"A true student of the electronic era, MiMosa isn't just another whomp-stomp-wobble-repeater maestro: His tracks blend drums, bass, hip-hop, dub and downtempo into one melodic collage that will have you grooving from start to finish."
- Westword

"...that kid has the fortune of talent and an ear to match."
- Magnetic Magazine

CHECK OUT MiMOSA AT HIS SOLD OUT FILLMORE SHOW BELOW

"When Mimosa - raging behind a Macbook, his faux-hawk whipping around like a rabid squirrel’s tail - squashes the sonic tension he’s so carefully built by unleashing a hard-as-nails, low-end accompanied beat, the whole damn club goes next-level bonkers."
- Philadelphia Weekly

MiMOSA is taking North America by storm, selling out major venues all over the country such as Royale in Boston, Webster Hall in New York City, and House of Blues in Chicago. He's continuing his conquest through the winter, with shows in Austin, Orange County, Charleston, Knoxville, and St. Louis, just to name a few. He will also be ringing in the new year in Los Angeles at Together As One, alongside some of the biggest and brightest stars of electronic music.

Blissfully unconcerned with a world obsessed with categorization as a means of definition, Tigran aka MiM0SA crafts music for its own sake, defying expectations with genre bending soundscapes. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently residing in Los Angeles, MiM0SA began producing at the tender age of 17. Blessed with an abundance of talent and an ear for sonic experimentation, this fan-favorite has quickly developed a name for himself as one of the West Coast’s top exports. And the word is spreading fast. To say that MiM0SA is on the rise is to miss the mark. Rather, MiM0SA has arrived.

It was in Brooklyn, NY where MiM0SA found refuge as he wrote, recorded and produced his debut full length album "Sanctuary" that was released October 25 on False Idol Musik. After just one listen, it’s evident that his versatility as an artist goes hand in hand with his refusal to be tied down by any particular sound or style.

While his previous EP release "58 Degrees" favored a more grittier fusion of unrelenting beats and grime, "Sanctuary" works as one cohesive whole piece of work that finds MiM0SA immersed in rhythm, encompassing and centered around the 808 drum kit most notable on the track "Last Night In Town". However the album carries an authenticity by which MiM0SA's aesthetic appreciation of the origin of sound is fused with layers of various styles, textures, and grooves that embrace Dubstep, Hip-Hop, 2-step, Moombahton, Dub, and Downtempo. It becomes apparent that while building this collage, his vision was to "Steer away from aggressive tones, but at the same time try to find different avenues to get the same crowd response that a big bass drop would get,” he comments.

"He walked on stage and started melting faces with a sort of relentless energy that completely blew me away."
- Earmilk

Whereas the album’s subtle creshendos rely on MiM0SA’s emotional artistic expression, his live sets are focused on pure raw energy that capture the rush of earth quaking low end.

In just a few short years he’s shared the stage with standard-bearers like Benga, Skream, Rusko, Datsik, Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, and Flying Lotus. He’s also played festivals and shows across North America, including Coachella, Symbiosis Gathering, Burning Man, Decibel Festival, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The words tireless and prolific don’t quite do MiM0SA justice.  In one weekend he headlined Lightning in a Bottle, blasted over to Summer Camp, and finished off the weekend with a blistering performance Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

HARRIET TO RELEASE DEBUT EP TELL THE RIGHT STORY ON JANUARY 31, 2012

"I SLEPT WITH ALL YOUR MOTHERS"

CURRENTLY PREMIERING AT PASTEMAGAZINE.COM

November 30, 2011 - Los Angeles, CA - Harriet, a new Los Angeles-based band fronted by former Dawes member Alex Casnoff, today announced the details of their debut EP, titled Tell The Right Story, which will be self-released on January 31, 2012. The EP's gripping opening track "I Slept With All Your Mothers" is currently premiering at PasteMagazine.Com.

Inspired largely by classic storytelling and the spectacle of the movies, Tell The Right Story weaves eerily romantic ballads with unwavering anthems, and features classic elements of Americana and folk music contrasted with futuristic electronic samples and beats.

"I wanted it to feel big... cinematic. I wanted every song to be a movie, " said Casnoff. "I wanted it to feel like an occasion. I wanted it to feel like a wedding."

