PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR 2009:

BANDS STAND-UP FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION & AWARENESS,
TEAMING UP WITH
1 800-SUICIDE THE NATIONAL HOPELINE NETWORK,
TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS,
SYNCLIVE.COM AND POSTSECRET
FOR FIRST-EVER SPRING COLLEGE TOUR LAUNCHING APRIL 2009;

ALKALINE TRIO
WILL HEADLINE CROSS-COUNTRY TREK JOINED BY
ANBERLIN
AND NEWCOMERS SINGLE FILE

The reality of depression and suicide has inspired artists to take part in the PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR, a traveling college music tour committed to reducing the stigma associated with mental health as well as making the access to help and hope for students safe and without fear. ALKALINE TRIO will headline the inaugural PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR--where impassioned artists join together to raise awareness and funds for depression and suicide prevention. ANBERLIN will support on the trek with newcomers SINGLE FILE opening the show. The PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR marks the first-ever suicide prevention tour happening on college campuses; the events are also open to the public. The trek will launch in April; look for tour dates and venues and a ticket pre-sale to be announced in early 2009.

The PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR is created through a partnership between the non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) which boasts the largest audience on MySpace and Facebook: Postsecret.com; Synclive.com; and 1-800 SUICIDE The National Hopeline Network. Through 1-800 SUICIDE--which provides a life-saving service that is private and confidential for people in need--callers are routed directly to the closest crisis center in their immediate area so that quick referrals to behavioral health services and other supports can be offered. Since 1998, 1-800-SUICIDE has received over 3 million calls and rescued more than 4,000 individuals who had already initiated suicide plans.

"In moments of bravery and confusion and honesty, people turn to 1-800-SUICIDE--over three million of them," points out Jamie Tworkowski, founder of To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) and PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR partners. "The folks at the Hopeline Centers have been answering those calls for ten years, picking up the phone when it's mattered most. Now it's our turn. This is our moment to respond." To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA)--a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide--exists to encourage, inform and inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since 2006, they have responded to 80,000 messages from people in over 40 different countries.

The Alive! Mental Health Fair--present onsite at every show day on the PICK UP THE PHONE TOUR--will contain booths with information, therapy and local help resources as well as offer education in suicide prevention with the goal of recruiting volunteers to be trained and staff local peer-to-peer hotlines and online crisis support centers at the college. The tour aims to inspire and raise awareness of students' mental health rights by spreading the best practices and guidelines for colleges, students and faculty set forth by the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law (www.bazelon.org).

In another innovative move, the tour has partnered with Synclive.com to air live performances from the artists via the Internet as well as provide an immediate online confidential connection for fans in need. Synclive.com will create an essential connection for concertgoers in crisis who are unable to approach a booth at the show in-person either for direct help or to volunteer for the online counseling program.

"ALKALINE TRIO is thrilled to get to work with the Hopeline Network," says the band's frontman Matt Skiba. "We are especially excited about being a part of this whole tour and the cause it's supporting. Suicide is a very permanent solution to what may be a temporary problem and it feels great to be a part of something that is purely there to help people in times of desperation." Skiba adds, "If one life is saved because of the hotline, then I consider it a success and we're very proud to in any way be a part of something so positive."

ALKALINE TRIO's new single "Over And Out"--inspired by a story Matt read about a grieving woman waiting in vain for her slain husband to return from Iraq--offers a timely connection to the focus of PICK UP THE PHONE. The group released their sixth studio album Agony & Irony (Epic), which debuted at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in July 2008. Alkaline Trio is Dan Andriano (vocals/bass), Derek Grant (vocals/drums) and Matt Skiba (vocals/guitar), who emerged from the working class suburbs of Chicago in 1996. The band's career was propelled by the 2003 release of Good Mourning--their first full-length of the current lineup--which was met with critical praise. The band has since led the charge in defining a genre of music, selling nearly a million albums and continuing to maintain a rabid fan base. www.myspace.com/alkalinetrio

"We're extremely excited to be on this upcoming tour because it brings together two of our favorite things: great music--such as Alkaline Trio--but also a helping hand to those in need and serving a purpose greater than the typical tour," notes ANBERLIN frontman Stephen Christian. "To Write Love on Her Arms, Hopeline, Post Secret and the fight for the prevention of suicide are all causes and organizations we firmly stand behind; we're always excited about touring, but to tour with a purpose makes it an unbelievable experience."

