THRONE OF KATARSIS To Infect The Planet With Third Full-Length This Autumn

The Norwegian black metal horde known as THRONE OF KATARSIS are preparing to unleash their third full-length assault, the vile, seven-track LP bearing the title Ved Graven.

Ved Graven (fundamentally translated to “at the grave”) is ultimately the darkest material written by the band since their inception in 2004. Cold and raw, and with the bizarre aura of an everlasting funeral, THRONE OF KATARSIS recorded the seven rites of this album over three long nights, recording in total darkness. All instruments and vocals were recorded in a live séance in order to capture the aura the band creates during their convocations. Several guitar leads were added to this sinister mix, as well as an organ, recorded during a late night ceremony at a local church in Norway.

As with both of TOK's previous full-length releases -- 2007's An Eternal Dark Horizon and 2009's Helvete -- Ved Graven will also be released under the banner of Candlelight Records, and is set for public disbursement on November 1st, 2011. After seven years in existence, Ved Graven is the first recording in the band's lineage to see the duo Infamroth (vocal/guitar/organ) and Vardavlv (drums) expanding THRONE OF KATARSIS to a full lineup, now also including Skinndod (guitar) and Sanrabb (bass). The album was produced by Stein Sund (Einherjer), and bears hand-drawn cover art by infamous dark artist Njard.
Ved Graven Track Listing:
1. Profetens Siste Vandring
2. Helvete Kaller
3. Av Dypets Kulde
4. The Holy Remains The Weak
5. Mesterens Tilbakekomst
6. Apne Alle Sar
7. The Ultimate Shrine

THE DEAD LAY WAITING to Release New Album, 'Almost Heaven', in the US on November 29th, 2011

“Swindon youngsters THE DEAD LAY WAITING have crept into view from out of nowhere. Performers at last year’s Download Festival (and returning this year) and nominated for a heap of Best Band awards, this black-clad five-piece shred and headbang in the vein of Bring Me The Horizon.”
- Terrorizer Magazine

“Unleashing a hard as nails racket with ruthless precision, arriving on a storm of thunderous riffs and boiling vitriol.”
- KERRANG! Magazine

“Their music is more extreme – plunging, powerful and raw – with really grooving sense of grind at times that rears its head regularly. What you get is the sense of a band striving to be a little outside of the norm, and carrying it off well. Almost Heaven is a convincing way to begin what should be a triumphant march.”
- Metal Hammer Magazine

Swindon, UK’s THE DEAD LAY WAITING (TDLW) is pleased to announce the November 29th, 2011 United States release of their new album, Almost Heaven, with UK label Rising Records. Almost Heaven was released in June 2011 in the UK, featuring 14 tracks and 60 minutes of pulsating music. The album also marks the return of Barry Clayton, the voice behind the now well known intro to Iron Maiden’s Number Of The Beast. The band’s first music video from the album, ‘The Days I’m Gone,’ reached #6 in the Scuzz TV playlist, and the band is planning to release a second video for the track ‘Burnt to Ashes’. Streaming tracks from Almost Heaven are available now at the band’s YouTube page.

THE DEAD LAY WAITING began writing music together in 2007, almost immediately making an instant impact on the local scene and securing support slots for visiting bands. With a progressive-edged sound featuring complex and fresh riffs, combined with aggressive approaches and catchy vocal lines, the band quickly earned themselves a reputation for pushing their way through the dredged beds of the UK’s underground rock scene in order to become its new, great shining hope.

In late 2007, the band recorded their first EP, Memories Of A Massacre, followed by a self-titled EP in early 2008. Following an appearance at the Bloodstock Open Air Festival in August 2008, TDLW signed to UK based label Rising Records, releasing their debut album, We Rise, in January 2010. The album consisted of twelve songs of fast-paced, hyper-melodic music. The release also saw the bands first music video for the track, ‘Obsession Of An Anxiety’.

During 2009 and 2010, the band spent much of their time on the road touring both in the UK and Europe, as well as performing at music festivals such as the much-acclaimed Download Festival in 2009 and again in 2010. Earlier this year, despite the bands youth, TDLW were proudly nominated for KERRANG! Magazine’s ‘Best British Newcomer Band’ award, and the Metal Hammer Golden God ‘Best Underground Band’ award. The awards coincided with the UK release of Almost Heaven.

With a fan base growing, the band is ready to take on anything anywhere and perform their bone-crushing live performance across the world.

Ban Connett: Guitar
Steve Franklin: Guitar

Swedish Duo Korallreven Announce Release of Debut Full-Length An Album By Korallreven

Release Mixtape Featuring Britney Spears, Ciara and More Download Korallreven's Mixtape "A Dream Within A Dream"
Swedish electro-pop duo Korallreven have revealed the details and track listing for their debut full-length, An Album By Korallreven, to be released on Acéphale on November 15. The duo are celebrating the album's forthcoming release with a mixtape entitled A Dream Within A Dream, featuring Britney Spears, Ciara, and more. Download their remix of Britney Spears' VMA-winning single, "Till the World Ends."