Casnoff was formerly a member of notable Los Angeles bands Dawes and PAPA, bands both named after grandfathers. In flipping the tradition, Casnoff decided to name the band after his grandmother, Harriet. After touring the country for years with his prior bands and with a growing arsenal of his own songs, Casnoff stepped into the studio in June 2011, armed with his nicest suit and a bottle of fine tequila, to record what would become Tell The Right Story. The result is a striking collection of songs that draw on the influence of classic American singer-songwriters, film, electronic music, and Casnoff's experience as a touring musician.

"I may have seen every gas station in the country, but the America I feel indebted to is not in the past, at least not that far. I am a product of my time. We make music about the retro-future. Music about coping. Anti motivational motivational music."

Harriet is Alex Casnoff, Aaron Folb (bass), Henry Kwapis (drums), and Adam Gunther (guitar). Tell The Right Story was produced by Sean O'Brien and recorded in Los Angeles and Sacramento. Live dates will be announced shortly.

David Berkeley at TEDxSF & "From The Living Room To The Loft" on SiriusXM

PERFORMANCE ON SIRIUSXM’s “FROM THE LIVING ROOM TO THE LOFT”
RE-AIRING 12/4 & 12/6

“BELIEVE” by SEAN TYAS, FEATURING DAVID BERKELEY OUT NOW

New York, NY (November 30, 2011) – Bay Area singer/songwriter/author, David Berkeley has been more than industrious this year in support of his recent album Some Kind Of Cure, as well as his accompanying book, 140 Goats And A Guitar: The Stories Behind Some Kind of Cure.  YAHOO! MUSIC named Some Kind Of Cure one of the 'Albums That Should Be In Every Home' and HUFFINGTON POST featured David about his album and book along with a live performance video.

In addition to his usual club dates, David has also been performing and reading from his new book at museums, bookstores, cafes, private homes and even for marriage proposals.  Last night, Berkeley was a featured performer and speaker at the sold out TEDxSF Salon.  The focus of the program was education, and David sang songs and spoke of his experience at Harvard, teaching in a Brooklyn public school, and volunteering with CITY YEAR in San Jose.  The event was streamed live and each Salon video replay will be archived and found at TEDx.com and TED.com web channels.

David’s sold out Oct 15, 2011 performance from The Living Room in New York aired on "From The Living Room To The Loft" on SiriusXM on Nov 27th and will be rebroadcast on December 4 and December 6 at 7pm on SiriusXM Channel 30.  Berkeley will continue to tour in 2012, including the 30A Songwriters Festival, put on by the Cultural Arts Alliance.
Berkeley further deepens his foothold in the club circuit as “BELIEVE,” which Berkeley co-wrote with Sean Tyas is out now.  MixMag states that the “floor-friendly arrangement and David’s emotive lyrics (which we first fell in love with on Agulo’s ‘Fire Sign’) are a match made in heaven… producing a big-room, crossover movement.”  You can download the track at iTunes and Beatport.  A Steve Brian remix of “George Square” will be released in January on German label Euphonic.

Berkeley wrote and recorded a title track for New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben’s new thriller Shelter and Coban is giving the track away at his book readings and with purchases of his novel.  David also recently penned an essay called “River Music,” published in The Blue Rock Review, Volume 7, WATER. He’ll once again don his literary hat for WHY THERE ARE WORDS, the bi-weekly Bay Area reading series.  More information can be found at http://whytherearewords.wordpress.com.

Paste, American Songwriter, Relix, SF Chronicle & Boston Globe have all covered Some Kind Of Cure and David performed at the 2011 Rocky Mountain Folk Festival with stops at Daytrotter, Acoustic Café, Art Of The Song (NPR), Acoustic Sunrise, WFUV (New York), WXPN (Philly), WERS (Boston), MPR (Maine) and a slew of morning shows.

He’s also performed on World Café, Mountain Stage, XM’s Loft Sessions, WFUV with John Platt and radio and television stations across the country.  David Berkeley was named one of WXPN's “Artists to Watch,” has received ASCAP’s Johnny Mercer Songwriter Award and, perhaps most notably, performed on PRI’s ‘This American Life’, telling the awkward and hilarious story of a private serenade he was hired to perform to help a guy win back an ex-girlfriend.