ANBERLIN released their fourth studio album New Surrender (Universal Republic) in September 2009 when it debuted at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. Originally hailing from Florida, the group--lead singer Stephen Christian, guitarist Joseph Milligan, bassist Deon Rexroat, drummer Nathan Young and guitarist Christian McAlhaney--have established themselves as one of alternative rock's most exciting acts. The group reinvented themselves with their 2007 mainstream breakthrough Cities, and after releasing three successful albums on the well-respected indie label Tooth & Nail, the band signed with Universal Republic to release their major label debut New Surrender. www.myspace.com/anberlin

Hailing from Denver, CO the power trio SINGLE FILE will open the show. After self booking and promoting hundreds of shows over several U.S. tours, as well as independently releasing and distributing three self-produced EP's, the group has signed with Reprise Records. SINGLE FILE teamed with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, The All American Rejects, Less Than Jake) to record their full-length debut Common Struggles, set for Spring 2009 release. www.myspace.com/singlefile

About the National Hopeline Network 1-800 SUICIDE (784-2433) and the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC):

After losing his wife, Kristin Brooks to suicide in 1998, Reese Butler founded the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC), which created the National Hopeline Network 1-800 SUICIDE. In 2000, Reese gained the support of the late Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN), Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and obtained more than seven million dollars to expand and support the National Hopeline Network which is comprised of 200 community crisis centers in 48 states. Callers in crisis to 1800-SUICIDE are routed to the closest crisis center in their immediate area so that quick referrals to behavioral health services and other supports can be offered. Since 1998, 1-800-SUICIDE has received more than 3 million calls and rescued more than 4,000 individuals who had already initiated suicide plans. www.hopeline.com

About To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA):

In 2006, Jamie Tworkowski wrote a story, a glimpse into a friend's life and her first steps to recovery from drug addiction, self-injury, and depression. The story, titled To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), and t-shirts Tworkowski printed to help pay for his friend's recovery, started a movement, not only within his local Orlando, FL community, but one that was swiftly embraced by people everywhere. Realizing a strong need to bring these mental health issues to light, Jamie created TWLOHA--a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide--and enlisted bands such as Paramore, Thrice, Anberlin, Switchfoot, Bayside, The Almost to spread TWLOHA's message. Jamie and TWLOHA joined national and international touring bands spreading their message of hope before bands took the stage each night. In August 2007, MySpace awarded TWLOHA the winner of their "Impact Award" for "Community Building," TWLOHA garnered the most votes in the history of the Impact Awards. To Write Love on Her Arms began with one broken girl, one painful night; addiction, depression, self-injury. It is the realization of what life can be when people commit to meeting a need. "A friend of mine told me there is no such thing as suicide prevention. This is an attempt to prove him wrong, to say that love can change a life. We can hold back the darkness. Rescue is possible," says Tworkowski. www.twloha.com

Don't be surprised if Brighton based Evil Nine and their forthcoming album They Live! does for zombies what Daft Punk did for robots. With stomping electro drums, '80s Italian horror-movie synths, dirty punk basslines, and a wanton disregard for genre rules, the infamously subversive dance/electronic duo create an unstoppable soundtrack for the new virtual zombie revolution.

The title track (and first single) They Live! pays irreverent homage to cult director John Carpenter's classic 1988 sci-fi ghoulfest They Live with its ultra-catchy vocoder chorus ("They walk, they lie, they love, they live!/They wake, they fall, they cry, they live!/They fight, they fail, they die, they live!"). "We love that film and the weird, crunchy, stripped-down analog-electronic scores John Carpenter creates," Beaufoy says. "I've had a massive fascination with zombie films since I was a teenager," Pardy adds, which probably explains why they also recruited cult artist Dan Mumford (known for his infamous sicko album art for Gallows and other punk/metal classics) to create the gory horror-show like album art for this particular album.

The album itself features a number of surprising collaborations, foremost is Def Jux's radical mastermind El-P, whose brutal spitting transforms the apocalyptic slammer "All The Cash."