More ambitious than their previous mixes, the pair revisit and remix some of their favorite songs from the past year. The result is not a farewell to summer, more of a wistful glance over the shoulder. The mix is available for download here and the individual tracks can be found at http://acephalerecords.com/ADreamWithinADream.

Korallreven came together after Marcus Joons returned from an extended trip to Samoa where he found inspiration in the local Catholic choirs. Mesmerized by the beauty of the South Pacific and the exhilaration of travel, he shared his newfound passion with Daniel Tjäder (also of The Radio Dept) and a partnership was born. The group take a blissful journey through influences as far flung as southern rap, dreampop, reggae, and minimal techno, among many others. Joining Korallreven on this debut are a host of collaborators including Victoria Bergsman (Taken By Trees, The Concretes) and Julianna Barwick. An Album By Korallreven wistfully yearns for summer days. As our days shorten and the cold sets in, take it from the Swedes: nothing quells the stirring for warmer months quite like the brightness of a sincere pop song.

An Album By Korallreven Tracklisting:

1. As Young As Yesterday
2. Sa Sa Samoa
3. The Truest Faith
4. Keep Your Eyes Shut
5. Loved-Up
6. Comin' Closer

Serge Devant takes on The KLF classic "3AM Eternal”

Serge Devant feat. Taleen
“3AM Eternal”
Out now on Ultra Records

Rising NYC-based DJ/producer/remixer Serge Devant offers a tease into his forthcoming new Ultra Records artist album with a remix of one of the most iconic tracks in dance music history, The KLF’s “3AM Eternal.”

The Kopyright Liberation Front (The KLF) played a vital role in the acid house movement of the late 80′s and 90′s in Britain. Their originality made all their tracks instant international hits with the infamous, genre-defining hit 3AM Eternal hitting #1 on the UK Singles Chart and #5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 both in the USA and abroad. Serge Devant’s remake resurrects 3AM Eternal with his pure elements and energy, while successfully capturing the aura of its time. The track builds intensity through its huge anthem breakdown, which showcases KLF’s vocals and delivers us into pure 80′s bliss with a twist. Even the album art is a throwback to the KLF original!

Released earlier this summer - Serge Devant feat. Taleen “3AM Eternal” - debuted at #11 on the UK Buzz Charts and #20 on Music Week’s Cool Cuts Chart. One of the hottest tracks of the festival season, it continues to build momentum and has now made its way to #5 on the Cool Cuts chart for the week ending July 16. It’s been 20 years but “3AM Eternal” is back at the top of the charts and Serge’s version is destined to bring this classic sound to a new audience.

The success of “3AM Eternal” comes at a busy time for Serge Devant. He’s DJing around the world throughout the summer (including a main stage slot at NYC’s famed Electric Zoo Festival in September), putting the final touches on his sophomore artist album (due for release in the fall) and working on remixes including Erick Morillo's new record with Rachael Starr entitled "We Are The Night."

TOUR DATES
September 2 – Electric Zoo - New York City
September 9 – Haze Nightclub - Las Vegas
September 12 – Playhouse - Los Angeles

SKINNY PUPPY TO RELEASE hanDover October 25th IN NORTH AMERICA ON SPV/SYNTHETIC SYMPHONY

Industrial Veterans SKINNY PUPPY, have confirmed an October 25th North American release date for their 14th studio album entitled hanDover. The album artwork and track listing have now been revealed.

hanDover, centers not only on the unbridled greed of the world's financial organizations and the governments that enable them, but the climate of political impotence which makes people resign their fate, no matter how insidious the situation gets. In typical PUPPY form, hanDover finds the duo moving forward while still maintaining that sense of aural discovery that has been a hallmark of their 26-year career.

"It's definitely the overarching feel of 'bend over and take it,'" offers Ogre, only half-kidding about the album's theme. "I recently listened to the record and it's making even more sense to me. We're certainly experiencing the rape of mankind as the world's economies slide even further and the inability of people to look around them and see what's going on. You're starting to see a neo-feudalistic empire on the rise. People are getting so pissed off, they're turning on each other."

"I didn't want to write the record the same way as the previous ones," says Key about his m.o. on the first new PUPPY music since 2008's Mythmaker. "I wanted there to be fresh angles, both in the songwriting and the programming platforms. I was changing the whole element of myself just to see what would happen. In the end, I made something different, but it was still coming from me. I'm not interested in looking at my accomplishments and myself. Like any electronic music fan, I look at the big question: Where is it all going?"