DAVID BERKELEY APPEARANCES
December 8, 2011 - Saulsalito, CA - Why there are Words at Studio 333 - 7pm
January 12, 2012 - Decatur, GA - Eddie's Attic - 7:45
January 13, 2012 - Seaside, FL - 30A Songwriters Festival
January 14, 2012 - Seaside, FL - 30A Songwriters Festival
February 11, 2012 - Blanco, TX - Juniper Hills Farm - 6pm - An amazing and romantic Valentines Day dinner and unplugged concert (with a reading, perhaps) at the beautiful Juniper Hills Farm.

"The best of the young American songwriters, a voice full of feeling and a big, big heart.
And the balls to say what he thinks."
- Boston Phoenix

“Emotional story-telling lyrics, charismatic stage presence, and hilarious anecdotes.”
- June Wulff, The Boston Globe

“A musical poet... There's a quiet beauty in David Berkeley's voice that carries a strength with it. He's a storyteller. He's a heart breaker.  He's at once a gusting tornado and an elegant whisper.”
- San Francisco Chronicle
“Berkeley’s wine-dark voice and penchant for dramatically textured minor-key ballads recalls Cat Stevens at his introspective best.”
- Paula Carino, American Songwriter

“You could call what David Berkeley does folk-pop, but it's really a kind of musical alchemy - a profound sensibility that's somehow radio-ready.  He plays finely crafted songs off his sensational new album Some Kind of Cure."
- Philadelphia Inquirer

"The music itself was a soothing cup of tea on a cold, rainy, May evening. Berkeley’s voice was warm and startlingly rich as he sang about love gained, lost, and fought over — his songs stalk the battlefield of relationships."
- Denver Post

"David Berkeley’s new album is some kind of wonderful for fans of the written and recited word.
- Driftwood Magazine

“Berkeley’s a sixties-esque troubadour with songs to swoon by and a voice sweeter than incense and peppermints… He’s a double fantasy of Nick Drake and Donovan.”
- Robin Aigner, Rolling Stone.com

“Dashing singer-songwriter David Berkeley delivers his warm, thoughtful songs, along with a reliably hilarious line in onstage banter.”
- Time Out New York

“Berkeley sings in a lustrous melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake....
As his melodies ascend to become benedictions and consolations, the music shimmers and peals.”
- Jon Pareles, The New York Times

“One of the most promising singers to emerge in recent times.”
- Relix Magazine

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD To Unveil The Thousandfold Epicentre Video Teaser Series

Occult rock legion THE DEVIL'S BLOOD will be releasing a series of video teasers leading up to the release of their upcoming full-length, The Thousandfold Epicentre. Each week a new teaser will be viewable via the band's official Metal Blade landing page. To start, check out the art teaser clip for the title track at THIS LOCATION.

Metal Blade Records recently announced its union with the eclectic rock ensemble and will unleash The Thousandfold Epicentre in North America on January 17, 2012. The record offers up 11 tracks produced with the help of Pieter Kloos at Void Studios (Eindhoven, The Netherlands).

The myriad of influences, both artistically and spiritually, that creates the overall aesthetic of THE DEVIL'S BLOOD takes the listener into a labyrinth of wondrous amazement and dark realization, using the tradition of rock 'n' roll music as being a mouthpiece for the influence of The Devil to evoke a powerful, sensual and energetic mixture of Musical Theatre and Ritual Practice. Using the power of their written material, which traditionally holds common ground with, for example, '70s hard rock and 60s psychedelia, as a stepping stone, the band moves into complex improvisational drifts that drive, clash, shake and force their way into the subconscious of the listeners while at the same time opening up their senses with the use of fire, blood, incense and other ritualistic ingredients.

Further info on THE DEVIL'S BLOOD to come. Stay tuned....

AUGUST BURNS RED debut 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'

Band's annual tradition of re-imagining Christmas classics continues for fourth straight year
January 2012 headlining tour looms on horizon

Nov 30, 2011 -  'Tis the season for metal. Following their annual tradition, juggernauts AUGUST BURNS RED have unleashed their latest rendition of a Christmas classic, this time tackling holiday favorite, 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen'.