We hooked up with him after our DJ set at Coachella last year and really got along," Pardy says. "If there was one rapper we wanted to work with, it's El-P. And he was up for something different: I don't think he's much of a dance-music fan, but he's very open-minded musically." Elsewhere, Beans (of Anti-Pop Consortium) turns "Set It Off" into a Goth-meets-hip-house burner, while David, vocalist of Kitsuné buzz band Autokratz, adds melodic New Wave melancholy to "The Wait." "I'm not sure what David's singing about," Beaufoy admits. "I think it's about getting laid after a gig and trying to slip away quietly to avoiding any awkwardness." Additionally Seraphim (from Brooklyn indie-electro seditionaries No Surrender) and Bristol scenester Emily Breeze also make crucial cameos. "To us, Emily's the female Danzig," Pardy explains. "It was great having her make ballsy punk-rock-chick noise over us pretending to be a rock band. We always like to push people to do something completely new."

Creating this army of like-minded iconoclasts is all part of Evil Nine's plan to confound expectations. To that end, They Live! features pounding tracks that will work in any club, but filtered through unexpected influences spanning '80s cock rock, The Cure, early Prince, krautrockers Cluster, Can and Tangerine Dream, vintage noise punkers Suicide and Black Flag, and newer sonic saboteurs TV On The Radio and Queens of the Stone Age. As such, "Behemoth" welds Timbaland rhythms to Black Sabbath heaviness; "Feed On You" comes out somewhere between Beverly Hills Cop and a phantom death march; "Dead Man Coming" loops soundtrack composer/Goblin member Fabio Frizzi's theme from Zombie Flesh Eaters with ragga rudeness courtesy Toastie Taylor of U.K. rap crew New Flesh; "The Wait," meanwhile, incorporates the experiments of Paul Lansky, the early synth pioneer whom Radiohead sampled on "Idioteque." "He's a mad Princeton professor who experiments with strange noises," Beaufoy explains. "We're obsessed," Pardy says. "We can usually find something positive and inspiring about most of the music out there, we then fuck it up and twist it into our own thing." Equally individual will be Evil Nine's kinetic new live show: it features Pardy and Beaufoy singing and playing dueling bass guitars, synthesizers, samples onstage, an actual human drummer, fittingly spooky visual phantasmagoria along with group's new full-length They Live!—a worthy successor to their 2005 album debut You Can Be Special Too, one of the most acclaimed electronic albums in recent memory.

THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS

SETS TOUR DATES THROUGH MARCH, 2009

NEW SINGLE "YOU BETTER PRAY"
HITS ALTERNATIVE RADIO AND MTV2;
RJA FANS GET FREE DOWNLOAD OF ALBUM TRACK
"PEN & PAPER" ON OFFICIAL WEBSITE

SECOND VIRGIN ALBUM LONELY ROAD, RELEASED FEB. 3RD

NEW YORK, N.Y.- For Virgin Records platinum-plus rockers THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS, a busy holiday season is only getting busier in the two-month run-up to the much-anticipated February 3, 2009 release of the band's second album, LONELY ROAD.

The band played early Secret Santa to their worldwide fan community by posting the new album track "Pen & Paper" as a free download at the RedJumpsuitAlliance.com website, adding a stream of the song to MySpace.com, and letting viral word of mouth do the rest.

The album's kick-off single and video, the righteous rocker "You Better Pray," has already been streamed nearly 350,000 times on the RJA Myspace.com page, as it builds national airplay and climbs the alternative and modern rock radio charts.

Three months' worth of live dates have now been finalized, including year-end holiday celebrations presented by America's greatest rock radio stations; a month of headlining dates through the south and Midwest (including a stop in their hometown Jacksonville, Florida); and a series of gigs in Southeast Asia and Australia.

On Monday, December 15th, the final MTV2: UNLEASHED All-Day Premiere of 2008 will be "You Better Pray." The video will run on MTV2's online homepage and on MTV2's cablecast throughout the day, at the top of each video hour and in front of the channel's regular programming. Promo spots will feature teaser footage from the song's video clip for a week prior to premiere day.

THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS recorded LONELY ROAD, at the Valley Village, CA, studio of super-producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Less Than Jake, Daughtry, Seether, All-American Rejects). The album follows up DON'T YOU FAKE IT, the band's breakthrough debut, which charted for 62 weeks on Billboard's Top 200, scanning over a million copies in the U.S. to date, and selling more than 2.1 million copies of its singles.

Consisting of lead singer Ronnie Winter, guitarist/pianist/singer Duke Kitchens, bass/singer Joey Westwood and drummer/singer Jon Wilkes, RJA's extraordinary address of domestic violence in their first single, "Face Down," signaled the close relationship the band would keep with their fans as they grew from local sensations to platinum international hit-makers. "Everybody loves the band 'cause they know we are real and not contrived, and know the trailer that we started jamming in when we were 15 years old," Ronnie Winter told a CrusherMagazine.com interviewer during his brief downtime at home in Florida, just following completion of the new album. "The cops had to come shut us down. I still talk to those cops when I see them on the streets. It's one whole long story that has taken eight or nine years, so our community has been with us the whole time.

Accordingly, since the release of DON'T YOU FAKE IT, RJA has also been an active force for a wide array of charitable organizations and social causes, including teen suicide prevention (including co-headlining the US Take Action Tour with My Chemical Romance and Rise Against), mental health parity and a strong commitment to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, teaming up with their label Virgin Records, to raise funds.

In addition, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Guardian Angel Foundation has been formed as an umbrella group to support under-funded high school band programs, to promote and enhance student musical development; support individuals affected by domestic violence, to break the cycle of abuse; and contribute to research that focuses on management of acute hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients. "We've honestly always felt blessed, and the best way to give back is to…give back! Don't talk about it. Just do it. So our motto of, 'Doing good for no good reason' will always apply to this specific band, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus," Winter said.

The Asteroids Galaxy

Traveling at Lightening Speed, Touched Down in America;
“Around the Bend” EP is here!

Formed less than a year ago, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is heading for fame at a speed even they didn’t expect. The band, led by Lars Iversen and Mette Lindberg, has barely begun to share their music with anyone outside of their hometown of Copenhagen, and yet their first UK single, "The Sun Ain't Shining No More", is already tickling the ears of delighted radio programmers across the pond. Another track, “The Golden Age,” has mysteriously popped up on the playlist for “Passport Approved,” a syndicated radio show broadcasting weekly on Indie 103.1 (Los Angles), WXPN and other “tastemaker” stations around the country. If that weren’t enough, their song “Around the Bend” is currently being featured in ads for the new iPod Touch (http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/gallery/ads/), and is available now on iTunes.

Stylistically The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is hard to pin down, except to say that they throw one hell of a party – which may be why those music-loving folks at Apple chose them to help sell what’s being touted as “the funnest iPod ever.” Sun-drenched pop melodies collide with Technicolor dreams, anchored by the band’s shared love of the classic soul stylings of Marvin, Stevie and Sly that can be heard in the horns snaking through “Around The Bend” as well as the slinky “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More”, for which they have made a spectacular video. TAGT will release a digital EP, Around the Bend, on October 28, followed by debut full-length album in early 2009.

Although Mette and Lars are the core of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, the band grows to a six-piece live, including trumpet and sax players, clavinet sounds, a drummer and a guitarist.

Funeral Party Heads to the Studio!

East Los Angeles- Funeral Party will be heading into the studio today to start the recording process for their first full-length album, set to release on Fearless Records in Spring of 2009.

Funeral party will be working again with producer Lars Stalfors , the engineer on the most recent Mars Volta full-length album "The Bedlam in Goliath." Lars also produced Funeral Party's debut EP "Bootleg." They will be recording at a Los Angeles studio where Mars Volta frequently rehearses and records their material. Also joining the band in the studio is special guest drummer Alfredo Ortiz, current drummer for Latin rock-band Ozomatli, and the studio drummer for the popular Beastie Boys.

The full-length record will be a follow up to Funeral Party's three track EP "Bootleg," which was released in November of 2008 and features the tracks, Carwars, NYC Moves to the Sound of LA, and Chalice.

Funeral Party opened for LA Weekley's Detour this October, alongside Justice, Cut Copy Moving Units, The Faint, Mickey Avalon, and more. They have had club dates and tours with artists such as Yelle (Astral Werks) and Friendly Fires (XL Records.)