Aided by longtime associates Ken "Hiwatt" Marshall and Mark Walk, Ogre and Key have delivered an album that mirrors today's cultural uncertainty. At its most jarring, hanDover feels like digital epilepsy, exchanging the band's predilection for opaque menace for a trembling, near spasmodic discomfort. The amphetamine glitch-worship on "Gambatte," and the mechanized percolating of "Icktums" (with the refrain of "Worship money, worship nothing") further emulates a societal framework that's got its foot on the gas pedal on the road toward extinction. Ogre's twisted fable, "Brownstone" is shored up with twitching synthetics reminiscent of an orgy of hospital equipment. "Village" is an indictment of financial institutions through the prism of the ignorant populace that let them get away with the ruin. ("We're all made to participate in it, so we're all in collusion," explains the singer. "It's your typical Ogre paranoid ditty, complete with tinfoil hat.") The seven-minute "NoiseX" weaves layers of programmed breakbeats into phase-shifted psychedelic vistas to simulate a supercomputer's ascension into purgatory. Ambience or attack-mode, you make the call.

When considering the amount of factors contributing to today's artist-hostile environment, one wonders why some people even bother to continue to make music. It seems Ogre and Key have far too many ideas ricocheting in their individual skulls to ever succumb to ennui or the entitlement groupthink of many of their colleagues. One of their albums was titled Ain't It Dead Yet: But after nearly three decades of service, 14 studio albums, a plethora of remixes and all the cartwheeling through a whole lot of psychic minefields, the answer is a resounding hell, no. Because SKINNY PUPPY is one beast that cannot be tethered.

The City and Horses release new video + album - We Will Never Be Discovered!

The City and Horses release new music video in support of upcoming sophomore album, We Will Never Be Discovered!

"'We Will Never Be Discovered' by The City and Horses is one of the kookiest music videos I’ve ever seen–and I love it. It’s like Zach Galifianakis met some crazy hippies and tried to reinvent the 'Single Ladies' dance. Please try some of these moves (or outfits) at a club. And send me proof."

The City and Horses - We Will Never Be Discovered

We are so psyched to announce that the The City and Horsessophomore effort, We Will Never Be Discovered, will be released September 27th via Paper Garden Records! The elusive indie outfit, led by filmmaker and pop troubadour Marc Cantone, has featured a revolving cast of guests through the years. This latest incarnation features the lovely and ever-so-talented indie songstress Katie Costello. We Will Never Be Discovered sees a more dynamic, almost visual approach to song-writing, as with each vignette Marc invites us into his world full of colorful characters and their respective joys, triumphs, and melancholy.

Pre-order the full-length, We Will Never Be Discovered, HERE

Buy the single, "We Will Never Be Discovered" on iTunes

Speaking of colorful characters, The City and Horses teamed up with French performance art duo le contremaître et sa contremaîtresse to make the video for the titular single. Not unlike The City and Horses themselves, the anomalous video has already caught substantial buzz for being equal parts bizarre and jubilant.

Brass Bed hits the road in support of The Color Session, their recent split ep with Feufollet!

Brass Bed hits the road in support of The Color Sessions, a split ep with their fellow Lafayette, Louisiana residents, Feufollet. The EP sees each band tackling three of the other's songs and transforming them into their own brand of psych pop or, conversely, Cajun music. Please do download and share Brass Bed's cover of "Des Promesses" and Feufollet's cover of "Bums On The Radio" with your readership.

The band is touring to and from Champaign's rapidly growing Pygmalion Music Festival straight through the heart of the Midwest! Fresh out of recording sessions for their third LP in Austin with Danny Reisch, the band will be debuting new material each night along the tour route...

Press for Brass Bed's "Melt White" LP:
"It’s a solid yet pleasurably unpredictable pop band with requisite hooks and crunchy guitar sounds, which makes sense for a group that bills itself on its MySpace page as sounding like “a dog eating peanut-covered homework." Vanity Fair

"Brass Bed is a Lafayette, LA, quartet that channels the power of unrestrained rock and power pop, which it shared on its new LP, Melt White." CMJ

"I was on board with the lyric, "I don't believe in fate at your leisure" and was kept put with their clear influences from The Kinks and Television. Take those and them put into an indie-pop-and-country-twang-lick blender and you've got Brass Bed."RCRD LBL

"Brass Bed fits comfortably alongside earnest 70’s left of the dial rock bands like Big Star. The songs often start in tightly constructed pop structures, but append woolly, distorted monster interludes and codas more often than not. " Brightest Young Things

"Listening to their songs is like listening to a glossier version of Big Star’s #1 Record, or even, dare I say it, Sgt. Peppers." mySpoonful

Gaspar Claus & Pedro Soler's “Barlande” Produced By Bryce Dessner Of The National Out Today On Infine Records

The story of “Barlande” began on a fair summer evening in Tercé, near the town of Poitiers, at the first of the InFiné Workshops in the Normandoux Quarry. Amidst the white chalk walls, a singular duo – flamenca guitar and cello – took the stage for a stringed family dialogue. A fitting analogy as the story of this record is, first and foremost, that of a father, Pedro Soler and his son, Gaspar Claus.