"The past few years the annual ABR Christmas songs haven’t been nearly as 'metal' as 'Carol of the Bells' was," explains guitarist JB Brubaker. "When writing our rendition of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' I wanted to write a more traditional metal song.  Something less artsy and
more in your face.  I am confident that 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' is easily the most metal Christmas song we’ve ever done.  While recording it I was thinking 'this song sounds straight 80’s metal' which amused me greatly."

The track is available now as a digital single or a limited edition colored vinyl 7" through the band's former label, CI Records, and can currently be previewed at the band's Facebook page.

The release of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' caps off a banner 2011 for the heavyweights - their fourth album, Leveler, rocketed to the top of the Billboard charts, debuting at #11 on the Billboard 200 in addition to entering the charts as the #1 Hard Rock album and #2 Rock album. Leveler also displayed staying power and has become the band's fastest selling album to date.

ABR looks to further continue the incredible momentum built in 2011 by kicking off 2012 with a seven week US headlining tour presented by Band Merch and brought to you by House of Blues Entertainment and Ibanez Guitars.
While the band already has two albums that topped 100,000 in sales (2009's Constellations and 2007's Messengers), Leveler is on pace to set a new high-bar for AUGUST BURNS RED, adding commercial success to the critical praise which the album has garnered from the likes of Alternative Press, Revolver, Rock Sound and more, in addition to high marks from dozens of other outlets. The album pushes the band's sonic boundaries in every direction, yet emerges as an unquestionably heavier album than its predecessor. It's a game-changer, for ABR, and for fans of hard rock everywhere.

Select praise for 'Leveler':

"From start to finish, Leveler is exhilarating… the quintet’s strongest work to date. (4/5)" -ALTERNATIVE PRESS

"AUGUST BURNS RED have crafted a signature brand of metalcore that challenges the genre’s status quo ... [They've] set their own bar even higher on Leveler, and have done so for all the scene in the process. (4.5/5)" –REVOLVER

"Leveler takes the band to a unique level... not only easily approachable but entertaining, impressive, and new. (10/10)" -OUTBURN

"By far the greatest album AUGUST BURNS RED have ever produced" -EXCLAIM!

"A wonderfully dynamic album" -ALL MUSIC GUIDE

"Leagues above much of this genre" -ROCK SOUND

"Leveler has the potential to be another breakout record for the group, with a maturing sound and greater experimentation. Hopefully, this new album will help turn even more skeptics into headbanging converts" -METAL INSIDER

New YACHT Video & EP/NYC Show + Other Tour Dates

Mitchell Davis is a bona-fide YouTube celebrity. His YouTube Channel, livelavalive, has 666,345 subscribers and 112,380,788 total views. Some of his individual videos have views in the millions; he travels the country working on video projects, and earns his living video blogging ("vlogging") to his devoted community of fans on YouTube.

“Mitchell is a longtime supporter of YACHT; we first became aware of him when he started using our music in his YouTube video-blogs (vlogs, in the parlance of the medium). We were fascinated by what he was doing, sought him out, and eventually became friends, despite our geographical separation. Mitchell made a handful of vlogs about his experiences at YACHTconcerts over the years before we invited him out to Portland, Oregon, to direct the music video for, "I Walked Alone,” a song about cyclical interconnectedness. It was really important to us to have a fan involved in the visual direction of the band; as children of the Internet age, we know that connection, self-empowered media-making, and a collective spirit are the most positive tools we have.

This is a feedback loop, a particularly modern, almost Warholian, story: the medium of YouTube empowered a brilliant kid from Ohio, brought him to the attention of the people he admires, annihilated the gap between them, and eventually facilitated the kid’s direct involvement in—even control of—the very work he loved to begin with.  We live in the 21st century, and YACHT is a 21st century community, a larger experience that evolves along with the people it calls to action.”

12/02/11 Worcester, MA – Clark College

Hospitality announce Jan tour dates & NY record release show!