Funeral Party has a sound all their own...it is melodic without being overly poppy, with a lyrical tone that is perfectly forceful, without being overbearing.

THE CURE

A SECRET SHOW CONCERT PRESENTED BY MYPACE MUSIC

Legendary Band, The Cure, Performs Secret Show Concert For Fans at the Historic Troubadour Club in Los Angeles

MySpace Music held a special Secret Show concert by The Cure (http://www.myspace.com/thecure) on Saturday, December 13 at the Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. The performance took place exclusively for the MySpace users, in which the community was notified via MySpace of the free concert only 24 hours before the show occurred. The Cure recently released their thirteenth studio album 4:13 Dream to rave reviews with People Magazine giving the album four stars stating "a damn near classic Cure album."Led as always by lead singer/guitarist Robert Smith, the Cure line-up comprises longtime members bass player Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper and, back in the band for a third time, guitarist Porl Thompson.

BT

GETS ANIMATED ABOUT NEW PROJECTS

New York, NY - Following Brian (BT) Transeau's critically acclaimed electronic film/5.1 masterpiece, This Binary Universe (heralded as ”The most important electronic work of the new millennium” by Keyboard Magazine); a foray into the world of animated film making seems like a very natural progression for him.

Next up Transeau is scoring the new Pixar short Cars-Tokyo Mater!. “I am beyond thrilled” says BT, “it’s the first thing I’ve ever done that my daughter thinks kicks ass!!” In addition, Transeau has completed a “dub-step, glitched out orchestral-freak out” for the new Sega game Alpha Protocol featuring a full orchestra. He is also in the process of remixing and collaborating with Shiny Toy Guns, Christian Burn and Catherine Wheel’s Rob Dickenson.

BT's plans for a full tour with his live band upon completion of his as-yet-untitled upcoming album are coming soon!

South Florida’s favorite music festival, internationally renowned for its memorable live performances and DJ sets from the world’s top electronic and alternative rock artists, will take place during the 24th annual Winter Music Conference at the beautiful waterfront location of Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami (the same grounds it has occupied since 2006).

Last year over 55,000 dance music enthusiasts coming from the entire United States and over 50 countries around the world were in attendance, marking it as the largest ever UMF event and ranking at #14 on Pollstar’s 2008 Mid Year Top 100 Concert Grosses. “The Ultra Music Festival, which started as an afterthought at the Winter Music Conference a decade ago but has now become its biggest event, more than lived up to expectations this weekend at downtown Miami's Bicentennial Park,” wrote Miami Herald pop music critic Mike Hamersly in his review of last year’s festival (March 30, 2008). Added the Los Angeles Times (via their blog) of the Winter Music Conference April 2, “…the highlight of the week of DJ-centric festivities was surely the massive Ultra Music Festival. Taking place…over two days at downtown Miami’s Bicentennial Park, Ultra did not disappoint.”

In addition to the annual Miami festival, UMF has expanded internationally to include events in Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, San Juan, Madrid and Ibiza. UMF recently added a January 2 festival in Cambriou exclusively featuring Tiësto’s only 2009 Brazilian performance.

PLACEBO TO PERFORM AT HISTORIC MTV EXIT CONCERT AT ANGKOR WAT

MULTI-PLATINUM ARTIST PLACEBO TO PERFORM AT HISTORIC MTV EXIT CONCERT AT ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA, TO RAISE AWARENESS AND INCREASE PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
FIRST-EVER ROCK CONCERT AT THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE-LISTED 12TH CENTURY TEMPLE

(PHNOM PENH / LONDON / BANGKOK) – The UK rock band Placebo today joined a host of other international and local artists performing at a historic MTV EXIT concert to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking, a crime impacting millions of people worldwide. The concert will be held at Angkor Wat in Cambodia on 7 December.

Duncan Sheik, whose current Broadway Musical Spring Awakening garnered eight Tony Awards and a Grammy in 2007/8, and Australian pop sensation Kate Miller-Heidke today also confirmed performances at the concert that features the US group The Click Five and some of Cambodia’s biggest recording artists.

MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) is a project of the MTV Europe Foundation -- a London-based registered charity – to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking and exploitation. MTV EXIT in Asia is produced in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“We are incredibly proud to perform at this important concert,” the members of Placebo said. “We hope that through our music and involvement in this event and the MTV EXIT campaign that millions of people learn about this tragic form of slavery.”

“Music can be an incredible force for change and through this special concert and the other events that MTV EXIT will be holding across Cambodia and Asia, this force will empower young people and their peers to avoid trafficking” said Simon Goff, MTV EXIT’s Director.

Angkor Wat is the best-preserved temple at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed complex near Siem Reap, Cambodia. The 12th-Century temple served as the backdrop for scenes in Tomb Raider, the action movie starring Angelina Jolie, and is one of the most unique and iconic cultural sites of the world. Whilst other cultural, classical and operatic performances have taken place at the temple, this will be the first ever rock concert.

The concert will provide content for a series of television programmes produced by MTV EXIT to be broadcast in Cambodia and on MTV channels internationally. These specials will combine concert footage with important information about human trafficking. All MTV EXIT television programming is produced rights-free and free of charge for all broadcasters and organisations.

THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS

READY SOPHOMORE ALBUM, LONELY ROAD, FEB. 3
New release is follow-up to platinum-selling debut, Don’t You Fake It, with new single, “You Better Pray” out now

(NEW YORK, N.Y.—Virgin Records) Jacksonville, FL, platinum rockers THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS have completed recording their sophomore album, LONELY ROAD, at the Valley Village, CA, studio of super-producer Howard Benson (Hoobastank, P.O.D., Less Than Jake, Daughtry, Seether, All-American Rejects), the follow-up to the DON’T YOU FAKE IT. Their debut breakthrough was two years in the making, a tribute to the label’s commitment to long-term artist development, and has gone on to sell more than 2.1 million singles and scan over a million copies in the U.S. to date.

The new album, LONELY ROAD, streets on Feb. 3, 2009, and is preceded digitally by the current hit track, “You Better Pray,” as well as a fan’s only studio demo for “Pen & Paper,” available at the band’s RedJumpSuitAlliance.com website, and now on MySpace. To mark the release, RJA will embark on a headlining, international tour, starting Dec. 6 at the 97X Next Big Thing 8 in Tampa, FL, then heading to a number of South East Asian countries in late February and March including Australian dates in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

“We’re really psyched about these tracks and the new record and hope you are, too,” proclaims lead vocalist Ronnie Winter on the band’s MySpace page. “Just like DON’T YOU FAKE IT, you can be sure LONELY ROAD will tie together these and a bunch of other sounds in a classic, but new-and-improved RJA-sounding way.”

Consisting of Winter, guitarist/pianist/singer Duke Kitchens, bass/singer Joey Westwood and drummer/singer Jon Wilkes, RJA connected immediately with listeners on their first single, “Face Down,” a plea against domestic violence that introduced a band with a commitment to social issues, not just in their music, but in their day-to-day lives.

DON’T YOU FAKE IT charted for 62 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200 while “Face Down” stayed atop the Top 20 Modern Rock airplay list for 52 weeks before being retired. “Face Down” earned the band platinum status by selling 1.5 million digital singles and has been streamed over 16.6 million times on MySpace. Songs from the first album have been streamed more than 50 million times on the band’s MySpace page, along with such favorites as “Your Guardian Angel,” which generated 10.2 million MySpace spins and 455k downloads, as well as marking the festive occasions of thousands of Facebook and YouTube photo flipbooks and videos. Two other songs from their debut, “Damn Regret” and “False Pretense,” are both at almost 100,000 downloads apiece.

Since the release of DON’T YOU FAKE IT, RJA has also been an active force for a wide array of charitable organizations and social causes, including teen suicide prevention (including co-headlining the US Take Action Tour with My Chemical Romance and Rise Against), mental health parity and a strong commitment to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, teaming up with their label Virgin Records, to raise funds.

“We’re looking forward to finally getting the new record out and once again hitting the road,” writes Winter on the band’s MySpace blog. “And as you’ll soon hear, it was all worth it.”