Born in 1938, Pedro witnessed and played a key part in the ‘Golden Age’ of flamenco. He learned guitar as he went along, and under the tutelage of Pepe de Badajoz (Antonio Chacón’s accompanist). For his disciple, Pepe placed the emphasis on intensive playing, the senses and experience. “ I quickly realised that my vocation was not to move alongside those who followed in his footsteps but rather to retrace those of his predecessors”, says Pedro. He went on to perform alongside the great masters (Pepe de la Matrona, Almaden, Juan Varea, Enrique Morente) and, over the years, asserted himself as one of the primary flag-bearers of an “archaic” style of Flamenco, with the accent on dynamics and sonority rather than on “voluble and shiny” virtuosity. “For me, to express oneself within this heritage that has been passed on from generation to generation is not to yield to a reductive dogma but rather to use the rules as a guide to precision and accuracy”, Pedro adds. Despite a strong attachment to his roots, Spain and Andalusia, Pedro never turns down an opportunity to interact with instruments from other walks of musical life: Renaud Garcia-Fons’ double bass or Ravi Prasad’s Indian percussions, to name but a few. He is one of the most celebrated flamenco guitarists in the world today.

At first, Gaspar seemed to be destined for a highly successful career as a cellist. But as he reached his teenage years he decided to leave the Perpignan Conservatoire, rejecting a rather academic form of training in order to reach beyond the “non-confrontational” beauty of his instrument and expand the range of its uses. “ My interest in cello lies in the textures and raw sounds it produces”, says Gaspar. So he immersed himself in a radical, unconventional new curriculum, one based on travelling, meeting people and discovery. He learned to use silence in music: maintaining it and disrupting it. His relationship with his instrument began almost to smoulder as he stroked, thumped or caressed it. He became involved with a wide variety of musical scenes, such as the avant-garde and improvised scenes in Japan (Sashiko M, Yoshihide Otomo, Keiji Haino, etc.), France (Catherine Jauniaux, Benat Achiary, Nosfell, etc.) and New York (Bryce Dessner, Sufjan Stevens, etc.) but also in electronic music (Joakim, Rone), traditional music (Mongolia, Mali, Japan…) and a host of other genres. “the great expanse that symbolises possibility has never narrowed before my eyes and my only certainty is that I do not know where I am headed”, he adds.

Several years ago, his father’s path and his own crossed again. Gaspar had grown up and, on stage, new kinds of sparks began to fly. “ When he first entered into my music, not unlike a child at play, I almost immediately felt a musical kinship as if he were, albeit by different means, gaining access to the same musical landscape. This is where we found a common ground between my desire for archaic purity and Gaspar’s raw, uninhibited and fundamental approach”, says Pedro.

This reunion later led to the recording of a “ Take Away Show” directed by Vincent Moon and broadcast online via La Blogothèque, which went worldwide. “We are merely beginning to discover that we belong to two vast worlds, dense but disparate, separated by time and space and yet we can build a bridge between the flamenco roots of my father’s guitar and the modern and youthful curiosity of my cello”, Gaspar adds.

And it was on that fair summer evening, at the Quarry, that the decision to record an album together materialised, after a week spent mingling with new people and rehearsing alongside the InFiné team. “ I wanted this record to be released outside of the traditional flamenco circuits”, states Gaspar. The Great Divides between musical genres definitely appear to belong to another time.

After several months spent thinking about the best place and approach, the duo eventually set off for New York – Brooklyn to be precise – to hand over production duties on “Barlande” to a friend of the family, Bryce Dessner (guitarist for The National and creator of Clogs). Although the duo brought along early demos for some of the tracks, the studio sessions gave pride of place to improvisation, which were in some cases held with very special guests. Joined by Bryce Dessner on guitar and Sufjan Stevens on harmonium, one of the improvisation sessions proved to be the ideal closing track for the album: the terribly Jarmushian “Encuentro en Brooklyn”.

Over the course of its eight chapters, “Barlande” charts a powerful musical territory, both loyal to its roots and ground-breaking, making this a fundamental addition to the InFiné catalogue. “ Flamenco is, in its essence, a melting pot of influences: from its prehistory in India, taking root in Andalusia and subsequent forays into the rest of the world. I belong to a generation that has seen distances rapidly shrink, and different cultures merge to form a new musical landscape. I do not feel that i belong exclusively to any specific tradition, rather I am proud to think that I may be participating in blurring the lines between musical genres.” Gaspar concludes.
