond visit several American and Canadian cities for the very first time, as well as kicking off their 2012 residency at Marquee Las Vegas on January 21st. The first leg of 'Group Therapy North America' will involve shows in Hartford, Syracuse, Waterloo, London (Ontario) and Norfolk, as well as more familiar stopovers in major cities like Montreal, Boston, Minneapolis and San Diego. The first of two Fluxx shows in San Diego has already sold out and Beta in Waterloo, Canada, sold out in just 12 hours.

Centered around their critically acclaimed second artist album Group Therapy - "the biggest artist album of the year" according to UK dance music bible Mixmag, which features Billboard dance chart hits like "Sun & Moon" and "Thing Called Love", Above & Beyond's Group Therapy show takes the DJ set up into the realm of concert theatre - with emotive visuals telling the tale of the tracks being played and live video messaging from the band adding to the story-telling theme.  Also featuring previously unheard and exclusive club mixes of the tracks on the album, the Group Therapy tour will be a unique dancefloor experience for Above & Beyond's legion of North American fans.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now and it's advisable to be quick as demand for Above & Beyond gigs normally runs high - the band sold out two Hollywood Palladium shows in a record 24 hours earlier this year. Part Two of the Group Therapy North America Tour will take place in May & June 2012.

“The hip Check Yo’ Ponytail party in Los Angeles takes its most popular alumni on the road”-New York Times

“Though it tends to favor electro, rock, and hip-hop most, the characteristics of a Check Yo Ponytail show go beyond genre limitations. Chan doesn't care what kind of music an artist or band makes as long as it's fun and adds to the whole tight-knit, projector screen visual-fueled, dance-minded feel of the evening.”- San Francisco Bay Guardian

“The bill’s three best-known acts, Pictureplane, Big Freedia and Spank Rock, shook up any semblance of musical conventionality over hours of deep rolling bass and thundering boom-bap beats. Each set was backed by visuals (by Demonbabies) that worked to confuse and inspire a sense of the absurdity of songs like Freedia’s “Azz Everywhere!!!” - Denver’s Reverb

"[One of the] undiscovered bands you need to hear now!" - SPIN

"Pop music hasn't seen such a seamless marriage between techno beats and swooning cello parts since...well, this might just be a first."- San Francisco Chronicle

"A small taster of new material showed a less overtly poppy direction might be coming for this band [Geographer], and a definite growth." - One Thirty BPM

"They [Geographer] manage the rare feat of making music that is catchy without relying on earworm hooks to hold you hostage...These aren't songs that get stuck in your head; they are invited guests that you gratefully allow to become part of you."- mySpoonful

One of 2012's most anticipated albums, Geographer's MYTH drops February 28, 2012 onModern Art Records.  The San Francisco trio, which consists ofvocalist, synth mastermind, and guitarist Mike Deni, cellist Nathan Blaz and drummer Brian Ostreicher, explores new sonic elements to the band's already commanding sound, and gives fans a taste of what's to come with their first astonishing lyrical track "Life of Crime."

"Life of Crime" is exclusively available for a limited time as a FREE download HERE

In March 2011 the band signed with Modern Art Records, in partnership with Warner Music's Independent Label Group.  MYTH comes on the heels of recent success including touring nationally with Stars and Ladytron, and showcasing at major music festivals Noise Pop and the main stage at Treasure Island Music Festival 2011.  Geographer also garnered praise for their shows at SXSW from Huffington Post as, "Buzz Bands of SXSWand "Bands You SHOULD See at SXSW."  KCRW also included Geographer as one of the, "Bands to Watch SXSW 2011."  The band's live sound can either spontaneously make a crowd get wild on the dance floor, or completely stand still-enraptured by the music.

After releasing theirhighly acclaimed LP Innocent Ghost and EP Animal Shapes, Geographer teamed up with producer Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, Beulah, Why?, Deerhoof) and renowned mixer Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Walkmen, Holy Ghost!, Tokyo Police Club) toscrupulouslycraft the new record.  On MYTH Mike's distinct melodic vocals flirt with dazed synth melodies and alluring guitar riffs; while Nathan's haunting electric cello cords, and Brian's vibrant, powerful drums blend together to create a mind-altering, ten track album that is pulsating with complex polyrhythms and stunning harmonies.