The Prodigy

return with the release of their fifth studio album.
INVADERS MUST DIE RELEASED MARCH 3RD on Take Me To The Hospital / Cooking Vinyl

‘Invaders Must Die’ is 40 minutes of having your head battered by future nostalgia, serotonin levels twisted by feel-good horrorcore and your synapses snapped by whiplash attitude. It's the sound of The Prodigy mixing up genres, contorting the past and rewiring the future, ram-raiding through the tranquility of music's status quo like a blot on the landscape of England's dreaming.

The first thing you notice about Invaders Must Die it is how complete it sounds, a consistent collection of bangers all firing from the same cannon. The next thing you notice about Invaders Must Die is just how melodic it is. Not just melody in the vocal sense but in the heyday-of-hardcore keyboard-hookline sense. Yes, if The Prodigy have learned anything from the hugely successful live shows was that those old skool rave anthems still rock hard - and are every bit as iconic to their generation as punk was to the nation's forty-somethings.

So Invaders Must Die is awash with references to the free party generation, thundering along like the mother of all E-rushes, all hairs tingling, spine jumping and lips buzzing. But not a retroactive arms-in-the-air, water-sharing nostalgia trip, but a set fuelled by punk's saliva-dripping rabid snarl. Take 'Colours', the first tune The Prodigy recorded for this set with it's 1992 polysynth riffing that sounds like The Stranglers' 'No More Heroes' parachuted into the middle of a Castlemorton circa 1992. Or 'Thunder', the 21st century bastard child of the classic 'Out of Space'.

‘Take Me To The Hospital' finds Keith and Maxim flexing over a vintage Prodigy riff. Suitably rusted, distorted and in need of urgent medication it bites like the soundtrack to Dante's Inferno. While the live favourite 'World’s On Fire' resurrects a 'flaming' theme and applies it to a groove straight out second album 'Music for the Jilted Generation. 'Omen' and ‘Warrior’s Dance’ are both beamed straight into the moshpit from rave central, while 'Piranha' rips the threads from the back of 60's garage and beats it into the filthy gutters of modern urban life.

Any old skool bonhomie floating around the riffs of this album are quickly slaughtered by 'Run With The Wolves' where The Prodigy's self-assured, gang-minded campaign turns into a maniacal, nose bleeding, heads-against-the-wall warzone. With added drum-pounding energy supplied by Dave Grohl.

And finally Invaders Must Die delivers its last brilliant twist with ‘Stand Up’ a horn-led sunrise anthem that aches with the positivity of a new dawn, walking the line of a burning horizon with the swaggering look of satisfaction that only comes when you instinctively know you've achieved what you set out to do.

Cocky? Perhaps, but wouldn't you be if you'd seen off all of the invaders with your most complete album yet, the first for your own record label?

Invaders Must Die is the unique sound of The Prodigy, still trespassing after all these years, walking the path they've created for themselves. And with that free party attitude still breaking and entering where other's can only dream of following.

There will also be a High Definition video download of 'Invaders Must Die' streamed from www.theprodigy.com

COMBICHRIST Hit The Road

With Support from Wes Borland's Black Light Burns
New album ‘Today We Are All Demons’ out on Jan. 20th

New York, NY – COMBICHRIST will be taking their patented electro-industrial sound on the road to support their fourth album Today We Are All Demons which is set for release on January 20, 2009. Kicking off on January 14th at Fort Lauderdale's Club Premier, the tour will include direct support from Black Light Burns featuring Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson). Tour dates below.

Combichrist's much lauded and respected live shows are, as Crypt Magazine describes, "known for tons of energy, blood, and a rock n' roll attitude." BlogCritics also warns that it's "not for the faint of heart - you wouldn't bring your grandmother to this show." The live incarnation is comprised of Combichrist mastermind Andy LaPlegua, longtime live drummer Joe Letz (Amen, Genitorturers, Mortiis), keyboardist Z_Marr (Hell Trash), and Trevor Friedrich (Eighteen Visions, Imperative Reaction).

Born from the metal and hardcore soul of Norway, COMBICHRIST is the brainchild of Andy LaPlegua, an icon within the industrial/dance scene. Creating music for much of his life, he began his musical empire fronting two highly respected (but very Norway-inclusive) bands: Fleshfire and Lash Out. While playing with Lash Out, Andy felt constricted within the organic side of hardcore and metal and decided it was time to branch out work in electronics and dance beats. As a result, he began the influential and seminal band Icon Of Coil, and released three ground-breaking and acclaimed albums through Philadelphia’s Metropolis Records. Feeling the need to expand into a darker and harder direction, he created Combichrist, which has become one of the label’s top selling artists.