Hospitality will release their self-titled Merge debut on January 31 and have announced their record release show in Brooklyn at Glasslands on February 3 as well as a few warm-up dates in January.

Hospitality the album has an overarching vision and should be listened to as a whole, though every song registers as a single. “Friends of Friends” could break the Hot 100 with its heavy intro, swingin’ breakdown, and horn riffs; “Betty Wang,” the lynchpin of their live set a few years back, is impossibly catchy, the story of one of Papini’s real-life colleagues at a financial day job; and “The Right Profession” is a power-pop burst of an anthem with Papini chanting the immortal line, “It’s hard to change!” (Isn’t it?) And “The Birthday,” with a sinuous, dissonant lead guitar, the lockstep rhythm of the drums, and Brian Betancourt’s nimble bass, wouldn’t be out of place on The Police’s debut record, but its epic coda makes it decidedly CinemaScope.

And after patiently honing its craft, playing concerts (and gaining converts), Hospitality has reached what will be its first apex with many more heights to come; from their modest debut in a Red Hook row house, the band has evolved from four-track low-fidelity to a luxury five-star future.

Hospitality are Nathan Michel, Brian Betancourt and Amber Papini.

Hospitality on tour:
Jan 11 Toronto, ON Drake Hotel
Jan 12 Detroit, MI PJ's Lager House
Jan 14 Chicago, IL Lincoln Hall (Tomorrow Never Knows)
Jan 16 Cleveland, OH Grog Shop
Jan 17 Pittsburgh, PA Brillobox
Feb 03 Brooklyn, NY Glasslands Gallery (Record Release Show)

Herman Dune Announce Tell Me Something I Don't Know EP for 1/17/12 Release Date on Strange Moosic Records

North American Tour Dates Announced for January

"Tell Me Something I Don't Know" Video, Starring Mad Men's Jon Hamm, Out Now

More than a decade ago, in 1999, songwriter and vocalist David-Ivar Herman Dune and drummer Cosmic Neman let go of their secular life and created the French band, Herman Dune. John Peel picked the band as one of his favorites and invited them to more than ten of his glorious Peel Sessions that would allow Herman Dune to perform all over the world. Over the years, they have released many EPs and albums through various labels, most notably Not on Top in 2005 and Next Year In Zion in 2006. Rolling Stone picked their track, "I Wish That I Could See You Soon" as #89 on their list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. They have announced their return to North America in January with a handful of tour dates, as well as the arrival of their new EP, Tell Me Something I Don't Know for a January 17th release date on their own Strange Moosic Records imprint.

The video for the title track, featuring Mad Men star Jon Hamm, can be found here. The new record was recorded with Adam Selzer (M Ward, She & Him, Dirty Projectors, The Decemberists) at Type Foundry Studio in Portland, OR.

Herman Dune North American Tour Dates
1/12 - Chicago @ Schubas (Tomorrow Never Knows Festival)
1/14 - Los Angeles @ Theatre Raymond Kabbaz
1/16 - New York @ Joe's Pub
1/17 - Boston @ TT The Bear's
1/18 - Montreal @ Il Motore
1/19 - Toronto @ Horseshoe Tavern

More Herman Dune info:
Frontman David-Ivar Herman Dune’s facility in bending the English language to his whim is impressive, given that he was raised in Paris of Swedish and Jewish descent. He learned American English playing chess with his grandfather, a Swedish diplomat who lived in DC, and began writing simple songs in English at the age of 11. There is sly playfulness in David’s lyrical acrobatics with his phrasing and cadence paying tribute to songwriters like Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Jonathan Richman and David Berman. His words distill innocent beauty from the prosaic and he crows about them with a joyous high lonesome timbre and soft accent.

On drums and percussions is Cosmic Neman, a French born Parisian who provides the steady heartbeat that syncopates David’s words and music. The elegant polyrhythmic thump hints at an affection for Charlie Watts, Can and Mo Tucker, giving a buoyant foundation for David's chiming guitar. These two play off each other’s strengths with the familiar ease that comes from life-long friendship.

The band has consistently toured over the years, selling out the Olympia in Paris and has played with acts such as Arcade Fire, Jolie Holland, Kimya Dawson and Julie Doiron.