Geographer started with the courageous decision to turn negative circumstances into positive ambitions. In 2008,Mike was escaping strife within his family, and found himself picking up an abandoned synthesizer off the dismal city streets of San Francisco.  He started to reinvent himself through the art of music, and then simultaneously met Nathan and Brian, which led to the formation of Geographer.

"We met through a mutual friend at an open-mic at The Hotel Utah shortly after we all moved to San Francisco. I feel like it was like a rite of passage,"  Mike says. "I didn't have a lot of friends here, and I didn't have a job, so I was just playing all day long. I feel like that really was when I found myself as a songwriter."

With MYTH Geographer has expanded far beyond their San Francisco roots to create a remarkable indie rock album that will appeal to every generation.

Expect Geographer and MYTH to land on a few 'Best of 2012' lists!

3. Kaleidoscope

5. Lovers Game

New L.A.-based Post Planetary record label launches with three album releases scheduled for early 2012.

Founder Faris McReynolds steps out of confines of fine art world to control his musical future.

“The name references art that is post-culture and not limited to geographical borders.” – Faris McReynolds

Los Angeles-based musician Faris McReynolds today announced the launch of Post Planetary, a new record label that will issue debut albums by Archer BlackExdetectives and One Finger Riot in early 2012. Archer Black’s Forgiveness Is A Weapon is scheduled for February 7th, followed by the Exdetectives album Take My Forever on February 14th and One Finger Riot’s Come Drag Me Down on February 21st.

To celebrate the launch, Post Planetary has made the first singles from each release available for free download for a limited time at Each single is accompanied by a non-album B-side (also available for download) and videos are now out for Archer Black’s “Onward & Down” and One Finger Riot’s “Work/Drink/Sleep” as well.

Unlike so many musicians that become painters, McReynolds found success as a fine artist first, showing and selling his work in galleries before he was even out of art school.  “The success of painting actually isolated me from creativity,” says McReynolds, who took a leap of faith, leaving his gallery and forming Post Planetary to release his own music and more.

“In the fine art world, artists have very little control over their career,” explains McReynolds. “Having had that experience already, I thought it would be best to take control. I started a label to build a context for bands I like that I can work with, as well as putting out my own records.”  In addition to founding the Post Planetary label, McReynolds is also the man behindExdetectives and One Finger Riot.  Archer Black is led by musician Dustin Morgan, also known for his work as bassist with The Autumns.

“Everyone around me says labels are dead, and nobody needs them anymore,” says McReynolds. “But, I disagree. A good label functions like a filter and I think I think it’s more important than ever to have your music in a place that makes sense.” Faris McReynolds of Post Planetary is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

Kathryn Calder premieres music video for "Turn A Light On" at Paste

About Kathryn Calder

Life is full of surprises. Nobody knows this more than Kathryn Calder. After years of playing in indie darlings Immaculate Machine, she found herself in the very unexpected position of being asked to record and tour with The New Pornographers. Before she knew it, she was inducted as a full fledged member of that group. In 2010 she once again surprised herself (and fans) by releasing her first solo album of her own compositions entitled Are You My Mother?, which would garner favorable press throughout the world and hinted a dizzying array of different avenues that the songwriter could explore in the future.

About Bright and Vivid

Written and recorded in a relatively short amount of time, Bright and Vivid is a masterfully refined piece of work that illustrates a maturation that can only come from intense growth and change. Somefolks break when too much happens in a short period of time, yet Calder reached deep within and manifested it into a striking gift for listeners.

The first thing you will notice from the onset of the first track "One, Two, Three" is that the production level is massive with layers upon layers of different shades of sound that continues to unfold with each listen. Not only is the production expansive, but the performances are precise. Kathryn is backed this go round by a newly minted band consisting of Lane Arndt, Stefan Bozenich and Marek Tyler. Additional parts were provided by friends and fans of Kathryn, including: Jon Wurster (Superchunk,Mountain Goats), Dean Tzenos (Odonis, Odonis), Jesse Zubot, Barry Mirochnik and Paul Rigby (Neko Case) and Ford Pier.

Fans expecting a straight ahead pop album will instead discover songs that are remarkably complex. The endlessly singable hooks are supported by intelligent songwriting and complex arrangements. Calder sums it up best...."I didn't want to give those songs away too easily, I wanted people to wonder what was coming next, where the song was going." This album defies ANY comparisons to Kathryn's current association with The New Pornographers as well as her past history with Immaculate Machine. Kathryn has found her own beautifully unique voice... one that is best summed up by the title that she chose for her sophmore release,Bright and Vivid.