Tourmates for this run, Black Light Burns released their CD/DVD combo package, Cover Your Heart and The Anvil Pants Odyssey, earlier this year. Featuring odd and unorthodox covers of songs by a diverse group of artists including Duran Duran, P.J. Harvey, The Swans, and Sisters of Mercy, this collection has been described by Revolver as a "revealing look into the mind of one of one of heavy music's most creative headcases."

Broken Spindles

prep new album for early 2009 release on blank.wav

Kiss/Kick is the latest album from Broken Spindles, and the second release from The Faint's blank.wav record label. Although Broken Spindles' sole member Joel Petersen has done remixes for Of Montreal and AFI and is also a member of The Faint, Kiss/Kick is a strictly "No Eyeliner" record. It is more No Wave than New Wave.

The new album was made in Omaha's Enamel, the studio owned by The Faint. With the entire studio at his disposal, Petersen used a live drummer more than on his previous Spindles records. Petersen says, "I knew that finding the balance of opposites was key to making sense of it all, to get the right mix of human and machine, acoustic and electronic, analog and digital, spontaneous and premeditated." This combination is heard clearly on the song "Introvert" which features programmed live drums, keyboards that hold down the rhythmic center and a guitar sound that careens out of control.

Lyrically, the album explores human fragility, both in body and mind. Songs like "I've Never Been This Afraid" and "We All Want to Fit in" show Petersen observing others and himself -- a constant theme in all of the Spindles records. Kiss/Kick is a record that takes the place of that late night journal writing session where the writer reveals more than what he knew was inside. As Petersen says, "For me, there has always been truth somewhere in the midst of extremes, and lyrically, this is where I wanted to be -- open, honest, and truthful. "

Kiss/Kick is Petersen's strongest work to date. With four Broken Spindles albums and five Faint albums under his belt, he has found his voice, as well as comfort in being the observer of our inherent discomfort with ourselves and our relationships. He has learned how to reduce songs to their basic parts without losing the power and excitement of great production.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE

TO RELEASE SCREAM AIM FIRE
DELUXE EDITION CD/DVD PACKAGE ON DECEMBER 9

Britain’s metal heroes Bullet For My Valentine will release a deluxe version of their sophomore album, Scream Aim Fire. The limited edition enhanced CD/DVD package will hit stores on December 9, 2008 and includes the original album in its entirety along with four bonus tracks—three new songs (“Road to Nowhere,” “Watching Us Die Tonight,” and “One Good Reason Why”) that are exclusive to the Deluxe Edition, as well as “Ashes of the Innocent,” a track previously available of SAF vinyl and digital download only. The CD also features all 11 Scream Aim Fire mini-comics illustrated by noted underground artist Tom Manning, most of which have never been seen before. On the bonus DVD, fans will find music videos for the title track, “Waking The Demon” and “Hearts Burst Into Fire,” along with five hilarious new episodes of Bullet TV, the band’s long-running series of behind-the-scenes home movies, all filmed and edited by the band members themselves while on tour in Switzerland, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Scream Aim Fire: Deluxe Edition caps off an exciting year for the foursome Kerrang! Magazine named Best British Band in 2008. Band members Michael Thomas, Jason James, Matt Tuck and Michael Paget have toured worldwide in support of their second Jive album, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and made the Top 5 in six other countries, Germany and Austria (No. 3), Japan and Australia (No. 4), and the U.K. and Sweden (No. 5). The title track to Scream Aim Fire also landed a coveted spot on the new video game Guitar Hero World Tour.

On the road, the band co-headlined the 2008 Taste of Chaos tour in the U.S. and sold out a trek to Australia in Spring 2008. Their recently completed U.K. tour also sold out in advance and included a tremendous bow at London’s 8,000-seat Alexander Palace, which was filmed for future release as a Hi-Def concert DVD. The band also played the 2008 Reading and Leeds festivals and are currently wrapping a sold out EU tour with plans to take a break for the holidays before hitting the Big Day Out festivals in Australia and New Zealand.
